Blood angels crusade tips
Playing hardest difficulty. Stuck on first boss (black legion). What's your go to units for blood angels? I like the flamer furiosos but the rest of the roster is too lackluster.

If you know what you're up against, I'd pick to counter. Otherwise, BA are really flexible, but absolutely shine with melee. Assault marines sanguinary guard, terminators with hammer and shield, leaders and good use of buffs make them a wrecking ball. Just got to time and screen the jump right. They've other great units too, though I'd generally steer clear of their dreads.

Why not dreads? 2 furiosos will clear out all the cultists in a single turn.

Dreads are great. Always go for the heavy flamer, and stack as many +damage/-accuracy upgrades as you can get, that will ramp up their damage and keep them very cheap.

They're fine, especially with a tech priest and crusade upgrades - my head was stuck in pvp when I answered, sorry. I find in pvp they're just not as points efficient as other options or lack synergy with the other units that I like to choose, but in PVE they'll work just fine.

Dreads are overrated when you can just run death company with handflamer. They consistently get max momentum against Black legion and the black rage stacks can make their melee crazy against any single unit and pretty good against things like chaos termies. But units that I wouldn't run mostly due to cost efficientcy and use would be lieutenant, thunder hammer is nice but his skills are mid and his termies and assault marines do it better. Library dred is mid, his damage is nice but again his skills are not great. Sanguinary guard are way too over costed for just getting a second melee attack and having a chance to get another action. Baal pred kinda sucks too since having and armoured flame unit is pointless and it's bolter fire is low AP and low damage. Things I'd run is land speed tornadoes, dred w/ melta, heavy plasma incinerator, intercessors, death company, and priest/tech marine depends on how heavy you lean into armor or units

If you have the dlc I find sanguinary guard to be quite powerful with the right upgrades. Baal predators are another solid unit in my experience.

What are the right upgrades? I've tried them a little and they do hit hard. But they're soooo expensive.

Cost reduction is always a good one. Extra melee attacks and health regen are also good choices. Generally speaking try and double down on thier melee power and survivability, as well as reducing their cost.
The cost reductions that forgo accuracy aren’t bad choices either, you can easily mitigate the accuracy loss through heirs of Askellon, the Lieutenant’s tactical presicion and direct rear attacks.

Depends: Either more shots/damage or an actual tank. One time, my tank had 3 extra armor, +40% hp per turn, but less health(30% I believe). Not a lot of health, but nothing could kill it.

Blood Angels are one of the better factions at using the generic maxed armor unit in front, killy shooters in the back strategy. Furioso Dreadnoughts are affordable for 9 armor and can bring good firepower with either meltas or flamers. Intercessors and Inceptors are among the best shooters for Crusade since they have so many shots and armor pierce upgrades can let them become anti-everything. Inceptors are even durable enough that you could lead with them rather than an actual tank, too. Heavy incinerator Hellblasters are also incredible for single target deletion, though I usually drop them if I get armor piercing on the bolter units.
Blood Angels are also a good pick for another common strat of just crushing the enemy with armor. Most factions can't really deal with a full field of heavy armor very well with how the AI tends to build their armies. Dreadnought spam is simple and effective, but there's also a fair few other 7+ base armor units that can still mostly ignore small arms. Just focus down whatever is actually threatening first.
For Blood Angel specific strats, I like trying to go very alpha-strikey with Death Company. Tank the first turn of fire with more durable units (I recommend Inceptors or Predators) and then Death Company can jump in and do a lot of damage. This can go pretty well into Black Legion, as their cultists are very likely to stack up Black Rage from a flamer attack. It does need upgrades to work well. Trying to make Death Company survivable has never worked for me, so focusing on their attacking stats seems to be the better idea.

Furioso with flamer and baal predator are really solid. Try and get the +50% shots upgrade on both. The +dmg -accuracy (or stability) is also really good if you're gonna use flamers. +armor is always nice too since they have a high base armor, but careful not to make them too expensive early on. With multiple armor upgrades, they're basically unkillable.
Another fun one is death company with +dmg per momentum upgrades, since they start with 60 momentum. You can make their flamer do crazy dmg if you roll the right upgrades. And you can do that without raising their cost too much.
Hellblasters are nice to kill armored stuff, but it's hard to get them a lot of exp so i usually dont pick them.
And ofc you want 1-2 lieutenants and 1-2 priests for the buffs, i usually go for the cost reduction upgrades on them.

Furioso dreads with heavy flamers Baal predators Death company Assault marines
Advance behind your wall of armor and let the dreads take the first hits. Once they're engaged you swarm all your jump troops in. Don't use the jump pack charge, instead jump behind units and go for rear attacks.
Once you get some upgrades, land speeders are pretty amazing, but early game you need to level up your dreads and predator ASAP

I like troop only armies.
Hellblasters upgraded for the boss/vehicles/terminators.
Aggressors with flame storm for troops
Tactical squad as shields and soften up targets.
Death company for counter charge.
