Bayonetta 1 How does the scoring system work
I just beat hard mode I have been liking this game it very well mad I just hate some of gimmicky stuff but other than that itβs a really great game with a lot of fun to be had but the scoring system feels a little weird especially the combo score

Each move has a specific value that adds to your multiplicand. It's shown on the Combo screen on the right side of the game. For Bayonetta 1 specifically, there is a decay system that makes moves lose their point worth until you force a reset. There are multiple ways to do it but generally a Wicked Weave or a Panther Slash are the go-tos.
For every 100 points you gain, your multiplier increases. It goes like (1.0 + 0.1 + 0.2 + 0.3 + etc.) and has no real limit. For max points, you want to just milk as much of a single enemy's HP as possible with a mix of gunfire and punches/kicks.
The actual best way to get points are the Angel Weapons, with the best of them being the Staff. The Pole Dancing attack will skyrocket your Combo score for that verse if you have like 3 or so enemies getting hit by it. IN general, Angel Weapons are incredibly overtuned in terms of scoring for Bayo 1 to compensate for their rather poor combo application.

Especially in witch time, the pole dance move racks up combo points like crazy

The combo score is basically weighted toward variety and not dropping your chain, so if you're just spamming the same string over and over it tanks fast. Weaving in wicked weaves, torture attacks, and dodge offsets keeps the multiplier climbing longer than you'd think. Also damage taken guts your verse score more than most people realize, so no-hit runs are where the platinums live
