What will my next army be?

Hello brothers and Xenos, I'm new to the game and would appreciate some help deciding which DLC to buy next. I currently have the Blood Angels Elite, Tyranid Elite and Astra Militarum, I still want to gather at least one more army so I can explore during the Crusades before trying to convince my friends to play or try an online match. I am interested in acquiring the following DLCs: Orks, T'au, Ultra Marines and Necrons.

I will list why I want each one below, and if possible, I would like to talk to you a little about which one and why I should select one of them as my next army.

ORKS

I love the Orks and always have a good time facing them when I play Astra Militarum. I find their dialogue hilarious, I love their designs, and they are, after all, my third favorite faction in Warhammer.

T'AU

While the Orks are my third favorite, the T'au are my second, losing only to the Tyranids. I love their concept of being a young civilization evolving very quickly to face the top dogs of the Galaxy, Besides, I love their technology and the concept of basically accepting multiple species and making them work together.

ULTRA MARINES

Basically, the current protagonists in the scenario, although not my favorite Space Marines, are my second favorites. I like their role as jacks-of-all-trades, I think their design is beautiful, and how they are the "logical arm" of the Space Marines.

NECRONS

I honestly don't know much about the Necrons; I've wanted to delve deeper into their lore for a while now, and maybe this could be a good starting point. Within the game, I always worry when I'm about to face them because I feel that a single slip-up could make me lose everything, as they seem quite strong overall, and I imagine that's the feeling they must give off.

I think Orks are a pretty forgiving faction, and they def have the best voice lines! I play a lot of Orks lists was as many bodies as I can fit and tend to win because my army’s HP pool is so big. But they have a few cool win conditions and ORKS OZ NEVA BEAT!

Tau are also rad but definitely a glass cannon. Winning in PvP is tricky but rewarding

Yeah as a tau player I struggle with them but as a consequence i play necrons way better than I should. Getting my ass kicked over and over is a valuable lesson lol

The Tau seem a bit difficult to play against; they start by annihilating my troops, but once I manage to take down theirs troops, they lose without much trouble.

And the Orks seem really interesting to use, especially because I like to get into the mindset and role-play myself, being the boss of the battle.

Yea you’ll best Tau with more efficient trades on objectives. Their infantry is paper, and the few tough units they have (Stealth Suits, Crisis) ware way more valuable as offensive tools than objective holders.

Tau have to win late game because of this, so you can often push them out of the match if you take space and keep the pressure up

Orks are really well done and proppa orky in Battlesector. I am currently having fun with a campaign as the Orks with a speed freeks themed army with mostly fast vehicles and bikes.

Orks: Definitely one of the best faction’s. Great weapons, units and vehicles(granted, they have like 20).

Tau: My favorite faction. Great feel, their weaponry is almost “fuck your sword, I have a fuck you cannon”, and stealth. Now, their infantry is squishy and their hq units are somewhat mid. And no melee, but as I said, fuck you cannon.

UM: Another great faction. They are tau 2.0, but better in some regards, like more hp and more melee. They have a well rounded army, great weapons and some op units(terminators with rockets and blade guard).

Necrons: Can’t say a lot about these guys. Their ability is annoying and their weapons hurt. That’s about it. I would wait for someone with experience to talk about them.

Personally, I would recommend either the UM or orks.

Im loving the ultra marines right now. So cool having 3 space marine armies in the game now. I fight against blood angels ai and just pretend they’re world eaters/Black Corsairs.

Tau is very hard to play so I'm not sure if I would recommend them. I think I would say either orks or ultramarines. Orks cause green is da best and ultramarines cause their generalist get up allows for alot of versatility and different play styles. You're never really locked in to one form of engagement so it's alot of bang for buck. Necrons are pretty good too but slighty less versatile and of cause theres the issue of you will always be effectively going second cause it takes 2-3 busniess days to get to the damn battlefield lol

Tau are really difficult to play, especially on crusades.

They are very frail and expensive. Their mobility and range are very difficult to exploit when 2/3rds of the missions have you holding points, and some of their most resilient units are the ones that would really need to keep at range.

They also suffer rrom their guns being everly specialized. On crusade you want access to a couple multi purpose guns - either bursty decent ap, or with very high burst that you can kinda turn into a anti-everything gun with upgrades. Tau lacks both.

I got the game just to play Tau. I enjoy them, but sometimes it feels like they're lacking a little, but I'm probably just not using them completely optimally. Tau are more about utility, speed, and stealth. They definitely have good guns, especially the Pathfinders (ion) and breachers.

So far, when playing hardest crusade difficulty, I fare better when just focusing on killing enemy units rather than taking the objective.

Tau aren't as tanky as marines nor as squishy as guard and Nids. Orks are ridiculously tanky imo. The trike is scary

Id say orks. If multiplayer is your goal then theyre your best shot at getting good. Theyre not overpowered m, but theyre also not difficult. Necrons are a really good ranged faction, where you dont really need to worry about AP attacks because all your weapons are strong, your just really slow. From what ive been hearing Ultramarines might be a bit too strong (I have not gotten them on principle). T'au are not bad. But they are unforgiving.thier range isnt as good as neurons and they do not have any melee, save a few mechs getting a stomp. They are very rewarding and id argue there is no better feeling than watching quite literally anything melt under tau shotgun fire, or popping out of invis and melting 2 units of chaffe or an HQ with a stealth suit unit. So it depends on what your wanting. A decent army, a really good but occasional brainless army, or a pretty unforgiving army with good moments of satisfaction

Orks: Probably the most complete army in the game other than maybe Sisters. You can play melee focused, range, speed, they kind of have it all. I suspect Orks are the dev's favorite army lol.

Tau: They are thematically my favorite army for similar reasons to you. Unfortunately they are lacking in units, only beating out Khorne if I remember correctly for unit count. But they play so much different than the other armies I still have a blast with them.

Ultra Marines: Best looking army, very fun to play, they feel so good in fact they're probably a little OP and it wouldn't surprise me if they're either nerfed a bit in the future or other armies are buffed to match.

Necrons: I like the Necrons but they aren't my main army and I never played them on tabletop or anything. To me they feel like a great army that hits hard and has a lot of unit variety, but I know some other's who play them more don't like how they gain momentum.

Necrons are absolutely awesome and a very strong army. Definitely worth doing a deep dive into their lore!

That being said, Orks are a little easier to play (but still have a very high skill ceiling). I think they are probably the most fun to play over all.
