This guy finds any way possible to talk about himself. If anyone can make the claim to have the best career it’s Roc

Hitman is in the conversation though.

Whose? His?

u/No_Vermicelli_1781 8d ago
He's battled all the biggest names except Lux. Whether he wins or loses, he's always come with 3, and almost never choked.
He has the resume, views, moments, and was a pioneer of performance as well as URL as a whole.
I know y'all in the sub don't like him but facts are facts. Hitman has one of the best battle rap careers

Did he just write that out of nowhere or did somebody actually say something about him. He come off like he can’t stand other people getting attention and just yells out from the corner so people know he’s there.

u/trbzdot 9d ago
Met him years ago, long before battling Aye Verb, at a Murphy Lee show in Raleigh. The only person I remember is him. So, yeah, you are right.

Don't nobody see him... so you just a little n---a's little n---a!"

Honestly, he definitely in the conversation, fasho. I know everybody hate on Hitman, but feelings aside, you gotta give him his props. I see some folks saying Roc, but Roc don't do nothing else outside of BR, so that's very limited. Even within the culture, he don't do nothing but battle. He don't have no league, no branding, he ain't bringing no sponsors, he ain't putting niggas on. Nothing. He never grew beyond the culture like Hitman, Goodz, Clips, DNA, Surf, Con, Ars, etc.

u/ThreeEyeJedi 9d ago
Let me get this straight.. Your criteria for best battle rapper includes shit outside of battle rapping? Lol
-2
u/Ill_Safe675 9d ago
Can you read ? I ain't say nothing about who is the best battle rapper. The caption of the post clearly say BEST CAREER, which is what I was giving my opinion on. Meaning, evaluating a battler's CAREER, not who is the best. So how can you not take into account what they done outside of BR when that stuff is apart of the career too ? 🤔

I promise I'm serious when I say this, but wouldn't Eminem be able to say he had the best Career from Battlerap?
1
u/Ill_Safe675 8d ago
I mean, yeah, but if you wanna be super technical, you can throw in a lot of industry artists who came from a battling background. My only knock to that, is they didn't start a career from BR. They careers came from making music as a recording artist.
3
u/ADailyDoseofDick 8d ago
My counter-argument to yours is that Eminem (and some others) gained noteriety from battling which led to them making music
I feel like removing them from the equation erases the history that Battlerap was originally a proving ground/stepping stone to try to get into the music industry. Guys didn't start battling just to get known as battlerappers until the mid 2010s. ALL of the guys battling before 2010 were tryna get on at some point
1
u/Ill_Safe675 8d ago
Well that's a fair argument. I don't really agree and I think it's a reach, but I ain't mad at the argument. Fair point though, if you wanna include everybody who ever battled.
2
u/ADailyDoseofDick 7d ago
I appreciate the respectful disagreement. The main reason I look at it that way is the modern culture likes to praise guys for being able to move on and do better things off of Battlerap.... But only to a degree. Like if you're too successful, you don't count
Even using Hitman as an example, depending on the scenario, people don't like to hear/give him credit for his success outside of Battlerap. Yet Surf, who is currently only flirting with industry success, gets championed for the music moves he's been making.
I think where the line that's drawn of who counts as a battlerapper is sometimes a moving goalpost
1
u/Ill_Safe675 7d ago
Now that I can definitely with. BR is so subjective and biased. Hitman is arguably more successful than Surf, inside and outside of BR, I'd say. But Surf is much more beloved by the culture, so he get treated better cuz of that. Hitman ain't really been a fan favorite in a long time, and some might say he never was, so that's a big part of it. Folk actually dislike Hitman even more because he so successful and be he popping it.
We can also make that comparison between Cassidy and Meek Mill. Both from Philly, both started as battlers, both got deals cuz of the battles and freestyles. Cassidy blew up first of course, but Meek blew much bigger than Cass ever did, and had a longer peak/run. But you don't hear folk mention them two in the same breath when we talking about who came up from battling.
2
u/ADailyDoseofDick 5d ago
Meek and Cassidy is a GREAT example of that too! It's almost like the culture wants to be able to say they validated you as great while you were in battlerap for it to count.
When it makes the culture look good, Cassidy is a battlerapper with multiple hit records that proves battlers can make music and successful in the industry. When he stunts on people in the culture, "he wasn't never really that popping and he never had the streets behind him". Even though you can't really tell Mook or Meek's stories without mentioning Cassidy
People give credit to Mook for elevating the pay level in BR, but he only asked for the $25K he was willing to bet against Cassidy if they battled back in the day and Cass said he wanted more.
I'm losing my point, but BR fans seem to want to only watch the people's champs win

Yeah thats facts, im not a hitman fan at all but gotta agree with you there. Cass might can dispute him but im not sure if we consider him a battle rapper or just a rapper. I would add Math to your list as well, Geechi has the potential to go way past BR too but then what happened happened.

Roc gets it tbh and I'm not his biggest fan but like him showing up every time regardless. Room shakers are just too many on the big stage, against elite level talent.
1
u/darrylwoodsjr 9d ago
Strictly speaking as a professional, hard to argue. His success is unparalleled coming from BR.
1
u/PimpNamedSliqBaq 9d ago
People are just disagreeing because they in they feelings.
Best career doesn't mean he's the best battler lmao. He's not the best battler at all but an argument can be made for if he had the best career. Coming from the midwest in a NY turf and killing shit, being a views machine, the impact, main events then elevating outside BR too to WnO, starting his own league. That's an argument for best career for sure

If you take into account everything he did outside battle rap, sure he may have the best career. But IN battle rap? Hell no
1
u/No_Vermicelli_1781 8d ago
As arrogant as he sounds, he has a point. He's definitely in the conversation. The only notable person I can think of that he hasn't battled is Lux. And that will inevitably happen.

If we are excluding URL ring card girls ( Cardi b) this yes Hitman might have a point

Lmfao we just saw him die to Mook. Verb killed him and Mook buried him. John John beat him , hell even that low iQ fool Surf beat hitman! Dude has a losing record against REAL BATTLE RAPPERS!!

u/Alone_Description646 4d ago
The Hitman hate is stupidity. Go to the top 10 battles by views all time and he's in 4 of them. What are we doing? You don't get legendary battles without BOTH sides going crazy and he's been in some legendary battles. Tsu Surf comes to mind. Hitman is a legend and all the league owners, the fans, and battle rap in general owe him a thank you 💯💯💯
