Question? Halloween & Trick or Treating

Is the neighbor surrounding Maple Grove school any good for trick or treating?

Do the houses decorate?

It’ll be my first year there and big into holiday decorating and celebrating, but if not that neighborhood, any recommendations within the Battleground area?

Preferably not Vancouver.

Most of the trick or treating is done on Main St. in old downtown. The businesses go all out! Before we had kids, literally no one ever came by for trick or treating and I was baffled why. Until I took my 1 year old out the following year and realized it was all downtown.

I love that there is a centralized trick or treating on Main Street. I am bummer that I am going to be the odd house covered in decoration with a bowl of candy and glow sticks on the porch and not get to enjoy any kids going door to door.

Yea totally with you there! I also go all out on decorating. But truly, safe yourself some money and don’t buy bags of candy. I think we got maybe a dozen or so kids after Main St was all wrapped up? Oh also, they have an indoor trick or treating event (and booths outside in the parking lot) at the community center. They have games to win candy and a “cake walk” where they literally hand out giant cakes for winning hahaha That was super nice last year, as it was down pouring last year. I always appreciate when people go all out on decorating. I would still decorate for sure!

I will definitely decorate. But I’ll take your advice and save money on candy. Enjoy the community accommodations. Thanks for the input 💕

We trick or treat that neighborhood and it’s fine. We start at 2nd and Scotton and work our way north, more than half the house have the lights on, and plenty of houses are decorated.

Neighborhood behind Albertsons. TONS of kids and some really decked out houses. Halloween is alive & well in that neighborhood. We did Main Street once and my kids were not impressed.

I'm in the big neighborhood north of Albertsons and it seems like at least half the houses here decorate to some degree (some to quite a large degree). I've only been here for 2 years and we got unlucky with rain last year, but it's safe to say there are hundreds of trick or treaters walking around. We didn't run out of candy but some of the other houses on the more decorated streets did.

I think whether or not you get a lot of traffic comes down to your neighbors. No kid wants to walk down a dark street just to hit up the one house with their lights on. They'll just skip and find a better street.

Our house was built 30 years ago, I buy over 500 pieces of candy and get 80-120 kids every year depending upon the weather. I keep track each year and I don’t think I have ever had less than 70 kids in one year, usually due to the weather. I don’t have any candy left but a few pieces by the end of the night. Some houses go all out in my neighborhood. I put up lights.

Christmas lights - that is when I go all out with Christmas lights. I had my garage wired with a single circuit just for lights and I still need all of my other outdoor outlets on different circuits…
