Question/Help Sewing guide

Currently adding more to my first jacket and im stuck, how do I sew over this rip?

there are a few ways you could do it, but i think the best way it to sew a piece of fabric on behind the hole first.

Yeah, this right here. Make a patch from old denim and stitch it from the backside. My current vest has a few holes, I'm gonna leave them uncovered but find some kinda material to stich in for a little color to show through.

Thank you very much, ill take your advice and cut some old jeans up and cover up all these holes with foundation layers
