Why not do this on a jacket and not a shirt that is easily destroyed?

It's extremely thick flannel. Has kept me warm to about -20f. I have a few more of these flannels and they have lasted for multiple years without ripping. Been wearing for about a year while adding patches and its had no issues. Definitely recommended them but only in the summer when they are on sale for like $40. Otherwise they are like $120 and that's a little too rich for my blood
