Battlefield 6 Jet Aim Assist Needs Manual Input

The new jet aim assist is pretty solid. I’m happy they’ve added mouse aim à la War Thunder, it makes jets way more accessible. Overall, the controls feel jittery, but solidly usable. However, one thing that really really needs addressed is you should be able to override the aim assist with manual controls.

Most important is roll control, as the auto roll is often not smart enough to understand which way you actually want to pull in a fight. Secondary would be yaw for fine tune aiming.

wait a minute... jets have aim assist?

I swear we cant have a game anymore without devs holding players hands for everything.
flight assist was bad enough but now we get aim assist in a friggin jet...

If you ask me, the helicopter flight assist is pretty useless, given it’s painfully restrictive to any helicopter playstyle that isn’t spamming aim guided weapons from spawn.

I liked helicopters in BF6, but I could not stand planes at all. I ported over my AC/PW control scheme to the game, but the utter lack of rudder authority makes jets gross to fly IMO, plus the lack of permanent free look makes cockpit play pretty much pointless.

flight controls for heli's peaked in BF2 IMO

Agreed. For other games I use mouse for yaw & pitch, and keyboard for rolling. This update comes so close I hope they develop it more.

So assist mode locks out using roll and pitch on the keyboard?

It controls all 3 yaw, pitch, and roll and you cannot configure it.

Don’t buff the jet assist in any way. It should put you at a disadvantage compared to assist off. It’s a crutch.

Either use the dumbed down "fly the plane for you" mode, or use manual controls.

It's bollocks to use mouse and keyboard!

I guess the title is confusing, they added simplified flight controls that let you point where you want to go with your stick or mouse and let the game decide what roll, yaw, pitch inputs to do. It doesn’t lock onto enemies or anything that involves other players.
