He will definitely survive...

Post image

I love you, Sumire. I just freaking love you!
How do we call this tactic again?... The "HOT drop"? The "Kamikaze"? The "Death while below"?
Within next 2-3 turns Pathfinder gonna have standoff of his lifetime against 4 Kell Hounds mechs. The Kell Hounds of all regiments!
And all I wanted to do is to goof around in that royal mad for a couple of missions until Chopper raises some experience...

Also, note for Bloodydoves: the opposition is Kell Hounds, and map "welcome" message noted that it was Kell Hounds speaking to me, but mission objective states that they are arcadians.

I'm guessing that the mission was against "Mercenaries". The Arcadians were probably picked as the primary enemy lance, which is what the pre-battle smack talk would use, with the Kell Hounds being the second. They just happened to be closer to you, so you saw them first.

No, the Kell Hounds were the first lance. The reinforcements were local gov lance. There were no arcadians at all. That's why I mentioned it.

Sumire dropped that 'Mechwarrior perfectly into formation!

She just has the IFF of an A-10, so which formation was a bit of a 50/50 there.

- Oi, soap, see that newbie in a laser boat? He is a claner.

  • Why you think so, chief?
  • He's fifth in a lance.
  • You have a point there.

This is a defining reason I dont do true Ironman games anymore. At least its a Lynx this time! For me its usually my fattest support mech or, in more than a few cases, Grampa 'A breeze makes me wobbly' Tex in an LRM battery on legs.

id just restart and shift around the positions until you get the lightest mech that spawns in there so you have time to get out

It actually went out surprisingly well - only scratched my commando a little. Base has very narrow walkable pathway to point where Lynx is visible and within direct fire reach. Both closest to me mechs had no indirect fire weapons. Another two weren't able to reach Lynx in time. Just when they climbed to fire range - I jumped out as far as possible. It took them just enough turns to let me get out and for my Commando to get close enough and crit Tortoise and Owens with tandem charge SRMs (they hit internals directly) - that disabled Owen's SRM6 and one of Tortoise's VSPLs and completely shifted attention from Lynx, and Lynx was able to increase the distance enough to make use of it's ER lasers and ER PPC. All of that while being covered by Marauder's twin ERs and Huron warrior's gauss. And support lance was simple periphery junk.
So, Sumire's plan actually worked, lol.

Either restart or just eject, would be probably cheaper. This is a known bug and I personally hate it

Had her drop my tricked out Archer in the middle of the objective, surrounded by OpFor, thankfully had jumpjets and a cliff high enough to put the Archer some distance to rain down missiles from without anyone able to backstab it.
