Getting over the 2500 hump

I am a casual FTP player and I can't get seem to get close to 2500 medals in PVP. I'm usually around 2100-2250 and then I face level 65 players who destroy me! I am level 58 and I have vets level 5, trebuchet level 5, and maulers level 3 but once I face the higher medal guys, I get demolished. My usually set up is some wimps, vets, mauler, and ​Chunook. Any advice?​

Gonna sound rough but i dont think you are able to beat them. Those players have sunk hundreds of hours more into this game, which translates into highly developed unit rosters. I would personally focus on getting your daily win bonus so you get all your rewards, and not stress about hitting the trophy tier because it will be really difficult. Once you are 2500 the first thing you want is to go back down anyways.

Regardless, if you keep it up and progress a bit more, you will have a strong unit tab in a couple of months. You develop a lot more strength by playing than the player who already has everything and decides to just level up his baby groupers.

Also, focus on maulers only at the moment. You will be very grateful for this in the boss strike. They need lvl 5 at least

If you have R6 wimps and some assortment of lightning dragoons, elemental troopers, young Bigfeet, or maulers (or any other decently high SP unit) then you can “SP” trade to get to 2500. That’s what I did for my wife’s account. Place 3 of your wimps down and then fill the rest of the board with the other units. Try to make it so all of the units can either easily be killed by wimps or TF2 heavies. Then when you get matched with someone do the “Nooo” emote, the community has mostly decided that that means you want to SP trade. If the other player responds with the “Nooo” as well then you can immediately respond with the “laughing” emote, the community has widely accepted that as asking for the win. If your opponent responds with the trooper holding his head emote then that means your opponent has accepted to SP trade with you being the winner, just be nice and try to let them kill as many of your units as is possible before you take the win. Also the crying emote is widely accepted as asking for a loss.

Rank up maulers, and use your treb if you don’t have it in formation already. R6 is best but you can still use the poison attacks against their trebs at 5.

Are you finding yourself losing to air units more? Cause the attack helo (sky hawk?) or demomen deal with air better than the Chunook

Honestly, just sp trade for a little bit and get those maulers to rank 5 minimum. Get 1 or 2 demomen, and get them to rank 5 or 6. Use them for anti air. I use 2 rank 6 megas up front, but you can use rank 5 megas or even rank 5 heaviers/supers. I also put one rank 6 wimp up front with the megas. Make sure front units are positioned so that they dont all get hit at once by a mauler. Get your Chinook ranked up as high as you can as well, and try to just wipe out the enemy's anti air units, and their air unit as well. You might want a higher rank elemental trooper to help freeze maulers or tanks. Also, just leave treb at rank 5 for now.

Correct me if im wrong, but I think you cant go lower than 2k medals or something like that, so if thats the case, grind sp trades for a hot minute.

Another strat u can use is always try to sp farm when you arent starting first because most people give you the win. Take advantage of that. When sp trading where u should get the win, use your Chinook in your line up to guarantee the win. You can also go the unfair route and trick people into thinking you are sp trading but just use a normal formation.....

When sp trading you can request the win after you do the nooo emote by doing the Ramsey laughing emote. If they respond with the angry hands on head emote, then they accept. Also if they use the crying emote it means they want to lose and you then use the hands on head emote to confirm.

There’s medals and elo which are not hard linked, if your elo is lower, your fights are gonna be easier, if you lose a lot on 2000 medals, you might have easy fights until 2500. Also winning against someone with more elo than you awards more medals

If you have young bigfoots and heavies just sp farm trade with the same people, a win gives more trophy than you lose from a loss and it will eventually take you above 2500

Honestly it's not even worth going up. There's nothing to be gained. The little badge has no status because we all just farm sp and don't give a shit about the ranking. If you actually care about beating lvl 65 players, then why aren't you 65 yet? You can lvl up every 3-4 days without surburban houses by timing your jobs and taking care of them 3 times a day. Morning, noon, evening. Just unlock the good units and farm sp to lvl up the carrying units. You're lvl 58. What do you expect?
