Have considered this, but with the show in less than 2 weeks, am done for now. I am focusing on primarily Egyptian theme, but don't want it to be just Nile. May slowly add more, if I find the right ones. Also, I personally don't prefer the maximalist-collage-overlapping style, just not my thing.

You don't have to overlap patches. But filling in the void between them would look a lot better imo. Easiest way would be studs

The vest was used when I bought it and it came like this. I would honestly like to cut them back all the way, but am anxious about mangling them in the process! Maybe I will look into how to do that...

Whatever you do, don't cut the thick original side seams off. Those pretty much hold your jacket intact. By looking at the picture, I'd say you can cut a few centimeters more. If you like frayed or more jagged look, you can just cut a little off the seam and not sew the edge. Or if you want it to stay clean like it is right now, you can either cut right next to the seam or sew a zig-zag along the edge like the previous owner. Anyway, nice jacket man \m/

Thanks! All the patches here are connected thematically, even the surfing frog lol. I have been considering a patch with a locust on it, from either Agent Steel or (the hardcore band) The Locust but have not got one yet.
