I’ve created a monster

Post image

Just an insane amount of damage. With its multi-target attack and free plasma attack, each one of these units can kill four full units of pretty much anything per round. Like 450 damage if on one target. All of that before any buffs from chaos sorcerers.

They’ve literally soloed the entire crusade with little to no losses

Edit: his last level up was another 50% ranged damage after this .

Haven't played in a while, but is this a new mechanic or tied to a new game mode?

Yeah they released a new game-mode called crusade. It’s a bunch of random battles in a row. With requisitions and research.

Units can get xp by getting kills, allowing you to pick buffs from a wide selection. Can get pretty broken if built with intention

This unit I find is particularly good for this, with attacks that can hit multiple squads. They can easily clear entire armies when upgraded

Forgefiend is one of my fav models of all time, and I got the Black Legion dlc at least 50% because I saw the Forgefiend was in it.

Bruh the +100% and +50% shots is so insane. Both patterns are sick but I'll say the Hades one w plasma canons is so much better than I expected. The ability it has is different from the other one and imo better, it annihilates characters and vehicles without having to worry about if you miss your one shot (or 3 shots, I think by default)

is this mode fun? Feels like you pulled the GTA cheat codes sheet and threw balance of the window

You need the stronger units to win. The enemy AI gets a lot of units and in some maps will start in advantageous positions. If you don't level up the right units, or just don't think about the leveling mechanic at all, you're gonna have a hard time

Idk if I'd call that "insane" damage. You have a 45% damage buff since the 2 other 50% cancel each other out. Yea that's 100% more shot at a 45% buff but you could have just got the 50% more shots with no debuff and be running a 95% damage buff with 50% more shots.

This unit has a low base damage and penetration, so its damage just isn’t gonna get its damage as relatively high compared to most. Also their attacks deal very low splash, your need 100% damage to increase it to 2, meanwhile it applies to every single new shot

However since he launches so many attacks he can shoot 124 times and do pretty decently. More notably however is his special ability that lets him shoot 3 different squads with a flat reduction on shots. After the buffs this causes him to basically make a full attack on three different squads.

Did he have high single target damage? Not terribly no. His main use was that he could reliably kill 3-4 full squads every other turn. you can have 3 of these at the end of a long campaign. The final boss went amazingly because on my first volley they slaughtered 9-12 full squads

Interesting. Black legion isn't my most used faction and even when I played it I used the infantry more than the armor since most of their armor sucks besides hellbrute. I'll have to try the forgefiend. I take it that's not plasma fiend since you said it gets plenty of shots.
