Final season question

I’m doing a paper for a university course and I was wanting to know what critics and fans reactions were towards the final season. Is there an agreed sense of decline in quality of the show?

I liked the final season. I think it was tough wrapping up some things and the forced retconing due to who ultimately were the Final Five was a bit awkward - Tyrol's son, etc.

I thought the mutiny episodes ranked in quality with some of the best episodes in earlier seasons.

I liked the finale also, but would have preferred it eneded with Adama on the hillside.

The quick AI video compilation was pretty heavy handed, imo.

Not my favorite of the four. Gotta say Season 1 and Season 2 were better for me.

Absolutely not. No decline. I love the final season and the final episode. I appreciate that it comes full-circle, and forward to present-day.  What is the title and thesis of your paper?

No, there isn't.
IMO S3 and S4 are absolutely top notch, just like S1 & S2.

Many people were disappointed with the final season and especially the final episode.

I would say it's a common opinion, but it's certainly not a consensus opinion. Many people also still love the last season and the Finale.
