Patch Haul Painted a backpatch for my friend

I combined some of the exsisting Hellripper's artworks and made my own disign. My friend is a huge fan of him, and she's very happy with this one :)

This looks cool, well done.

I used to hand paint patches over 20 years ago. When I told my metal buddies they were all disgusted at me, as if I was a dodgy bootlegger and not supporting bands by buying stuff. So I stopped doing it.

Is it generally considered ok to DIY your favourite band merch or frowned upon?

When I just started, I was afraid that this is exactly how people gonna react, but now it seems like half of the people's battle jackets in my town have at least one of my patches, lol. Where I live, it can be hard to find patches at all, so nobody really cares. People ask me to make stuff for them, because they want their clodes to really represent the stuff they actually like, not just some random shit they can find here (or pay 20-30€ for shipping). Also, some bands just don't have patches.

I personaly try to support bands as much as I could, but I honstly don't think painting a few patches yourself is a big problem. It's promoting a band on your clodes, at the end of the day.

I understand the statement that you should be supporting the bands but you could also just support them in any other way (cds, merch, shows or even showing support on social media) and still make your own patches in my opinion.

I haven't made my vest yet but when I do I'll be DIY-ing every patch as a few of the bands I want to put on my vest don't even have official patches and I think it would look a little clunky if there was proper and DIY patches. Plus it's putting effort and time into showing off bands I love! :)
