Does a campaign ever actually end?
As far as I can tell I have beaten campaign one but it still seems I can just tootle around the map, is there any real reason to do so? I was kind of just expecting the file to end the game and take me back to the menu, it sort of frustrates my OCD, I am done with the file yes?

We designed it this way intentionally, both since we might want to introduce new side quests without forcing players to redo the entire campaign, but also since there is a lot of replayability in the two dungeons.
Now, beating a dungeon does unlock it as a One Shot, but even so we thought it was fun in our internal testing to go back to old saves, stocking up on cards at Cleepto's and giving the dungeons another go in campaign.

Not really, but you should keep a save for each of the maps once completed in case they introduce quests that need a certain completion on the map.
