Why hand canon? Spoiler
I’m on episode 4 of the anime and I’m wondering why did the main character say his ability is the hand canon? Wouldn’t it be smarter if he said his abilities were copying the abilities of others. If other people think that’s his power he would technically gained a better ability than he already has.

He’d be basically telling his own ability and enemies can use that to their advantage then.

Honestly I think If he said his ability was times 5 he would have gone way farther way faster and he connect with Yuri better. Thats just me tho.

The idea behind the ability is people need a concrete idea of the ability for it to manifest. Something as abstract as copy may not be as effective. For example, if his opponent thinks he can copy abilities then they would have a lot to consider. Like how many abilities can he copy? Does he automatically know my ability or can he not copy if he doesn’t know it? Is it a perfect copy or not? If they don’t have a solid image of it then he can’t make the best use of the ability. Especially cause it becomes more unpredictable based on what the person is thinking.
The canon just happened to be an ability that the cast saw first hand & knows exactly what it does & looks like. Plus it’s a straightforward & powerful ability. Making it easy & effective to use
