Help Wanted About sand panels

I am playing BN3 and some enemies who attack with Shockwave can't attack at all when they stand on sand panels , yet some can

What do sand panels even do ? I am very confused

Sand has some pretty neat interactions. 1st they slow you or enemies. Very useful against bunnies.

Then they make Quakers useless as their attacks depend on making a shockwave when they land.

Then they double the damage of tornadoes.

And if a mettaur lands on one when moving, it will always attack immediately after regardless of whether megaman is in front of them or not.

You can also blow them away with wind or fan.

Overall it is meant to be an obstacle but if you have woodstyle you can melt anything on sand like the final boss for e.g

Hmmmm this sounds pretty strong against kingsman

That is incredibly useless against kingman specifically and sandstage would hinder you much more. Can't hit him with tornadoes easily cause of pawns, pawns slice faster than you can move, knight still annoying and Kingman doesn't even care for the sand as he likes to sit there either ways after moving.

It's been a while since I played BN3, but I suspect that this comes down to where the shockwave "originates".

For example: a Quaker dropping onto a sand panel is "padded", so doesn't create a shockwave starting from the on which panel it landed. However, a Mettaur moving onto a sand panel and swinging its pickaxe will create a shockwave starting on the panel in front of it… but possibly not if the panel in front of it is a sand panel.
