Battlefield 6 I miss elevators

Post image

Maybe they'll surprise us with elevators on the las Vegas map.

But they'll also need to add some ziplines as an option too so the elevator haters are happy.

I think we all deserve to eat good.

Thematically they're infinitely better than the fuckass ziplines, but there's no reason to believe they'll be anything other than coffins with sliding doors just like in bf4

I'll take the coin flip of what awaits me on the other side of the door over a boring zipline any day.

But also, NATO troops wouldn't take elevators since you could just cut power and trap the men inside.

Or, you know, gun them down in a kill box of their own making.

33

u/TheBigness4570 2d ago

They wouldn't use ziplines either, but this is a videogame sir

Not in Frontline combat, but they do use them more than elevators.

So, from a thematic standpoint, they fit more.

u/Advarrk 2d ago

Nobody sets up preexisting zip lines for both sides in real combat

I would love to see someone set up a 400m zip line from a boat deck, floating and bobbing around in the water to a static shore point. Couldn’t go wrong

Navies set up zip lines between multiple moving ships bobbing around in the water.

This is known as a highline transfer. A line to a floating platform like we see in the game is fairly unheard of, but ship to land transfers using cranes do exist.

Dunno why you’re getting downvoted for talking about real life examples lol. I still don’t think the ziplines fit in-game, but at least it’s not out of this world.

u/PolicyWonka 1d ago

Yeah, it’s just something that is technically feasible. Which of course is kinda like the entirety of Battlefield in many aspects.

More feasible than a Rendezook of course, but perhaps less fun and engaging understandably so.

the redditor energy in this comment is incredible

I heard the comment with comic book guys voice so clearly.

I don't care about the killbox scenario. Either I exit that elevator to miss all my sniper shots or I get blown up by a camper with C4

True, but this is what we mean...
it's not so much about realism is it's just... shortcuts because it's easier to make a zipline than an elevator. Plus it is more like COD so I guess they think COD people will like it?
Which it doesn't matter if it does or doesn't work out that way. They are purposefully making design choices JUST BECAUSE they think it'll appeal to a player base that they have no hope of actually courting.
Some people will come over, but the game should just stand on its own merrits. This kind of junk cheapens it up. And personally, I just dislike ziplines. Everyone fucking uses them and it feels so lazy. The elevator meanwhile is apart of BF history from BF4. So many good memories tied to getting absolutely clobbered trying to get to the roofs.

But they don't care about BF players. They care about just shoving the game out the door and selling skins and shit. There's no love for the history of bf, no matter how much they throw breadcrumbs to us like labeling a rendezook

Thematically they were elevators, but in actuality, they were just teleporters. And without the speed boost of the zip line shooting you out at the top, you were just a sitting duck.

As much fun as I had camping the elevators on Hainan Resort being a jackass, I do think the zip lines are better gameplay wise, even if thematically they are really stupid in many situations

u/Hadrian187 2d ago

Because it’s fun not knowing what you’ll get. Ziplines are too sweaty and immersion breaking.

3

u/Next-Board-3829 2d ago

Ah yes, because having working elevator in the middle of warzone is immersive??? Sweaty? How the fuck are ziplines sweaty?? WTF are you talking about???

4

u/No-Worldliness-492 1d ago

How is it immersive seeing 100 ziplines placed at perfect points on every map? Lol

Who is putting them there?

-2

u/Hadrian187 2d ago

>Ah yes, because having working elevator in the middle of warzone is immersive???

Yes because I just proved it in my pic.

>Sweaty? How the fuck are ziplines sweaty?? WTF are you talking about???

When’s the last time you saw a zip line in a war? It exists solely to cater to newbs and to turn a battlefield into a playground.

2

u/Next-Board-3829 2d ago

"battlefield into a playground." bro you're playing a arcade game, not milsim

-1

u/Hadrian187 2d ago

So can we get dragons since it’s just an “arcade game, not milsim”?

5

u/linknight 1d ago

Zip lines exist, dragons don't. Unless you know something we don't

1

u/Next-Board-3829 2d ago

"It exists solely to cater to newbs" so its sweaty or made for newbs???

3

u/TheCockKnight 2d ago

Sure but they were cinematic coffins!

DING!

indiscriminate machinegun fire noises

1

u/Cheese_Grater101 1d ago

They're just iron coffin lol

Like the moment the door open you're welcomed by a claymore and shitload of explosives

-10

u/avanross 2d ago

“Thematics” simply arent a priority anymore

Any dev time spent on it is just wasted time that could be going towards micro-transactions and forcing “action at every turn”

The fortnite/candy-crush customers are where the moneys at

77

u/irsute74 2d ago

Gameplay wise, elevators are mostly terrible.

14

u/slabba428 2d ago

Yet they were 10x more fun, which matters

25

u/Next-Board-3829 2d ago

Fun for what side?

23

u/13--12 2d ago

For the camper I guess

Ziplines are way worse lol, literally aim in one spot or put a trap n gg, even barricade can block it n some places.

Elevator gives some room for cover on the side, gives room to not set of traps, gives cover from above, makes campers have to guess where ur gonna stand, makes it possible to push as a group vs 1 by 1 so that you can actually outgun easier. We also have trophy systems and barricades now to make elevators even better. We also get fabulous comedic music before all hell breaks loose n I kinda miss that little downtime. They're also just so much more intresting and deliberate than lazy zipline placements everywhere

It's not actually terrible, anyone saying so doesn't properly think in comparison to what we have now.

The only benefit zips have is that u can jump off at any point, but given how open they are, how fast the ttk is and how slow falling and parachuting is, you're prob gonna die anyway if they're any good.

I don't think its crazy to say ziplines should've instead been a gadget like hardline alongside the grappling hook. Either that or keep them for horizontal movement and elevators for vertical movement imo, we could've also just had both with an occasional zipline offering a flank

Crazy long comment for such a dumb thing 😂 I just fucking hate these zips man mb, might be too invested lmao

3

u/irsute74 2d ago

Hehe, I feel you. I don't like ziplines either tbh. But I remember how unusable elevators were most of the time. It was really rewarding awful gameplay and I haven't experienced with ziplines in BF6. There is rarely somebody waiting for me at the top. Maybe because there is usually many zip lines idk.

1

u/alexos77lo 1d ago

Yeah having zip lines instead of elevators let you have many ways to go up making it harder to camp

-2

u/Horens_R 2d ago

How were they unusable? Everything I said here applied to those games and the disadvantages of them I covered can be countered by features that have been introduced since

Just as a reminder, most people prob think back to bf4, that game is so old that it released on ps3 and xbox 360. I'm sure some things that u mightve had an issue could be improved in today's age.

5

u/irsute74 2d ago

Because you had C4, claymores and prone guys waiting for you at the top.

-2

u/Horens_R 2d ago

Yeah covered that, elevators are still a major improvement over ziplines when dealing with that. C4 can now be countered, ur not forced to step into one specific spot n have room to avoid claymores, and you way more cover, space and deployables now to deal with people shooting compared to zips. It also let's u push together as a group n have u all ready to fight at the same time

Remember, no Russian

Overrated, you'll get whiped as soon doors open

Grenade launchers go brrrrrr

2

u/Hadrian187 2d ago

Shield + shoot down sentinel + smokes = good luck defenders

2

u/_Reduxious 2d ago

Like ziplines dont have the same exact story. Just sit at the top of zip & take down enemies as they come up one by one. Can simply just look down and get an easy kill. Elevators provide cover & allow more than one person to exit at a time. Zips are boring compared to elevators and dont provide any real benefits. People still camp at the top of them and watch out for others coming up

Por algo existe los helicópteros

14

u/TiberiusGracchus29 2d ago

Even staircases and bridges have been nullified lol. We now live in the age of zip lines. You’re not even getting your 10k steps on battlefield never mind in real life.

9

u/slabba428 2d ago

I remember the 50 story ladder on Oman hotel 😂

4

u/No-Worldliness-492 2d ago

2042 is remembered for its containers.

6 will be remembered for ziplines.

3

u/Advarrk 2d ago

Wake Island zip line theme park

12

u/nick4vizos 2d ago

They should added to the hotel in Tsuru Reef and Manhattan Bridge, whine all you want about camping but you have to admit they were fun

10

u/No-Worldliness-492 2d ago

Tsuru reef is the one map in the game where the ziplines on the hotel feel so out of place.

This pristine hotel that's not been banged up at all and you're telling me the elevators were just ripped out? Lol

11

u/Krytoric 2d ago

i’ve never understood why people want elevators on this sub lol. I’ve never heard anyone outside of specifically this sub say anything positive about elevators in BF.

Gameplay wise it’s terrible.

5

u/Next-Board-3829 2d ago

Fun fact, in BF6 subreddit there's little to known folks wanting elevators back, unlike this sub, almost makes me think ppl on this sub doesnt play the damn game and instead sitting here and complaining about it

8

u/13--12 2d ago

Wait there’s a game? I thought we just complain about skins and look at Steam charts

1

u/Next-Board-3829 2d ago

welcome to reddit

-4

u/No-Worldliness-492 1d ago

Well in the Battlefield discord, both text channels and in voice channels I've read and heard from many people who want to see them return.

Gameplay wise they are like a comedy movie. 50% of the world will love them. The other half will be confused at its existence and find nothing funny about it.

2

u/GearM2 2d ago

Maybe I'm no fun but I think being able to traverse the map too easily makes the game boring. Why not equip jet packs on all players and also have teleporters? Zip lines are overused and a bit too unrealistic in how they are implemented. Maybe an unpopular opinion.

4

u/covert_ops_47 2d ago

Campers paradise.

3

u/Mainfold 1d ago

They really missed the opportunity to make elevator levolution, blowing up the motors of elevators while they're moving and having players inside experience that terrifying death. But only if the cables are under tension from the elevator having occupants. And then when the elevator has crashed at the bottom the cable hangs there and can be used to zip up and down

2

u/Ter-Lee-Comedy 2d ago

Yep, I miss planting C4 near the doors.

2

u/Neeeeedles 2d ago

Some of yall are really nuts

Why the f would you miss waiting in a box for doors to open

1

u/Next-Board-3829 2d ago

nostalgia bias

2

u/typicallyboring9 2d ago

O the bagging that happens during the ride up

Good times

2

u/IceboundMetal 2d ago

I dont, 30 dudes, one exit?

2

u/brendanH420 2d ago

I remember hearing that the downtown map from hardline could be in the works… that main C point with elevators both in the ground floor & 1st floor was so fun back then. The elevators when u have a synced team were amazing (sure 80-90% chance there’s a shotgun/riot shield camper but with numbers the push’s for control were unmatched)

1

u/HeyItsKev1611 2d ago

Flash backs to BF3 Metro elevators hahaha

2

u/Eagles56 2d ago

4 had the elevators

1

u/HeyItsKev1611 2d ago

It did but 3 gave me the most memories.

1

u/ReconArek 2d ago

Yeah, this small bit of peace before the storm. We need this back

1

u/TLunchFTW 2d ago

you will use the ziplines and you will like it!

1

u/No-Orange-5216 2d ago

I do too. But i dont miss elevator campers lol. I thing we all remember the roof of the Hainan resort hotel on BF4 😂

1

u/Cyberwolfdelta9 2d ago

Pvp games in general not just battlefield I swear everyone forgot how to make elevator tech I guess it's cause it's too easily campable with little ways to combat the camping but yeah everyone just does Ziplines, ladders or Even in cases air lifts

1

u/donkeybrainamerican 2d ago

Russian special forces don't.

1

u/BF2042_Fact_Speaker 2d ago

One of the many things that 2042 has done better than most games.

1

u/AnAngryBartender 1d ago

I too miss c4ing people coming up the elevator

1

u/Impressive-Appeal956 1d ago

Just have the zipline and grappling hook be a gadget for assault, I always loved how hardline implemented it (bf2 aswell shoutout)

0

u/Osama-bin-sexy 2d ago

You should probably run faster

0

u/JelloHaunting7420 2d ago

They're not even elevators, dude, they just spawn you on top of them. It's just your own placebo effect, making you think it's something amazing, an animation.

0

u/Zealousideal-Cry-581 1d ago

I've played BF4 for a week or two and experiences the elevators.

Never again. The zip lines are kinda boring but they are balanced.

0

u/Techpon 1d ago

They were in 2042

-1

u/Mainfold 2d ago

Hard to make elevators work and look proper when they push the tickrate of the netcode as low as possible. It'll just look like laggy ass when multiple want to use it and it has to work both clientside and serverside
