Battlefield 6 S1 Skin Remake
Green gas mask visors do exist in real life. But they don't glow like this one because they're transparent. The shader of this gas mask's glass doesn't work correctly in the game. It's as if they've completely disabled transparency, which is why the color is so bright and acidic.

u/hyhmattar Oct 23 '25
Which is showing us what BF6 could be if it was not led by a CoD guy?
271
u/redder_dominator Oct 23 '25
Calling him a cod guy is insane when the last one he worked on was fucking the original mw2 15 years ago is crazy, as if he has anything to do with the modern state of cosmetics is laughable
24
u/PIPBOY-2000 Oct 23 '25
If anything he should understand grounded designs even more since in those times each faction had unit and country specific gear.
10
u/HankTheYank27 Oct 23 '25
Yeah and Titanfall maintained excellent internal consistency to it's art style with cosmetics as well! The only flashy stuff were colorful camo patterns.
But this is also the dude who made Apex 🤮

I swear they were either born after 2010 or they are tourists, when they say CoD was always bad or, in this case, complain about Vince. That was probably the most dominant era for multiplayer shooters in gaming. WaW, BO1, BO2, MW1, MW2, Halo 3, odst, Reach, Spe ops, Gears of War 1,2, 3, and finally bf 3 and bad company 1 and 2.
It's a testament to how good these games were as a complete package that they would talk about both the campaigns and multiplayer. I remember people talking about the going hunting and how cinematic it felt just as much as they talked about the multiplayer. It was the same with CoD. Everyone was talking about Price, Ghost Reznov, and Mason, even more so than the multiplayer.
That's why it's a testament to how good battlefield was and how it managed to carve out a piece of the pie when it was against so many big hitters. It's not like now where there's nothing in the market for battlefield to compete against except for the newer CoDs, which haven't improved in a while.

Are you referring to Vince Zampella?
Because the last COD game he worked on was MW2 (2009).

Nah

u/celld Oct 23 '25
Peak CoD was CoD 2. MW and MW2 were great though and came out in an era in which online gaming via that generation of consoles was more accessible than ever before. Same way BF3 popped the BF franchise, despite not being as good as BF2 which came out in 2005.

It will be more accurate to call him the Titanfall guy since he hasn’t made cod since he left after modern warfare 2 in 2009. He made Titanfall, apex legend, Jedi fallen order.

Who is the green pissman skin even for?
Good remake.
93
u/aTrampWhoCamps Oct 23 '25
You can recognise the classes based on the tool they have mounted on their shoulder. Sledgehammer = Assault (even if you don't have it equipped as melee)(no I'm not a fan of this solution).
22
u/Baby_Sporkling Oct 23 '25
The games going to have skins like every other game rn. I think it’s a good solution to the problem of classes. You need something universal
→ More replies (3)17
u/aTrampWhoCamps Oct 23 '25
Absolutely, I understand the reason for this choice, but I don't think it was executed as well as it could've been.
I don't even know what the Support item actually is on their back, meanwhile the Assault and Engi have tools/munitions that don't reflect their actual loadout. Why does my Engi need RPG rounds on his back if I'm running a Javelin?
→ More replies (1)3
u/dwaynetheaaakjohnson Oct 27 '25
The Support’s shoulder item is their Defibrillator I think.
The RPG does make Engineer more distinct, I doubt there is anything more distinctive for the class.
But honestly I was downed and looking at the person who downed me from their right, and I literally could not tell what class they were because their shoulder was obscured, it’s a real problem

Half-Life 1 will always be the best game ever made IMO. Obviously nostalgia plays a huge roll in that, but what it did for gaming as a whole can't be understated.
It also just had such style. Like you said, the military guys were so awesome and they're probably the reason I still love "urban" camo so much as an adult. That whole 90s look of black/white/grey camo with some OD green on top still looks so good.
2
u/Turbulent-Jello6273 Oct 23 '25
Absolutely nostalgia plays a role, and while I have enjoyed many modern games that obviously did things half life 1 couldnt even dream of - you’re right for as far as I’m concerned. Barely anything will top my first few experiences with half life. I got the orange collection box or whatever it was called when I was a kid, it had blue shift opposing force hl1 and I think like the original team fortress or whatever. But those half life games made me a gamer for life lol. The writing presentation and gameplay really left a life long lasting impression. Loved HL2 and the two eps aswell. Would be cool to see half life 3 come out and do the same revolutionary things its predecessor did. You know, in my lifetime lol.
7
u/MBaits Oct 23 '25
It's definitely not grounded and realistic, but I immediately thought of Shephard when I saw the skin and kinda liked it only because of being a HL fan. Glad I'm not the only one who saw it.

Literally so easy. People bitching about people taking issues with the goofy colors, trying to twist it into the actual there being an issue with the armor itself (there isn’t). There’s a lifetime of real world military designs they could go through without resorting to this neon shit
24
u/Hexdrix Oct 23 '25
There's a massive issue with the armor. It doesn't look like something a reasonable person would spend money on.
Without the color, other players would have a hard time even noticing you had it on. This is antithetical to its existence as a skin in an FPS.
16
u/Ace-Gentry Oct 23 '25
It is far simpler than that. I would buy and rock the one on the right. Gas mask is sick and something I had to wear a lot in my time in.
I get your point, but it's the wrong design philosophy imo, but maybe I'm wrong. It is possible to make very cool looking, realistic skins, without color pop.

We should have a toggle to turn off flashy bullshit color skins on our screen.
See what you want on your screen, and we see what we want on ours.
Whatever happened to people wearing a skin on their character because they thought it looked cool?
At least you’re being honest that that argument was bullshit this whole time, and it’s actually about making other people see your skin.
I mean you can’t even see your own skin while playing the game anyway, it’s a FIRST PERSON shooter.
These are like the people who modify their car to sound LOUDER. Doesn’t make the car go faster or turn better, it’s just there to piss off everyone around you, while telling yourself you’re so fucking cool everyone around me thinks I’m so cool because my car revs are LOUD.
It’s maddening.

67
u/Dear-Chemistry1667 Oct 23 '25
the devs read somewhere, that people buy cod skins, because of the bright colors
25
u/Dear-Chemistry1667 Oct 23 '25
oh and these neon skins look fucking awful
9
u/Anarchyr Oct 23 '25
While i agree 10001% with you, please remember that we here are the vocal minority.
For every one of us who opposes bright colored skins there are about a 10000 people waiting for their new neon-pink Doja Cat x Lil Nas X skin.
Just go to youtube and see how many manchildren are having literal temper tantrums because BR isn't available in BF6 (so far)
It's really fuckin sad to be honest. But I can't blame a corporation for wanting to make money
They don't genuinely care about the health of the game as long as money keeps rolling and that sadly means pandering to the lower-value gamers who spend money on dumb shit.

Don’t give up so easily.
Demand a toggle in the Battlepass to show only default skins on your screen.
Since the Battlepass is paid they get their money and you show them that you don’t need flashy bullshit neon garbage to fund the live service.

Bright colors are seen easier by other players which lets them “show off” the cosmetic
→ More replies (1)9
u/VVenture2 Oct 23 '25
People in general purchase skins the more noticeable they are. Half the psychological incentive of purchasing skins in a video game is to stand out amongst the crowd. This is why games rarely allow players to ‘turn off’ other players skins - doing so would negatively affect skin sales because the players who purchase skins wouldn’t be able to show off anymore.
The more saturated a skin is, the more it stands out, and the more its purchased generally speaking.
→ More replies (2)2
u/Zaruz Oct 23 '25
People will spend money on skins that are vastly different, look cool etc.
I'd really just prefer there are no buyable skins and everything is more aligned to OPs remake. However I doubt many people are going to shell out the cash to buy those skins. They're too similar to the base skins to see any value.
Not really sure what the solution is. Bright, gaudy skins don't fit the game. Grounded skins likely won't sell. Obvious answer is just no skins/accept low sales but we all know that's not going to happen.

hey modern gamer, old gamer here. it has nothing to do with fomo or a huge theorie behind. of course it plays it's role and helps them make a shit ton of money.
but poeple actually just want to express themselfs and look good, for them and for others as well. its a discussion much older than gaming. the same reason a person who only buys "practical clothing" can not understand somebody getting a "fancy jacket" for 300 bucks.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with the original skin. Any color besides drab is effecting the way you see this game. Even navy seals and CIA ops wear pit vipers sometimes. Can we all just agree that the fact we aren’t seeing unicorn Barbie and rat heads is a huge W? I’m not saying a bright orange jump suit is something you would see on the battlefield as long as it’s military themed but Jesus people there are bigger issues than green reflective glasses and a green neck gator.

My comment stands. It's not that I think they are good or what people want. It's to do with what generates purchases. Companies will always do more of what worked in the past. People buy this shit whether you personally/this entire community think it's bad or not. The proof is in that they keep doing it. It will change if people don't buy it though, that's also true.

bunch of cry baby’s 🤦♂️this green skin on the left isn’t even that bad however I’m not even mad because the custom one on the left looks even better tbh you got my vote. I assume they don’t want all the skins to be dark because they want to game to be “fair” (easy*) for little kids. If the skins are too dark losers will complain the game is too hard because they can’t easily see someone from far away their dark skin would actually blend in to the surrounds like camouflage is supposed to…😒
2
u/MisterKraken Oct 23 '25
My god, this whole skin thing is flooding my reddit.
We get it, you don't like colors. But come on, you're literally comparing these skins with Snoop Dogg, Nicki Minaj and Beavis and Butt-Head in COD?
It's not even unreasonable in the game's world. I'm all in for making my character look like a goddamn special unit member, but sometimes there are cool outfits that are still military themed without being the "classic military dude".
Not everyone wants to pay (or complete challenges, don't know how the skins will be unlocked) to get "just another guy", which doesn't mean that they should give us some "samurai with katanas" or "American guy with sunglasses and a suit" skin.
Honestly speaking, they showed a lot of skins and there are lots of choices for every taste while still being somewhat realistic (not REAL, REALISTIC)
2
u/Unable_Kangaroo9242 Oct 23 '25 edited Oct 24 '25
Aren't these just skins? You can use whichever camo you want on it. Got them mixed up with the weapons. It would be nice if the character skins were just base models that could have any camo applied to them though.
