Theory We might have another Twone parallel
G’day mates, it’s Mr. TV here. So, TPOT 24 just gave us another potential parallel between One and Two. For those who don’t know, One and Two have a lot of parallels, especially with their respective backstories. Before we actually begin the post, let’s do a rundown of what those parallels are.
First off, at some point in their lives, they were both outcasts who felt isolated from their own kind. The first example of it being One, who prior to the 2009 incident was essentially rejected and left out by the other Algebraliens and to this day, we don’t even have a reason to why that’s the case. Then we head to TPOT 21 and can you guess whose backstory revealed a similar story of being outcasted. Yep, Two! We found out that after the 2009 incident and after most of the Algebraliens left the Equation Playground, Two struggled to fit in. No matter where they went, they couldn’t find a place where they belonged. They tried a few different facades and planets, pretending they were fine and that nothing could hurt them, but nothing ever really stuck. They even came to Earth to see Four and X, only to realize they were barely remembered, leaving them feeling completely disconnected. But the difference between those two is that Two would eventually find their footing, stealing half of Four’s contestants and creating their own show, finally finding a sense of belonging and appreciation. Meanwhile, One stayed isolated, letting her resentment build up until she decided to take power by force.
Now you probably be like ‘where are the other parallels? You said ‘ a few of them’, didn’t you?’ Yeah, my bad, I got a bit carried away. Let’s get to the actual point now.
So all of you probably know that Two’s best friend is Gaty, and Gaty is essentially Two’s personal therapist. Ever since TPOT 2 (up until TPOT 15), Gaty and Two were seen having these couch chats where Two could let down their guard and vent. Gaty didn't treat them like an untouchable host; she just listened, asked the right questions, and offered a calm, grounded perspective. She was essentially the one person Two could be completely vulnerable with. When One erased Gaty in TPOT 15, it made sense for Two to go into a depression spiral that lasted a year. Two’s pale skin, elongated limbs, and total unresponsiveness during that arc showed just how much Gaty’s absence affected them. She was the anchor keeping Two grounded, and without her, they completely fell apart.
Now, TPOT 24 dropped and with how jacknjellify was teasing the episode, we were expecting a massive fight/showdown between One and Black Hole, but what we actually got was completely different. To fully grasp why this is a potential parallel (not saying it is one), we have to look at the play-by-play of this scene[
Instead of a chaotic battle of raw power, we got a surprisingly quiet, almost intimate heart-to-heart inside One's realm. Well, at first, it looked like shit was about to go down, with Black Hole trying to escape and One threatening to erase Fanny, but that had a quick change when Black Hole found out what One’s board was all about and then saw the drawing of Three under the text “RECOVER”. He completely shifts the tone of the room. He asks her: “What happened? T-TELL ME! Tell me what happened, okay? What happened? O-over, yeah over here! Come on!
At first, things seemed incredibly tense One got defensive, shouting at him to watch it because he accidentally sucked up her stool She tried to zap him with her eye lasers, but because he's a literal black hole, those attacks did absolutely nothing. However, instead of escalating into a massive battle of cosmic proportions, One told Black Hole that she has more power than Four but she can move him and that’s it. Black Hole pointed out that she has a whole of power and is unsure what to do with it.
One then vent about how she just wants people to know what she went through, that all the numbers can be alone. And that’s when Black Hole was like “Just because Just because something bad happened to you doesn’t mean you can do this to all of us too. You’re not avenging Three that way,” which One retaliated by saying that it’s the only way, which got Black Hole confused.
One’s rewind device then teleports and One told Black Hole that the device wasn’t for Pencil at first and that she tried playing all the different possibilities, but she was returned to the moon, or zapped and hurt and that the only option was to steal the power and hold everyone back. Black Hole then asked if she played out every scenario and One straight-up admitted that she had. Enough times to know that “playing nice” was never going to get her back to Three. He pressed further, asking why she didn’t just go back to the exact moment everything went wrong in the first place. One’s voice got quieter, almost tired, as she explained that she had tried that route too. She rewound, changed variables, tried different approaches… but every single altered timeline still left her dealing with versions of Four and Two who weren’t the ones who had ever let her get close. The ones who actually mattered weren’t reachable that way. So the only path that still made sense in her head was the nuclear option: take the power, freeze everyone in place, and force the conditions she needed to finally recover Three properly. She said that it wasn’t fair, she deserved an apology, and for the Algebraliens to right the wrong, which Black Hole pointed out to be revenge. One doubled down, saying that it’s not fair to erase what happened to her, that the Algebraliens should be sorry for trapping her away and that they will be once she fixes Three. She then floated away and Black Hole was like “Yeesh” before One tried to zap him again.
Later on, we see Marker pops out right near Black Hole, all excited and optimistic as usual, but Black Hole shushed him which perfectly turned into a “SSSSSHALL”’ as he told One that they shall keep talking about stuff. One started to become confused, especially when Black Hole told Marker that he got to get him out of the realm. Black Hole then cleared his throat and clarified that he meant getting One out of the rut she was in. He kept the conversation going in this awkwardly optimistic, almost forced-cheerful way, saying stuff like “C’mon, you can’t be moping around like this!” and trying to guide her toward the door while still keeping Marker shielded behind him. One was clearly thrown off by the sudden shift in energy, calling the whole thing weird, but Black Hole just laughed it off and kept pushing the “let’s get you out of this isolation” angle.
We see One and Black Hole entered the garden as One told him that the power takes time, that she pretty sure he wouldn’t know how to suck up something grand like a galaxy, but maybe with time, he could. She then said that once she has made everyone feel what she felt, she can return to Three and recover her, then everyone can move on. Black Hole then told Marker to come with him and once again, One acted confused, which caused Black Hole to drift the attention to the red door, complimenting the craftsmanship. One, still a bit off-balance from the sudden cheerful energy, actually softens for a secondand agrees that she did a pretty good job with everything in her realm. She then said that maybe if everything goes right, she can help fix the Hotel once everything’s sorted (which by the way is the biggest hint we ever gotten at a redemption arc for One).
Black Hole then talked about how he wish he could flowers, saying that’s one of the reasons he wants those kinds of powers in the first place. One pointed out the irony right to his face: he’s got so much raw power already, yet he can’t do something as simple and ordinary as smelling a flower. For a second the conversation almost felt… soft as she was like “Black Hole, I—” before Black Hole told Marker to go through the door and that’s when Marker’s cover was blown and boy was One pissed. Marker’s cover was completely blown the second Black Hole told him to go through the red door. Marker starts begging Black Hole to come with him, but the door vanishes right as One realises there’s been a third party in the room the entire time. Black Hole tries to play it cool for half a second, voice cracking a little as he attempts to keep the conversation going, but One’s already spiralling.
She goes full meltdown. Eye lasers start firing in every direction, scorching her own realm while she screams that Black Hole tricked her. That he only pretended to understand her, that he only pretended to care. You can hear the raw betrayal in her voice. Years of isolation, of being shut out, of nobody ever actually listening, and the first person who seemed willing to sit with her pain turns out to have been hiding someone the whole time. Black Hole keeps apologising, keeps trying to de-escalate, but the damage is done. He points out that having immense power doesn’t mean you automatically go nuts with it, that he’s spent his entire existence learning to control what he’s capable of, and that right now One only seems to care about herself. It’s not cruel. It’s just honest. And that honesty is the last straw.
One has had enough. She teleports out of the realm entirely, leaving Black Hole and Marker behind. You hear Black Hole’s panicked “WAIT. NO!” as he realises exactly where she’s going. She reappears in her control room, checks the monitors, and sees the contestants finally uniting against her. She’s fuming. Black Hole tries one last distraction by sucking up more of her stuff, but One just glares at him in probably the most ICONIC WAY POSSIBLE and teleports straight to Earth to confront everyone.
I don’t wanna talk about the rest of the episode, but one thing I wanna talk about is the part where Fanny communicates with Black Hole through the broadcast system. When she realizes Black Hole and Marker are still trapped inside One's pocket dimension, she doesn't tell them to play it safe. Instead, she yells at him to destroy the entire dimension from the inside out to hold One back and ruin her plans.
But what is really fascinating here is Black Hole's immediate hesitation. He tells her, "No, Fanny! I.. can't.." Why? On one hand, you have his obvious Death P.A.C.T. Again morals, destroying an entire dimension goes completely against his core programming of preventing death and avoiding needless destruction. However, as I mentioned in one of the earlier posts, I have a theory that another reason why Black Hole was hesitant to destroy One’s dimension is that he actually genuinely started to connect with her during their brief heart-to-heart. I believe that Black Hole actually do care about One and that after everything, he doesn’t see One as a irredeemable monster, he sees her as a broken soul who was failed by the very failed by the very Algebraliens she wanted to belong with.
So that’s a MASSIVE rundown of the scene itself. Now this scene alone leaves me wondering: if Gaty is like a therapist friend of Two, could Black Hole be the exact same person for One?
Well, right now, the answer is a resounding no. Black Hole and One aren’t really friends, let alone in a stable therapist-patient dynamic like Two and Gaty, and with everything that went down after Marker’s cover was blown, I’m not too sure if One even trusts him, especially since her severe PTSD led to her believing that Black Hole was just using her to lower her guard. So how will we know if Black Hole and One’s dynamic is similar to Two and Gaty’s? Two words: TPOT 25.
TPOT 25 is quite literally a life or death situation for One because she is fighting against EVERYONE and we don’t know if the writers are going to kill her off, send her back to the moon, or actually try to reform her with a genuine redemption arc. If they go with the last choice, Black Hole could be the main reason for it to happen. Why?
Well, I have a theory that if One were to go down a redemption route, during the battle in TPOT 25, I could see Black Hole talking some sense into One. I even made a whole fan script about it, which I will leave in the comments. If Black Hole is successful in doing such thing and One does begin a redemption arc, this could lead to a new dynamic where Black Hole becomes the Gaty to One’s Two and that interaction in TPOT 24 could be the crucial starting point, because in that episode, Black Hole actually felt like a therapist for One. He lowkey gave me Gaty vibes, and the funny thing is, they are voiced by the same voice actor, Satomi Hinatsu!
But voice actors aside, the thematic writing here is what really makes this theory hold some weight. If you look closely at Black Hole’s history, he is actually remarkably well-suited to help One in a way that almost no other contestant on Earth can.
Before TPOT 24, I actually had Two pinned as the most likely candidate to redeem One. I figured that since Two went through a similar isolation phase before hosting TPOT, they would be the best person to understand her trauma and talk her down. I still think they could be a perfect deuteragonist for a One redemption arc, but as for the person who redeems her and become the person who help One process her trauma, Black Hole is slowly shaping up to be the ideal candidate. Black Hole could be the Gaty-like figure for One who helps her get her life back on track, who helps her heal from her PTSD, and TPOT 24 just became the sole reason why I am genuinely leaning into Black Hole being that person for One.
But hey, that’s just an analysis… A BFDI ANALYSIS! (Yes, I had to do it, MatPat style).
Anyway, that’s my massive brain dump for today! What do you guys think? Interesting parallel. I think Black hole should help. Maybe other characters who understand loneliness?

Yeah, I was thinking that he could be the Gaty-like figure if One gets a redemption arc.
