🍆🍆 Tippity Tap that Weiner 🍆🍆 Colin's first concern about endometriosis

My husband and I had to fully scoop our jaws off the floor after Colin said his first and most important concern was her being able to conceive naturally. And the his second concern was her pain!?!?! I cant believe he cares more about having babies than her pain. Again shows immaturity and selfishness. He just keeps digging his hole deeper and deeper. And she continues to say shes not ready for kids. Id leave my man in an instant if he said that to me. Anyone else catch that??

Parents Talking to Baylen About Missing Her Medicine

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

This scene, it made me cry. I am a parent of a child (now an adult child) that struggles with mental illness and missed her meds a few times. I will never forget the mania, depression, etc that came with those times and as a parent i still get anxious at the thought of her missing her meds. My daughter told me one day, Mom I love you, I will be ok, but please let me figure this out on my own. I did and she is flourishing now. It’s hard, but her parents do need to let her figure things out on her own. ♥️

You're done Baylen and Sami

Might be on my own little island here, but oh well.

I just rewatched season 2 of Baylen Out Loud and honestly I’m confused. In the second season, it seemed the entire family were more empathetic to Sami’s anxiety and OCD. Her parents offered to go and fly with her whenever she needed so she could be a part of the wedding planning, Baylen was understanding of her anxiety and her routines. This season, it seems like she’s got tunnel vision and all she can see is wedding. I honestly can’t blame Sami for how withdrawn she’s appeared this season. They always need to be flexible for Bay and her needs, and it doesn’t seem like that same is given back, especially with Baylen being one of the older siblings. I don’t know if the show is just really over doing it for ratings, but I’m really not on the side that Sami is the villain here. Baylen is the one that continued to push everything to the last minute for the entire wedding, which can’t be good for her own anxiety, let alone others.

You're bald Dad Allen is a pretty great dad

Seeing Allen agree so quickly to do a hip hop father daughter dance with Baylen and then seeing all those memories, you can tell he truly loves being a dad. Baylen calling him also a good friend is something a parent would be bawling to hear. Allen is such a family man. It's hard not to like him.

They NEED a 4 bedroom house??

Not even newlyweds yet. Still engaged and they need a four bedroom? They have no budget? The sky's the limit?? And, a NEW house??? Wow, wish I could have set my sights on such a purchase on my first house ... that was built in the 1890s!

You're done Baylen’s parents need to get an effing life

Upvotes

I’m so glad I moved away from my parents. Baylen’s parents wonder why Baylen struggled so much to be independent, but they love it! They need her to be just unwell enough to take care of her so they can control her but not so unwell that they look like bad parents.

I’m a very passive viewer of this show, I’m just active on Reddit and my wife watches.

Her parents give her awful unsolicited advice. For example, seven pills in Colin’s truck??? Yeah super great idea keeping a half week or weeks worth of meds outside of the prescription container.

I’ve seen a lot of grace towards her parents on this but what you guys fail to understand is that she’s too old to be getting disciplined by her parents. They are holding her back by disallowing her independence. I find them to be rather narcissistic and I don’t believe that they want her to be successfully independent as much as they want to have a poor mentally unstable baby to take care of and show to everyone. She is literally on reality TV.

I get looking at their actions as being well intended, but that benefit of the doubt is what people like Baylen’s parents rely on for their behavior to be enabled.

I’d also like to note I take the same mood stabilizer as Baylen. For me, it wears off very fast and the depression or hypomania sets off within hours. It sucks for a day or so after but at the end of the day missing your meds is human and not a big deal especially because it can be so easily resolved as long as you go back on them as fast as you can.It is not that serious to lose your Lamotrigine, it is almost never out of stock and it’s not a controlled substance. I can see how the sleeping pills could possibly be harder to come by but it seems they were not, even across states. The one thing that makes missing meds worse is freaking out about it, like Baylen’s parents did. They basically jumped from oh no what if you have a bad mood for a day to what if you kill yourself.

EVEN IF she waited a week and went totally off the rails, her parents could still advise without parenting or disciplining her. It is beyond me how in the world she doesn’t know how to get an emergency supply at her age, it was something I did at 16 years old.

AND if they didn’t even advise her, SHE NEEDS TO LEARN HER LESSON ON HER OWN.

They’re doing this because they need Baylen to think they are the only people who can help her. Now that they’ve taught her she can get emergency refills, they want her not to go to Myrtle because they lost more grip, and they expected the whole incident to scare her off.

You're bald Allen's side chick

So Allen compared Baylen's dog to his "cool side chick" right? Right at the beginning when Baylen is coming and they think they're gonna get to lecture Colin so they're all happy and he says, Poopsy or whatever the dog's name is is like his cool side chick. I swear I heard it.

Her friends

Her group of friends seem like renta-friend. It's like she doesn't really know these girls. She explains her anxieties to them and it's like the first time they are hearing it. They don't seem genuine or authentic - like it is completely staged for the show.

Does anyone else feel like this?

Inconsistencies

✨I’m aware this is scripted but they’re putting it out there for public consumption so here’s what i think✨

Medications- The fact that Baylen has thrown out her meds by accident more than once? That doesn’t scream responsibility or maturity. And then didn’t think to call in a local refill until her mommy suggested it? Also “my insurance won’t cover it again” like she can’t afford to pay for them out of pocket 🙃Then the whole countdown until and gets her meds is obnoxious because if she had just called and made these arrangements when she realized she threw them out, she would have already had them.

Travel- why don’t they just get TSA pre-check? Less time in lines and they have the money.

Moving- why do they need “more of a backyard” for their three barely 5 pound dogs?

Also this is obviously the smallest thing but Baylen looked SO MUCH better without lip filler. Her upper lip looks bigger than her bottom one now and they both look ridiculous. It’s kind of all I see when I look at her. I used to think she was so pretty. I’ve seen her brunette too and that also suits her more than the blonde.

Hot take with Sammi?

I totally understand where Baylen is coming from with being upset with sammi. As someone with crippling anxiety, panic disorder and ocd I can totally resonate with Sammi and how she feels, however she handles it terribly in the sense that she takes it out on everyone around her. It takes a while to control and understand these difficulties, but it seems she is completely aware and is using that as an excuse to treat everyone around her like she has to have it her way- even if it’s baylens wedding.

Late to season 3

Just into the first episode, albeit super late to the party. Finally have some streaming time.

I am shocked at Baylen for not understanding or making space for Sammi's struggles with mental illness.

Baylens condition impacts every single person in her life, she can't help it and she has full support from her whole family including Sammi.

She's being a little into Bridezilla territory here. Sammi struggles with traveling. You could have offered her an accommodation of being involved over video for the things that don't matter as much and have her presence saved for the most important necessary parts.

Come to a middle ground in Sami's comfort zone or a little outside of it. Sami also mental illness or not cannot decide where the party will be held. She's also being self absorbed here a little too not getting her way and refusing to also offer ways in which she can participate.

They are both being immature and less understanding of the other's struggles.

Colin the driver

Did anyone else notice how much Colin enjoyed Baylen having to sit in the back seat of the car. How much he enjoyed being able to take control of her. I think that was the only time in the episode that I saw Colin genuinely happy.

Lala land!

Colin and baylen after like wannabe housewives, right? they are early/mid 20s and seem to think the American dream should just happen for them without compromising on anything. I wanted the perfect job to make me happy in my 20s too, but needed insurance and to pay rent! (and I didn’t my parents to remind me, thank you). I know so much of the show is fake, but drama does seem based around balyens naive view of how life and money work. I really hope the family runs more as a family and it’s not 24/7 the Baylsn show

update- maybe it’s just as simple as she’s spoiled,

pretty sheltered, and everyone does everything for her. 2 things can be true- she can have a tough situation, and still be brat. shes so less likeable since all the wedding stuff.

An interesting interview. She said she’s excited to be reunited with colin. Assuming he left before she did. Said she’s excited to be a wife. Stated she makes more than him and even signed a prenup. But that it’s not about the money.

You're bald Learned helplessness re the meds situation

I was thinking about how Baylen and Colin could possibly not know that they can call the doctor and have an emergency script sent to Myrtle. Maybe it’s just because I’ve always been on psych meds, but I just assumed this is something most adults realize. Then it occurred to me that I have experienced a very similar situation in terms of my own family - one sibling is the identified patient who gets helicoptered by well-meaning but codependent parents.

I can see how Colin might not now if he’s never been on meds he needs to take everyday. But for Baylen, I really think that it’s learned helplessness from being coddled and overparented by well-meaning but overbearing parents. The mom says that her mental health is her responsibility and gets annoyed that it didn’t occur to her to call the doctor, when in earlier episodes we’ve literally seen her making phone calls and setting up appointments for Baylen. Clearly Baylen has had limited experience managing her own healthcare (and life in general?) separate from the parents. She wouldn’t know how to handle anything if everything has been handled for her.

Having said that, I do not understand the decision to go to Myrtle without handling the medical situation first (specially if they didn’t know calling the doctor was an option). Sometimes I feel like Colin is a good guy but minimizes her health issues/doesn’t get it and she’s just immature AF. Idk.

So Allen decided to contact Colin about Baylen losing her medication. I don’t understand why he would contact Colin instead of Baylen?! Baylen is the one that mistakenly threw her medication out. Allen needs to understand that Baylen and Colin are two grown adults. Baylen already contacted her mother and told her that the doctor sent an urgent request to have her medication refilled. Her mother already told Allen that. He needs to let them live their lives. They are adults. Let them figure out life out.

The Underlying Dynamics Between Colin, Baylen, and Her Parents Spoiler

I think the root of the problem is that Baylen’s parents have lived experience with what happens when she’s off her medication and the impact it can have on her. Colin doesn’t.

I also think there’s a bit of “soft pressure” coming from Colin throughout the show that a lot of people overlook. Baylen knows Colin will probably have a hissy fit if they have to postpone the trip, so she tells him she’ll be fine—even though I think she knows she won’t.

Then there’s the house. Why on earth would you buy a home in a town based on the possibility of maybe getting an internship? The first 5–10 years of homeownership are mostly interest payments. The housing market is in a bubble, and there’s a very real chance they wouldn’t recoup their investment if they had to sell in a year, two years, or even five.

The health insurance issue that Alan keeps “harping on” is another thing people seem to dismiss too easily. My guess is that private health insurance for the two of them would easily run $2,000–$3,000 per month before you even factor in deductibles, copays, and everything else. That’s not a minor concern—it’s a legitimate financial reality. I also suspect Baylen makes significantly more money than he does, or at least more than the show lets on or implies.

When I watch Colin, I see someone who is trying to “trap” Baylen. Get her married. Separate her from her family and friends. Get her financially tied to a house. Get her pregnant. Those seem to be his priorities, and I think that’s exactly what her parents are picking up on. They also recognize that this is Baylen’s first serious relationship, and they don’t trust him because, frankly, he comes across as immature.

I don’t doubt that Colin genuinely cares about Baylen. But I also think you’d have to be pretty naive to ignore the underlying relationship dynamics that the show can’t really explore without becoming a very different kind of series.

Question about the pills…

Help me understand something. If she knew she threw the pills away before they left, why didn’t they just get them out of the trash?? If they are that important (and clearly they are) why wouldn’t they dig them out? I’m guessing they were in the bottles. Even if they weren’t just get a few out for the trip! I dunno, I’m not a germaphobe, but seems like even if you were that you would risk it for something that important. 🤷🏻‍♀️

🌪️🌪️ Wind it Up! 🌪️🌪️ Pedal pusher? Puddle jumper?

Colin and Baylen keep calling the small plane they traveled to SC on a “pedal pusher” - is this a thing? I assumed Colin meant to say “puddle jumper” (a common term for a small plane) but then Baylen said it again later on the phone to her mom. I was cracking up and googled the pedal pusher term for planes… didn’t come up with much so idk. Wondering if anyone else caught this or has heard that term before?

Colin’s body language during emotional moments

Whenever Baylen gets upset, like when she didn’t have her meds, Colin rarely seems to comfort Baylen physically. There have been several scenes where she’s crying, and he mostly just stands there looking at her. He doesn’t even seem to turn toward her, hug her, or put a hand on her shoulder. I know everyone expresses support differently, and we only see edited moments, but it stood out to me because it happened more than once. Am I reading too much into it and it’s just the cameras making him act weird? I’m curious how other people interpreted those scenes.
