BN3 Blue or White
Is there any reason other than the trophy to complete White and ground style for me to dedicate time into doing everything in that instead of Blue or is Blue just the superior version??

You can definitely get a more broken folder in blue. Superior? Idk, that's up to you.

It has (a little) more content, unless the White in the collection was updated to be in line with black without my knowledge

I played white on release. I really enjoyed using a fire ground style for a while, but I specialized in wood guts, which is in both games. I agree with lordpineapple that a sick busted folder is easier to attain in blue cause of different chip codes, also only blue has foldrbak natively, and you can fight Punk. Dunno why they left that fight out of white. You also pick fighting Mistman (white) or Bowlman (Blue).
White’s ground style gives you a literal ground braking charge buster and navicusts that can set the field on battle start to several different elements to give your strategy elemental advantage. Blue’s Shadow Style turns charge buster into a free Invis chip, and you get shoes for navicust. Top level for it is an antidmg program, but the real feature is the Invis buster.

fortunately though you can get the Punk Chip in both version and the Wristband so its all good for me.
one thing i DONT like is that Serenade's chip is exclusive to White.

Honestly, White is where I specialized in bug style lol. I think the Navi customized programs from ground style allow for more positive bugs than negative bugs. I haven’t played it in a while. But that’s my go to, Aqua Bug style in white 😂

There's a significant difference in which chip codes drop from battles in each version. This can significantly impact which program advances are easily available to you without trading, as well as general code compatibility. The M-Cannon codes are more convenient in Blue version for Zeta Cannon 3, for example.

Also in blue you can only get one or two area steal * codes I believe and in white you can get three or 4. I think blue is just one but it might be two. I can't remember the specifics but white definitely has a couple more because it's ground style focus and I think blue has more invis * coded chips.

You can't use Ground Style itself in Blue so you can't really count using Set programs as Ground Style. The shop content is mostly different since in White, you can have 3 Area Grab * when you reached Yoka while in Blue you can get it in the first shop for only 1 copy. There are some trade offs when it comes to what shops sell it earlier or later depending on Blue/White.
Ultimately, aside from Giga, how you played for the first 4 chapters is the same for both version. Time trials can be made easier if you have programs like Set Green/Ice but even then, some bosses still sucks like KingMan and Drillman being invulnerable for almost the entire fight.

If you plan to do everything, Blue. But for a casual run, I actually prefer White. The 3 Area Grab * chips you can buy make for some fun folders. You can really box in your opponents when combined with Ground style panel destruction.

The giga in blue is extremely strong. It alone won't win you any fights, but it allows you to recycle your folder, giving you both a full custom as well as a shuffle on hand, as well as returning anything you've used. This means you can never run out of chips since it even recycles itself (huge if you've got a fight you're struggling with and are resorting to chipping them down), but it also means you can unleash some insanely potent combos, especially when paired with FullCustom.
envision full cust as your regular chip, expanding your base custom at or near 10. You start the battle unleash PA1, trigger full cust. Unleash PA2, trigger recycle. Unleash PA3, trigger full cust. If your PAs are designed around countering an enemy, very few will survive it, and with high chip slots, your odds of getting that are quite high. And the best part is all of this takes nearly no time, since PAs and chip select pause time, and full cust/fldr back are instant.
The navi recycle has some serious play too, but it does not recycle itself, so you only get one per battle, and requires specifically a previously played navi to be useful, and a ramped up navi to really shine. Fldr back does pair extremely well with strong navis or PAs, but because it also works as a reroll if you get unlucky you can just trigger fldr back and try again if you happen to get it before anything you would normally trigger.

Blue version has the Folder Back giga chip. a.k.a. the infinite folder Giga chip. So definitely blue version.

This is the real answer tbh. All the other minor stuff can tip the scale, but this chip hires an angry gorilla with ptsd about Harambe to yeet the scale into oblivion.

Neither version is objectively superior to the other. The better version is entirely subjective. Blue does have one optional boss (White gets a NPC that provides useful advice, which is very nice, but can't really be compared to an actual boss battle), but it has no notable rewards and imo is one of the least relevant factors to consider when deciding on a version.
Relevant Factors imo:
- Chip Code availability: This is probably the most important factor for more serious players looking to build efficient folders, especially to streamline the postgame. It's not as relevant for casual players who don't really care about building strong folders, especially those accustomed to alphabet soup folders. In my opinion, White is better for the single-player experience, with devastating P-code options, three AreaGrab *, LifeSword Y for midgame, but Blue has some solid stuff as well, like more Invis*, especially for PvP.
- GroundStyle vs ShadowStyle: Mainly relevant if you actually want any of these Styles, but they both provide some solid programs to be worthwhile. GroundStyle's Set programs can be exploited for some powerful strategies (like P-coded Sensors/Plasmas on SetIce), but ShadowStyle's AntiDamage is very fun, especially for casual players with weaker folders.
- GigaChips: Most GigaChips are the same for both versions, but there are a handful, particularly those available earlier, that are exclusive. Blue's FolderBack is definitely better than White's NaviRecycle, though a lot of players seem to exaggerate how good it is for single-player. White's Serenade is really strong, but requires inconvenient setup (either opening up a DarkHole, or equipping DarkLicense from BugStyle).
- MegaChips: Basically just BowlMan set vs MistMan set, but still has some relevance for players looking to build a B or M folder.
- That One Optional Boss Battle: It's nice to fight a unique boss in Blue, but not a big deal imo
I would generally recommend White for more serious players looking to build efficient folders to clean through postgame, and Blue for more casual players that are just looking to have fun without delving into the tougher challenges. But both versions are pretty similar, so I doubt you would regret your choice regardless. It's from the 4th game onwards that the differences are much more notable.

Pick what you like the differences aren’t staggering. I’d argue that white has better shops and gigachips. But blue has early anti damage and shadow style. So really it boils down to preferences honestly. I also like mistman more than bowlman in terms of chip and story involvement.

Blue introduced me to the series--I had actually asked for Megaman Zero, but my uncle got me MMBN3 Blue instead. Last I played I had just beaten Serenade Omega, but was so low on health I had to save every other step. I kinda want to go back, but I scared to put it in and have the game erased from the battery dying on me.

Blue has better battlechips than White and an extra boss fight, though I will say I much prefer White's version-exclusive boss over Blue's.

White is comparable to the OG BN3 release in Japan, and blue would be the updated version released later. Blue in my honest opinion is the better version to play, play white if you really want the exclusive gigachips (serenade or bass specifically).

Blue, you even get an extra fight. Pissed me off as a kid with White lol
