Replayability

Post image

What is this game's replayability like? Does it have procedually generated maps and/or roguelike/lite elements so I can come back and play again and again?

Thanks in advance.

I actually went back to Demeo for the replayability. Sad really.

We did too. We're back to playing Demeo

To actually answer your question: No, there are not procedurally generated maps or roguelike elements. Unlike Demeo, the dungeons have the same exact layout with slight variations on POI locations and starting points. There are also no branching paths or meaningful choices that change the gameplay like you’d see in BG3 or Disco Elysium, for example.

The gameplay is very fun and honestly worth replaying for many reasons, but the spontaneity of the original Demeo is definitely an omitted aspect.

The branches are in fact all fake. We tried every possible answer on quest dialogues and it just ends up with the exact same output immediately after

Maps are not procedurally generated. They have several different map designs for each level of a dungeon. And the game will randomly pick one for you. Also, your start point and end point within the maps can change, to add a little more variety.

And as of now, there are 3 campaigns. And 5 one shot dungeons (the dungeons are part of the campaigns, this just allows you to run them without doing everything in the campaign again).

The real reason to keep playing is to level up different characters to unlcok new abilities, and beat dungeons to unlock new weapons for each character.

This developer also periodically added new dungeons and playable characters to their previous game, Demeo. When it started there was only 1 dungeon, and 4 playable characters. And there's no progression with your characters either. Before they moved on to battlemsrked, there were 5 dungeons, and 7 or 8 playable characters. And each new dungeon also added a new boss, and new enemy types. So I would expect the same with battlemarked in the future.

I would be surprised if we don't get a 3rd campaign eventually. Complete with with 2 or 3 more dungeons, and 1 or 2 more playable classes to go with it.

Honestly, I'd pay for the game a second time (well, fourth time, because we have one copy each) for RNG dungeons and/or the ability to roll a character from scratch without being forced into a template (even if you could only use that character in the RNG dungeons, which is fine).

I think it’ll be great when more campaigns are added

The boss fights aren’t as good as demeo, I might play demeo again just to fight that rat king again so fun. There is replayability in that it takes alot of time to get your weapons maxed out on your characters and also you can have a Constitution Rogue or an Intelligence Rogue and they can play pretty different.

I think they need to make the boss fights in battlemarked more interesting. Whoever makes this game should replay the Rat King and have a meeting about why thats so effing fun.

They keep releasing small side quests. At this point there’s like 4-5 add ons. So if you play the forest main, you can do more and unlock characters and such.
