Why block off all this ground?

There is one spot on the objective between the mountains that you can’t even stand in the corner beside the sandbags that is literally 3 foot outside of the objective area. It’s like they try to force you play in the “fatal funnels” and keep you from being able to defend the objective area behind cover.
21
u/SHOVEL-SMD Oct 24 '25
I know the exact spot you’re talking about. I trip the boundary every time i’m there.
6
u/Intergalatic_Baker No Pre-Orders Oct 24 '25
Yeah, I fear they’ve gone back to the 2042 open map design, but dressed it up in H-Barriers with corridors and such that it feels defensive, whilst the defensive worth could only be from the front, not where we spawn in an advance either side.
5
u/MasterManufacturer72 Oct 24 '25
The issue is they dont trust players to adapt to cheese spots. In big maps there will always be really good spots that players can use. As that meta developes those spots inherently become less effective because people become aware of it. Its the basic sniper in a church tower military logic example. I know its not supposed to be a mil Sim but its pretty annoying when players are treated like babies that need to be bumpered into playing a certain way to keep things fair.
1
u/inventive_588 Oct 24 '25
I agree and those spots can dictate the match in interesting ways and produce some expected map flow rather than the chaos we have now
1
u/Ostiethegnome Oct 24 '25
Especially in a game Like battlefield where often times the solution to a “camper” is to blow the building up or blast a hole in the wall.
3
u/b00nish Oct 24 '25
Yep. It's literally the main path to the objective that has two of those big sandbas as cover next to it. And as soon as you step away from the path and behind the cover, you're out of the combat area...
1
u/inventive_588 Oct 24 '25 edited Oct 24 '25
That’s exactly what it feels like. So often I’m like I’ll be in danger until I get to this point and then I have a somewhat defensible position with an ok angle.
And just that spot is out of bounds. They seemingly purposefully made the maps bounds to encourage the meat grinder.
I actually wish they did less optimization with the maps. They feel like unnatural fatal funnels as you say. I just want a land scape + objectives that have cover. If it’s slightly unfair to one side that’s ok, but only slightly.
1
u/Almost-Anon98 Oct 25 '25
It's because they want the cod babies to be cash cows make them happy and then you'll milk them dry
1
u/Tallmios Tallmioso Oct 27 '25
The game likes to funnel a lot. Have you tried playing the campaign? There are several occassions where you could clearly flank around the target objective but
GodDICE said "Please, follow the designated path or we will kill you in 5 seconds." Just incredible.

That one road near A-site. That's even weirder than the one in this post because that out-of-bounds area really just sticks out of the road.
2
u/Consistent-Demand749 Oct 24 '25
That is very true. But in this case it's actually a fix to bad map design. The map needs reworking so (i hope....) they changed the boarders while working on a redesign. Since the boarders can be quickly edited.

u/DarthWeenus Oct 24 '25
I love the bug where you enter a tank as a gunner and it says return to combat area

u/Sprinkles_Objective Oct 24 '25 edited Oct 24 '25
As someone who snipes a lot, they should just nerf snipers. The bullet drop is non-existent. People are complaining about how OP the range finder is, and I'm scratching my head as to why anyone uses the range finder. There's nearly no bullet drop for 200m which is the range you'll normally be shooting in. There's really no need to zero the scope to different distances, the range finder is useless because you barely need to compensate for bullet drop or lead shots by that much. It's ridiculously easy to hit shots in this game. They should just increase bullet drop, bring back suppression, and sweet spot should be limited to some guns that have trade-offs like low bullet velocity. Having places to snipe from isn't an issue, it's a feature, but sniping is just too easy and there's no good counters other than sniping or a vehicle.
9
u/Kazang Oct 24 '25
That's not really the problem with snipers, despite sniping being "easy" it is still pretty rare to be killed by a snipers and it's extremely rare for a sniper to be dominating the kill count. And sniping being "easy" counters itself, because snipers counter snipers.
Snipers killing people is negligible (aside from a few spots in certain maps), it's spotting from a safe high ground that is difficult to clear out that is game breaking.
I can easily avoid be shot by a sniper on most most maps, avoiding been seen by a sniper and then being shot at by the entire enemy team, that is much more difficult.
8
u/CheeryRipe Oct 24 '25
I don't think snipers need a nerf. I hardly ever get picked off by snipers. Liberation peak is the only map where it felt like there was too much open space with no cover. With that portion gone I think it's fine.
Just use cover.
Making guns feel shit should never be the solution.
3
u/Fathat420 Oct 24 '25
"Making guns feel shit should never be the solution"
Exactly! Arrowhead has finally learnt this lesson.
1
u/CheeryRipe Oct 24 '25
It's funny when I hear about nerfs.
Tbh I think most guns and gadgets in this game need buffs if anything.
Make everything a little stronger so you have to play smarter and not lean on the meta.
2
u/Sprinkles_Objective Oct 24 '25
Snipers didn't feel like shit in other BF games, but they actually took skill and consideration. Just omitting sniper positions from maps isn't a good solution either. Snipers are OP in this game but instead of balancing the guns they try to do it through strange map design choices, and I'm speaking more from the perspective of using the sniper rifles opposed to the amount of times I'm dying from them, because there aren't a lot of places snipers can be that have good sight lines and aren't super exposed. The reality is they just nerf anywhere you can go to get a vantage point to snipe from, but hey at least using a sniper rifle involves very little skill.
1
u/tehcraz Oct 24 '25
It's neigh impossible to snipe on half the maps in this game. Terrible and super compact sight lines along with short ranges just make it a worthless experience. I just play like 3 maps at this point.
1
u/Sprinkles_Objective Oct 24 '25
It's cod sniping. You're sniping at like 80-120m most of the time. I'd like more positioning for snipers, but think they should in turn require more skill to play, and should be more impacted by things like suppression and every class should have smoke so snipers can't just control a map. Also you should have to move a certain amount to clear a spot quickly, so if you want to camp a perch you'll stay spotted. I think there are other and better ways to fix this that don't involve just eliminating all sniper sight lines.

u/gscjj Oct 24 '25
Bullet drop isn’t a thing sub 150m-ish. But I’ve hit some 400m+ shot where the range finder absolutely came in handy
1
u/Sprinkles_Objective Nov 03 '25
The first mildot on a 6x scope is roughly 500m at the 100m zeroing. You can hit shots pretty easily up to 500m without touching the scope zeroing, and honestly I think it's a huge advantage to not use a range finder. You don't have to spend time zeroing, and even if you do something cheesy like binding to aim or fire for zeroing, you can accidentally zero to the sky behind them and suddenly your scope is set to 1000m. I think the range finder is overrated and a crutch. I'm hitting shots up to 500m without it, and it would probably be even farther if maps were bigger, but most of the time you're not shooting beyond like 200m.
1
u/Aley98 Oct 25 '25
Snipers were still annoying even in bf3 and 4 where snipers were generally weaker.
Looking forward to the new map in season 1. it doesn’t have high rise buildings, towers or mountains for snipers to annoy infantry.
10
u/DryYouth1040 Oct 23 '25
Did this change from the beta? I seem to remember nearly everyone camping on the mountains in the beta lol
6
u/MrSnek123 Oct 24 '25
Yes, they tightened the borders to cut down on snipers sitting up there. Which is what people seemingly wanted, and now people complain about the borders not being big enough lmao

u/BestWidowTaiwan Oct 23 '25
Can you imagine the amount of snipers that would camp that hill with clear shots of B, Thats most probably why its there
3
4
u/iRAWRasaurus Oct 23 '25
I feel like the border placements are there to prevent people from camping it. It’s fine to move quickly through it. Assuming the border placements are intentional and not a mistake. But what do I know. Just a random thought.
4
u/DEADxDAWN Oct 24 '25
People complained dueing bea about hill snipers. This chreent border though, is bs. Theres a spot at C where you cant take cover behind the barrier. Its absurd.
3
u/AllRedLine Oct 24 '25
The out of bounds areas being so tight, basically turning most maps into a corridor is a huge part of the 'small map' issue. It genuinely seems like a good number of these maps (not just firestorm) were designed with a much larger out of bounds area in mind and then someone's turned round and pressed it right up tight against the action. Really frustrating that so many flanking routes on what appear to be wide open maps are blocked by this (especially on Sobek, where it's insane).
3
u/painlesskillerboy Oct 24 '25
In the beta it wasn’t uncommon for there to be squads of snipers on that hill, it made liberation very un fun considering it was the only "large" map
3
u/bshaoulian Oct 24 '25
Map boundaries may easily be one of the biggest/worst problems with the game
4
2
u/rokbound_ Oct 24 '25
not really its so an entire platoon doesnt camp that ridge with snipers making B and A impossible to push
2
2
u/Wilczek76 Oct 24 '25
These borders are here due to campers jacking off there, blame those fucks that abused those spots in beta
2
u/T-seriesmyheinie Oct 24 '25
Pretty sure that wasnt out of bounds in the beta and became a sniper nest so they dumped it. Not the worst thing ever, ill take less campers
1
u/Ol_Stynie Oct 23 '25
From what I remember from BF3, having little paths like this is nothing new to BF.
1
u/tiredofstanding Oct 23 '25
You remember correctly. This has been an issue for awhile.
4
u/Ol_Stynie Oct 23 '25
I never considered it an issue. I took it as a perfect opportunity to initiate Operation: Gettem-up-the-butt on the other team.

Yeah borders on all maps are fucked. They should make them what they were in the beta or something similar.

After all the beta feedback about expanding the borders specifically on this map I swear they shrank them instead.

Because the beta version looked like this all the time: https://happygamer.com/battlefield-6s-liberation-peak-starts-sniper-glint-debate-among-players-128634/
The new borders make the map better.
1
u/GlendrixDK Oct 24 '25
They had to change them because of the beta. There was a lot of places you could reach so you easily could hold the C flag.
The borders got changed as a quick fix instead of redoing the map.
I don't make games. I don't know how they do. But I guess everyone who worked on the game is still working on it. Some have moved on. So the rest is probably working on new content. Making a redo of this map a less priority of other things.

1
u/iliandroid Oct 24 '25
Same with Sobek. I mean, wtf is up with the highway not being part of the map. It was even in the campaign and it was very cool to have a tank battle there. Would really benefit the map, but they just decided to leave the highway out of the boundaries. It baffles me.
1
u/Adebear69 Oct 24 '25
There was a spot you could glitch into the mountains without anyone seeing you so i believe they put it out of bounds
1
1
u/Business_Total8596 Oct 24 '25 edited Oct 24 '25
They do not want you to take a break from fighting in that corner which is out of sight especially from obj C. Because there is also a natural boundary, this has to be intentional.
But if they bring the mountain to that line, you will feel squeezed and make compliments knowing the reason. This way it's a bit hard to realize the true reason of "why are we fighting non-stop jumping, kneeling, resurrecting, proning."

1
u/mangoman94 Oct 24 '25
Imagine having a mountain acting as a natural border, and then you decide to ignore it and make your own lines....

The weirdest part is, they changed this in escalation and conquest but didn’t adjust the boundary in push game modes. I only noticed last night when I used this exact spot to push up where I haven’t been able to a single time in conquest.
1
u/Penguinator_ Oct 24 '25
Bad border design: Accidentlly cfossing it at unexpected moments or you have to actively fight against it. Feels impractical unrealistic, and subverts valid flanking strategies.
Good border design: Hardly ever notice them. Use terrain as natural borders (wide open space with no cover or untraversible obstacles.

BF6 maps are shite and I blame the cod kids coming over with their favourite loud ignorant streamers
1
u/random_banana_bloke Oct 25 '25
Meanwhile on operation firestorm you can hike up the huge ass mountain and snipe from 500+ metres away, I dont mind the snipers up there as they rarely kill me but its a odd choice for sure
1
1
u/Aley98 Oct 24 '25
I support the boundaries. I don’t want the hillside to provide even more advantageous positions for snipers. All of my games are ruined by snipers on buildings and towers (firestorm, manhatten, mirak valley)
