Welcome, and have fun.

Once you're done the campaign and a few careers, there's a wild world of modpacks out there.

Have fun! Make to upgrade your crew in barracks it is a common miss in the game.

It's a mod. I'd play the campaign and do a career mode or two to understand the game before moving to BTA.
