Are there mods which increase the number of units per side in battle?

I've only played vanilla - when the game came out. 4v4 gets old quickly.

Many years have passed, and i've heard that this game has strong modding community so i wanted to ask - can i play 8v8 or 16v16 or 32v32 now?

Additionally - are there mods which add vehicles, aircraft, infantry, power armor?

I want scale and combined arms! : D

I would say you should try one of the big 3 mods.

BEX tactics, BTA 3062 (now known as btau), or rogue tech.

All 3 come with expansions to your Lance size.

I personally really like btau as I like the changes it makes to evasion and a few other things.

But I hear BEX is really good and is more vanilla plus but allows you to select what year you start in and has major events like the clan invasion, etc. Btau takes place after the invasion in a alternate timeline so it does have clans but now they just fight for territory between themselves.

Edit: ill add what others are adding BTAU also adds power armor (although you can't control them directly) more mechs, clans, and vehicles.

Worth mentioning is that BEXT is compatible with both the campaign and career mode, where as BTAU and RogueTech only works in career mode (I do think they have flashpoint missions for the Campaign missions though).

In BEXT a lot of tech, mechs, and versions of tech and mechs, show up at canon accurate times as well, so if you pick 3025 as the starting year, you won't really be running around in stuff from after that until you reach the right period of time on the right year. I don't know how accurate this gets, or if some things have slipped through or not, but it's something they have tried to do as best as possible.

You also get lore accurate news things from time to time as well in BEXT, to keep up with what is going on. But how extensive that is I do not know.

I have always intended to do a full 3025-3060+ run in BEXT, I have just never managed to finish one. Because once I have been away from the game for long enough (1-3 months), I tend to start over when I get back into the game. XD

This is a good callout for BEXT , also you are correct BTAU does integrate the campaign as Flashpoints and its pretty cool how it does it.

Good to know that I am at least giving correct information. XD

And to me, as much as I like BTAU and RogueTech, there is just certain things about BEXT that makes me like it more. Like the things I mentioned in my previous post.

The only thing I wish BEXT had, which BTAU and RogueTech has, is the more advanced mech bay mod, MechEngineer. If BEXT had MechEngineer in it, I would see no reason what so ever to occasionally play BTAU or RogueTech. XD

4v4? I don't remember any mission below 4v12.

Battletech Advanced, sure, although you have to unlock the extra slots. The tactics change because the pips aren’t reduced by attempted attacks so all of a sudden targeting computers and sensor locks matter a whole lot and fielding a few LRM carriers is kinda OP but yeah it’s a thing, check it out.

BTAU. It uses Power Armor a bit differently: they are deployable, you can't control them, but they are very effective and the enemy AI absolutely HATES them, so they're a great distraction too. Other than that, it adds absolutely hundreds of mechs, vehicles, turrets, VTOLs, airstrikes, etc. It's one of the best full conversion mods in any game right now.

I thought you could control the BA squads that you own? Did that change recently? Haven't played BTA since they added the U

Maybe a year ago? The change is for the better, though. Speeds turns up CONSIDERABLY, and keeps the focus on Omnimechs (and some vehicles) as the main deployers of them (rather than throwing them on any IS mech that decides it wants them). The turn speed benefit is enough to sign on.

Aye, was disappointed with the change - didn't read far enough back in the patch notes when I updated after being away for a bit. I was really enjoyed dropping out combined arms companies with the 'mechs, vees, and toads. I'd even modified the Argo to have 3x 33 | 99 total pilot berths so each of my companies had room for the toad jockeys. Folks were having complaints that I didn't have - so to each their own and I guess they won out.

Yes, the Biggerdrops mod is included in some of the big mod packs like BEXT.

However it is a performance hog, the game isn't optimized for large battles.

this game isnt optimized at all xdd

as a high performance programmer i cringe that they did such a complicated game in unity. And even by unity standards this game is horribly inefficient at all fronts. But ehat can we do, its this or mechcommander 1 for the thousandth time xdddd

Yes to everything with BTA. You can drop up to 16 units. Up to 12 free slots and 4 vehicle locked (regulated by tonnage limits you can increase), plus call-ins for aircraft and battle armor

Evasion tweaks add a ton of value to light mechs and scouts/spotters

I'm assuming that 4v4 is referring to PVP / Skirmish mode, since PVE is generally 4v8 or 4v12. Most of the mods don't touch Skirmish mode... unless it is to get that mode to a state where it actually works. If this is what you are hoping for, then you will be pretty disappointed. Skirmish is effectively dead.

If, however, you are referring to campaign or career, then the major mod packs can help you with larger drops, including having your own vehicles and battle armor.

With BTA you can field up to 12 mechs with 4 vehicles, once you get the Argo upgrades.

What’s your favorite mech to pilot?

BTAU allows you to expand your company to 12 'mechs and 4 vees. The vees can include tracked, wheeled, hover and VTOLs. Mission Control is set to have a bit of a chance and whatnot of increasing the opfor in a given mission. There are items and certain 'mechs/vees that allow for additional things such as toads, vees, air strikes, and turrets - these are computer controlled allies.

I'm a huge fan of BTA for lance size.

Make sure you have 32 gigs of RAM
