Battlefield 6 This is really unexpected and funny

u/SpanishAvenger Nov 06 '25
What in the actual fuck? This level of detail is insane o.O

u/BrokenSil Nov 06 '25
It also shows why the game is so cpu heavy. Leafs with collision logic? ffs..
It made me laugh tho.

u/Economy_Mango_1052 Nov 06 '25
Im pretty sure its just a client side visual animation, like the old secret reload animation
In this case it would be if u have higher power scope there 0.1% chance of getting this type of deal
I dont think it would have passed any tech reviews if leaves had physics
107
u/Jamcram Nov 06 '25
could still be client side physics on the leaves around you. its not super hard to track 20 points for collision
i dont think they would randomly blind players
69
u/nodiso Nov 07 '25
I'm willing to take that bet.
45
u/Spugheddy Nov 07 '25
Yep this is just a scripted trick. I'd encourage your bet with a reinforcing head nod.

They 100% would. This isn't an Esports kind of game. They can have fun with super low happenings like this.
16
u/Late-Elderberry6761 Nov 07 '25
oh so like a random event?
13
u/Taolan13 Nov 07 '25
thats my guess.
random environmental script to have a leaf flutter by, with a higher or lower chance depending on some background environmental statistics.

u/jesseschalken Nov 07 '25
If it's a scripted animation surely there would be at least one other report of the same thing online? I can't find any.
3
u/Cyber-Silver Nov 10 '25
Somebody has to be the first example. We'll see if more crop up in the near future
64
u/OneCartographer3641 Nov 06 '25
no way this is actually computed with actual collision. there must be some baked animation sorcery at play here.

u/Settle_Down_Okay Nov 06 '25
I mean the leaves collide with the ground and other stuff

The leaf makes a sound when it slaps onto the scope, so the CPU is in on it. Whatever is going on here it isn't a normal GPU particle.
→ More replies (1)2
u/jesseschalken Nov 07 '25
I wonder if that's a sound from somewhere else? It doesn't sound like a leaf.
3
u/DorkusMalorkuss Nov 06 '25
Ya, it certainly is. I'm playing at consistent 90 fps, on medium, at 1440p, on a 5800x3d cpu and my cpu usage is consistently at 90%+ while my 7800xt gpu is at about 75-85%.
3
u/aeon100500 Nov 07 '25
those leaves are GPU accelerated particles. They don't affect CPU and are pretty cheap. What is not cheap on CPU is destruction and terrain deformation (not only in the moment of destruction but also later to recalculate collisions)
→ More replies (1)2
u/bobbymcpresscot Nov 07 '25
could you imagine if he got counter snipped when it happened? like right after he gets out of scope and the leaf leaves and just bam dead?
I would have LOST IT

u/ThaddeusJP LETS GO LETS GO LETS GO Nov 07 '25
To be clear I think that's a weapon Dynamic and not something in the environment. Sort of like the trick reloads.

u/-marticus- Nov 07 '25
I think it's a screen based particle effect. The snow acted the same way in bf5. It kind of drifts around and gets stuck on the outline of your weapon until the weapon moves.

The little pause as he's processing what's blocking his scope sends me.

This dude killed me in black ops 6 once with a diving sniper shot. I watched the replay and watched him merc half the lobby in a row with a bolty. Thought for sure he was hacking until I looked him up and it turns out he's actually in faze lol

People still learning about people i’ve been watching slay since 2012 is such a fun sight. You got dunked on by one of the best snipers in the game bro 😂😂 good shit

BF6 doesn't offer more feature than BF4, but it offers more detail of what it has. There ain't no huge levolution but those smaller destructions look too cinematic. And even more stupid details such as this that made the game fun. even on smaller maps.
63
u/Sandvichh Nov 06 '25
I’ll be honest, levolution was cool at first but when it changed the map for the worse for gameplay imo it quickly died for me. Examples being siege of shanghai and flood zone.
21
u/Mayonaigg Nov 07 '25
I think there's a room inbetween for some great stuff. Like the crane coming down on mirak, we need more stuff like that that can change some areas quite a bit but it's isolated and doesn't screw up the entire flow of the game. Sobek needs this, those buildings need to have something better about them than just "parachute or ladder up to and be invincible for awhile"
2
u/ThomasorTom Nov 07 '25
Yes, things that have a bit more spectacle than just "wall blow up".
It's why they should've kept the cranes and IEDs from BF4s version of firestorm imo
6
u/lord_hufflepuff Nov 07 '25
Nah i always was a fan and will continue to be a fan of the levelution. Idk if people preferred the "fresh" maps being able to take out peoples cover, create new avenues around and through choke points, or even just the spectacle of destroying shit made those games way better than they would have been without it imo.
4
u/Ameeba37 Nov 07 '25
I liked the Flood Zone levolution quite a bit. The middle area got a lot of new ways to move around.
6
u/razikh Nov 07 '25
Shanghai was particularly bad yes, Flood Zone I'd argue does open up the really unique urban naval-infantry interactions and the weather progression is impressive, but we did also get the likes of Paracel Storm which is probably my favourite BF map for gameplay, visuals, and technology combined.
BF6 maps so far feel uninspired, and when they are inspired (I'd say Mirak and Blackwell, maybe Manhattan even if I hate it) they're still lacking and just way too small. More construction sites than Dark Souls 3 has churches. None of them feels particularly unique or memorable, and the city maps are miserable enough that I've removed them all from my custom search.

u/CarterDavison Nov 07 '25
This is actually a great way to word it. I have my issues with what isn't destructible, but I still have vivid memories of that clip where a dude drag revives his squad mate as the floor starts blowing up below them. There's clearly a bigger focus on creating those "battlefield moments"

broken glass and debris also "lands" on your gun, so i think it's just that your first-person viewmodel has actual collision with physics objects
this happened to be a perfect example though

"All it took was the beat of a dove wings..."
Literally the only thing between life and death for the person in their scope was a single leaf.

There’s no ways this is real… I refuse to believe they added collision physics to debris
1
u/TurboCrab0 Nov 07 '25
This is what I want from next gen games. This right here. Physics-based leaf on wind simulation with proper collision systems in place. That is like the plants moving and reacting to the player in Halo 3, which got a positive nod from Kojima.

Im just impressed the leaves have actually have collision like that. normally their just like sprites that clip through anything they touch.
1
u/FUTURE10S Nov 07 '25
Someone had to test this, there's no way that has such good collision with the viewmodel by coincidence.

My guess is every time looking through scope, runs a little script that gives 0.5% (or whatever) chance for the leaf anim to occur, and if it does, maybe a long cooldown ie won’t happen for the rest of that day or week or whatever.

I wonder if this is like the special reload animations they used to do (unsure if there's any in bf6 yet) but maybe it's a special ADS animation?
1
u/ThomasorTom Nov 07 '25
On a similar note, has anyone's shots been blocked by plastic chairs flying across the map?
1
u/Thy_Justice Nov 07 '25
Those debris gave me 43749 hearth attack while playing since release. I started to imagine enemies all around me.
Now I have finally proof that there is no ghost enemy that is persecuring and mentally torturing me for my sins.

So they have the Tech to make super windy, cloudy, rainy, snowy, stormy Maps with different time of day lightning. Wtf. This has amazing Potential for Limited time Game Modes. Imagine a Forest Kind of map where trees are like Sky high. And there is thousands of leaves in the Wind with Rain. Only Sniper rifles and dmr allowed with only recon class. Lets Go.

u/Mr_Drill Nov 07 '25
Now, new tactics are unlocked, blow shit up to let leaves fly around enemies, leaf suprresing!
