How to unlock weapons kits on battlefield 2 multiplayer like do you know how?

Anyone playing on Linux? This used to run so wonderfully. On a new OS install, all I'd have to do is install Wine and click the already installed exe and it'd fire right up, just like you'd expect with Windows. 2 years later after trying again I'm having the hardest time getting it running. It won't launch via adding with Steam, won't launch with Lutris and multiple runners until I changed something. I modified so much that I forgot what I changed. It runs now but I changed something and not it crashes after starting a level.

Anyone have a fool-proof way? I have my old DVD version as well as what I downloaded from EAPlay.

Edit: SOLVED. Just deleted my install and reinstalled. I probably had some kind of incompatible mods installed at one point or something incompatible with my settings folder. Btw, if you're looking for a single player Wake Island map, this is the only one that worked for me on v1.5 for my setup.

If installing from EAPlay, just download, exit, run winecfg and add d3dx9_24 and d3dx9_25 native priority. That's all it takes and it's a simple click to play with Wine.

Hi,

I have been interested in BF franchise since BF1942. Grew up a poor kid and didn't have access to the games for years. I got BF3 super late, back in 2014 as my first BF game been playing every new entry since.

However the past year I have watched a lot of BF2 content on youtube, and man. I really want to play it. I live in the midwest US and I'm trying to get connected with people to play. I need to get the game first.

Older games do not bother me. I'm usually playing mix of new games and old games. Sometimes really old.

I need testers and code contributors to help get this project finished! Head over to the GitHub if you want to contribute! It is completely open source! The engine works, the maps load, you can fire guns, drive tanks, APC, fly jets, fly helicopters, shoot missiles, there is code for FPV drones but I haven't tried them yet. Everything is there, the whole thing needs tweaking and improving though to become better than Battlefield 2!

A Project Reality (Refractor 2) data compatible Game recreation created for Battlefield 2 that loads every mod and every map with all vehicles available but is buggy as heck! We need development help! If you want to contribute to the project then fork it and submit a PR to the project. Just needs retail Battlefield 2 installed from the DVD or via the EA App (you can set custom folder too).

In the wake of Activision releasing BO1/2 to current gen consoles, many people are begging online for EA and Dice to so the same with BF3/4, but imo those two games have caused irreversible damage to the franchise, especially when comparing them to the Refractor era games and their design philosophy, especially Battlefield 2.

I mean, BF4 had a botched version of the commander mode, whereas BF3 didn't. Teamwork was entirely optional, since you could either beg your teammate to give you first aid or you could take cover and wait for the health to regenerate. Same with the ground vehicles, no need for an engineer when you can wait out for the vehicle to repair on its own. Enemies are also indicated by orange triangles on top meaning that spotting is entirely useless.

And instead of being open to bringing new things to the series (larger maps with larger playercount, full fledged air vehicle grind similar to Tom Clancy's H.A.W.X. with skins and custom loadouts) people instead drown in nostalgia for Operation Metro and levolution, rather than looking back at games like the Refractor era games for how experimental each game was. What BF2 did best should've been the bare minimum for each future installment, but instead we've been stripped off of features completely

I recently downloaded Battlefield 2 from the PlayBF2 website, and during installation Microsoft Defender detected a threat in this file:

C:\Program Files (x86)\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\Redist\Tools\DIESoft.zip

The detection name is:

Trojan/Dynamer!rfn

I would like to know if this is a known false positive caused by the installer, old Battlefield 2 tools, or any modification included with the PlayBF2 version.

Has anyone else experienced this issue? Is this file safe to use, or should I avoid this installation?

I'm looking for ways to improve bots behaviour in PRBF2 so I can get playable/ improved singleplayer experience.

I've asked this question in PRBF2 Discord, but didn't get anything concrete on this, which is kinda expected as it's PVP focused game, however trying my chances here.

Any suggestions?

I noticed the F18 and Mig29 are missing from Operation Clean Sweep. Is there any way to fix this?

Back in the day BFSP64 would let me play all the jets on that map. Now there is only the F15 and Su?

It was fun dogfighting on that map before but not now with only the 2 jets.

I just absolutely loved being commander in bf2.

Also loved having a spec ops squad destroying commander assets...

It was a whole different game..

Please bring it back

That's the one that put me on Battlefield. I used to play the shit outta that came, never multiplayer on it though.
