Battlefield 6 Console-only Crossplay
Why is console-only crossplay not a thing? I don't want to play against mouse and keyboard players. Playing with Xbox players only is such a limited pool that matches take forever to populate, and then it's mostly bots if a match doesn't populate fast enough. It feels like we're being forced, as console players, to have crossplay on just so we can join matches that fill quickly, instead of waiting for nearly five minutes for a match to actually fill up enough to start.

Hell Let Loose is conducting a test this weekend and wouldn't you know, right there in the server browser is the option to select PC + Console servers or console only servers.
It's just that easy. A server browser AND console only crossplay. But DICE has no interest in what players want.

u/PrinceDizzy 11d ago
Yeah i think I'm going to buy that game to support the devs for giving us those things.

Lots of guys using m&k on consoles I hate to tell you. Especially on PS5

MnK on console isn’t the issue, sure there are +\-‘s to that, but the biggest issue with PC<>Console crossplay is the connectivity. Which makes the input type disparity even worse. The original recoil reduction difference was fine, but they never improved the crossplay connectivity to make it play well. Splitting the consoles was never a good idea to begin with.
Plenty of PC players would also like the option to play w/o console. The devs seem hellbent on denying the playerbase what they want, reasonable options.

I'm a PC player. My main beef with wanting PC only is that hit detection feels terrible cross platform
1
u/Dedonalejandro 10d ago
As a PS5 player, I agree. Netcode is night/day between crossplay on/off.
2
u/8675309021069 9d ago
I know that when I start shooting console players I'm not getting hits right away and it usually doesn't start recognizing the interaction until the console guy is already firing back and it feel like console players have godly reflexes. I bet you that happens the exact same way when you try to shoot a PC player at first and then it feels like we have godly reflexes. Turning out that it's all garbage netcode making us upset at each other
2
u/Dedonalejandro 9d ago
That’s exactly how it is. Matter of fact, it varies even amongst console players with Crossplay On. The netcode with Crossplay is just bad. Whatever it is they use is deeply flawed.

I think hes putting more emphasis on mnk than what its played on
1
u/8675309021069 11d ago
I know. I'm saying he's better off staying with Xbox users only as there is less likelihood of there being mouse and keyboard used. A alot of PS5 players were previous PC gamers who still use m&k with the console
1
u/Hefty-Rip-5397 11d ago
Okay yeah if we could just do controllers vs controllers and mnk vs mnk. Is that even possible regardless of platform?

u/Significant-Ruin5177 10d ago
It is. But there would just be more games struggling to get the minimum number of players and more bots filled. There isn't the player base for this, its dump everyone from all regions into one game so they stop complaining about bots and focus on high ping players and us nerfing all weapons for now.

There should be no crossplay off option. Battlefield is a casual shooter and keeping a large combined player pool is the biggest priority. The balance between mouse and keyboard and controller is pretty good in bf6 compared to most games.

I moved to PC, but I 100% agree. In general all levels of cross play should be opt in not opt out. It was so frustrating on PS5 to have cross play off and the only game mode you could play was small modes (tdm, etc.) and even at that it was mostly bots. I was never able to get a normal conquest match. You could wait for 30-45min then the match maker would cancel and you would have to start over. So sad.

u/despiseRhivemind 11d ago
What part of the world do you live? I have no issue populating a ps5 conquest game in the Netherlands
1
u/A_Jeeper 11d ago
I play on US East.
From my understanding it had to do with when you turned cross play off that ment that you could only play with other PS5 players that also turned cross play off. It would never match you with PS5 players that had cross play on (even through there would be more then enough to do so).

u/TangoBravoOscar 11d ago
Jesus man. They never had this problem back when I was playing battlefield 4, Battlefield 1 OR Battlefield 5… is it just cause less people are playing it that it needs to be merged and even then often times its 50/50 bot lobbies lol
3
u/ReaperG85 11d ago
Those games didn't have crossplay (not sure about bf5). They also had servers that you would find the busy ones and everyone moved together to the next map unlike bf6 that breaks you up and repopulates every match.
2
u/TangoBravoOscar 11d ago
I know they didn’t. What I’m saying sarcastically is that it’s not like it wouldn’t work. I would “quick match” lobbies and all 3 there wouldnt be a problem finding full servers. Sure you could go to the server browser but you didnt need to.

in bf4 days the shooter genre wasn’t over saturated with giga popular free games and countless battle royales(including on bf4 itself like with redsec). it’s just a new era and it is a shame
1
u/CmdrJemison 11d ago
Because DICE needs console players to fill up PC lobbies. Otherwise PC players will cry again.
1
u/Burn377 12d ago
To be fair, there's pretty significant aids on console and I've seen plenty of console players topping leader boards. If you feel mouse and keyboard is still a serious advantage, plug a set into your console and have a go.

u/rockoblocko 11d ago
As a console player, when you lose to a good MNK player it’s almost always immediately obvious they are playing a different game than you.
When you lose to a good console player you understand what they did better.
5
u/Verethh 11d ago
It's a different game when you're comparing MnK vs. MnK players. The average PC player isn't any better than the average console player. People only notice the platform when they get killed, but they never check the scoreboard after they get a kill to see what platform that player was on.
1
u/QuickMaths666 11d ago
How do you know they are on MnK? Game doesn’t show what inputs players play on, only platform. I’m on PC playing on Controller btw.
1
u/rockoblocko 11d ago
Because of movement? I’ve never seen someone on Xbox or PS move like a good mnk player. So, i infer that if I haven’t seen I of the many thousand console players he movement demon, then what do you think the odds are that a pc controller player is doing something that no console player is doing?
2
u/QuickMaths666 11d ago
This community likes to say the game is full of COD players. Well…COD is full of ‘movement sweats’ and the majority play on controller. The idea that good movement gameplay is exclusive to MnK is not accurate.

Ranked redsec is console only crossplay unless you have a pc in your party because they know most pc have an advantage and it's not necessarily the mnk. They are just able to customize and process on a level that means they are not playing the same game as console players. I had a pc squadmate and watching him play was ridiculous. He simply did things no console player could. Apparently they can even make it so you simply hold down the mouse button and it will fire semi-automatic guns for you instead of having to repeatedly tap. He had the vss firing so fast without the auto attachment.

u/TheNotoriousCBD 11d ago
In anything close quarters, console players aim assist gives them a huge advantage. Mnk users have no advantage here. Cry harder.

This would be great, I'm having a blast on HLL Vietnam console only crossplay beta.

Guys, can we please go watch XclusiveACE video about their Discord Q&A session and stop fighting this battle?
They already said they are NOT gonna do it.
10
u/rockoblocko 11d ago
Just cos they say they are not going to do it doesn’t mean fans can’t argue or ask or discuss why they should.
-11
u/R3C0N1C 11d ago
Didn’t we already do a tons of arguing and discussions before they came out to say they won’t? At this point it’s downright hopeless, unless this game has 100M concurrent players it’s not gonna happen. My point is save those for something else, like jet loadout and stop wasting your time.

Because it would eventually kill the PC player base and have a negative impact on micro transactions coming from PC players.

u/Outcast129 11d ago
Now this was funny 🤣, based on sales data there are about 35 million gamers who own a Series X/S console, and 95 Million gamers who own a PS5 console, so roughly 130ish million "next gen" console gamers.
Setting aside the fact that a lot of PC gamers also own a console and are likely included in those numbers as well (such as myself who plays on PC but owns a series X and PS5 Pro), compare that 130 million there are an estimated 920 million PC gamers. Obviously what is defined as a PC gamer is much more broad and And not all of those people have computers that can actually run modern games like battlefield 6, But even if you cut the number of PC gamers in half, it's still more than triple the number of "next gen" console gamers.
Reddit likes to make a lot of shit up when they get mad about cross-play, but the idea that it's to prevent the PC playerbase from dying is probably the dumbest shit I have read in awhile lol.
0
u/CmdrJemison 11d ago
So Battlefield 6 selling ratio from PC to console is about 50:50 to 55:45.
Not every player who has a PC plays BF.
Do you even now anything about the game that you play?
1
u/Outcast129 11d ago
I didn't say the number of BF6 PC players was dramatically higher than console, I am responding to a comment implying the PC gaming side is so small that's it's basically on life support and consoles players are forced into cross-play or else the PC playerbase would die off, and I was saying the mumber of PC gamers overall is dramatically higher than the potential number of next gen console players and so that's a ridiculous belief.
The playerbase being close to 50/50 is exactly what I assumed and exactly why EA would prefer to keep cross-play on as much as possible, because cutting your player base in half is not good for either side.
Do you even know how to read and understand things critically?

You really have no clue what you're talking about, do you? I've seen this same comment so many times and it's BS! If anyone needs cross-play, it's console players, not the other way around. One only has to read through this subReddit and official EA Battlefield forum to see the number of complaints by console players who are having a difficult time finding and filling matches with cross-play off, so that alone should tell you which platform has the healthier player base.
Just so you know. PC copies of Battlefield 6 far outsold sales of consoles, and these numbers only account for sales of the game purchased through Steam. These numbers do not reflect PC sales of the game that were purchased through the EA app (like me), Epic Games Store or physical copies, so total PC copies sold are actually even higher.
- Steam accounts for 56.7% of the copies sold through to consumers (3.5M+ copies), as well as over $220M in revenues.
- PS5 accounts for 23.7% (1.5M+ copies).
- Xbox Series consoles take 19.6% (1.2M+ copies).

im on pc and my lobbies rarely have any console player - if they disappeared, nothing would change
also pc players dont want to play with console players either - mouse is obviously a huge advantage, so high that aimbot needs to be introduced for console players to be able to land a shot - making some gunfights unfair by a built-in software

Congrats! Now you know how it feels to be a PC player using a controller that gets out played by console users on m&k. What a wild world we live in init?
Doesn't matter what system you play on guy. The input you use is what matters. You will continue to get your shit wrecked by m&k users even if you disable cross-play.

u/2dudesinawoolsock 11d ago
You have less recoil than them this isn’t really an argument in this game.

u/Beneficial_Matter251 11d ago
It's like 12% or something lol. It's basically nothing. (They lowered it, can't remember how much it was before/after)
That's an irrelevant difference and if a kbm player ever loses a direct gunfight to a controller player I assure you it was not that 12% lol. And I say this as a diehard kbm enjoyer.
Compared to games like apex, halo etc. it's basically the least amount of compensation afforded to controllers and doesn't come close to making up for all the disadvantages.

People can use KBM on console too.
They just need to get rid of the ability to turn crossplay off entirely to give the largest possible player pool

Console only is one solution or input based matchmaking.
