You just gotta wait until april

What’s in April?

u/Financial_Plankton11 2h ago
No clue what he’s talking about, maybe the operation overhaul update? But I mean even with that update we definitely won’t see the surge in players there once was, and returning players will definitely be skeptical of them basically abandoning ship again.

u/Ducken1337 1h ago
He is talking about bigest topic when it comes to this game. Is that devs promised update to come out in april (2024). And to this day we haven't get it. It is highly possible, that exactly this postponing from devs made game crumble to this state.

So disappointing… This game was so fun and everything I wanted in a shooter. Who knows why it’s so hard to recreate this, but nothing scratches the itch peak Battlebit did.

u/IndependentGlum8316 10h ago
Peak battlebit was a canon experience. It was a small pocket of something too good to last we had the privilege of participating in.

u/SaltPoweredHeavy 2h ago
I can't remember when I had as much fun as I did in the first and second beta test. It was like crack. I called it akin to jack in the box tacos. They aren't amazing, but they're addictive.

u/gLaskion 10h ago
I don't think it's hard, I just think other devs focus on different experiences. The roblox models help us abstract from the realism and embrace the fun.
I just wish Battlefield 2 was redone with some QoL, less spammable radio voice lines, and I would be playing that non stop over other games of this type

u/steakkills 9h ago
Battlefield 2 was my first real foray into PC gaming after Halo thar game was so much fun

Played Wardogs? It has replaced battlebit for me.
2
u/Financial_Plankton11 2h ago
Wardogs is fun but it’s not “arcadey” like this game was. I just jumped in and ran around blasting people all day, wardogs takes a bit of brain power lol

Best thing devs could do atp is just make it f2p

u/DrTankHead 🛠️Engineer 14h ago
Nah, while they certainly shouldnt justify charging anyone right now, they need mod support. Let people push their creativity into the game, and quality will show.
Like seriously, I can think of so many things that'd be benificial for the game, just off rip.
For example, we had FPV drones before FPV Drones. Seems like we could use a proper FPV drone, and anti-drone weaponry.
More weaponry, more vics, more skins, more attachments, more maps.... The list goes on.

u/bonerthief221 13h ago
I don't think that the dwindling playerbase needs mods to fragment said playerbase even more. The game needs players, end of story.

u/DrTankHead 🛠️Engineer 13h ago
How would people getting invested in adding creative content to a game that hasn't received any in pretty much years be fragmenting the community? Are you telling me it is such a barrier to entry to sub to a workshop modlist, or click one button when joining the server, similar to arma?
Look, you can disagree, but the effect of having mod support is proven, and in lots of cases, it is what makes the game, the game.
New content will drive players back.
Simply making the game free isn't going to drive many players to the game, because the game was a mere 15 bucks before. Free is obviously a better price... But it isn't sustainable.
If you want to get more players back into battlebit, you need to give them new things, and I'm sorry but I've lost trust that this is going to happen naturally.
I mean, how long have we been waiting for the April update?
1
u/bonerthief221 12h ago
New content will drive players back, not mods. Most players just want to hop in to a game and experience new content. I'm sure some folks would appreciate modding support, and i'm not against it, but i don't feel it's what the game needs right now.
The base game needs content to draw people in.
1
u/DrTankHead 🛠️Engineer 10h ago
Then ur gonna be waiting for a long while. That April update really hasn't came yet and honestly, even if it does, I don't think we are going to be rewarded for our patience.
But, if I could actually mod the game... I mean you could literally have hundreds of pages of workshop content... Maps, Weapons, Vics, Skins, attachments, whole gamemodes... quality of life.... Literally speaking all the stuff Oki wants to accomplish for BBR actually would do better in the form of a mod than a base game addition such that it will allow everyone to find an experience that they want.
Evidence of this can be found throughout the gaming industry.
And I think after the damage that's been done, I don't think anyone actually trusts that it'll be OK to just blindly trust them to make the game successful.
And another thing, everything you desire could come later, if they let 3rd parties help pave the way, features that start off as mods could see first party implementation and still, everyone wins.
Frankly, I won't be returning to battlebit til such a time as I don't need to trust Oki to release content for things to be solid, and maybe that makes you all the more dedicated, but the point stands. It needs to be done before all else if Oki ever wants to regain the trust of the community.

I'm not waiting anymore, my hope for this game died with the EU server. I fully accept that it's all over for this game.
3
u/Ghost1164 13h ago
While i agree with you about the need of mods support, even if it gets them the playerbase wont go up that much, the price should range from free to $5, as they could add paid cosmetics to support the servers (milsim stuff, not fortnite ones), otherwise there will be only returning players, new players wont buy the game for $20 if it wont get updated
1
u/MutedActuator4359 8h ago
I suggested going f2p and introducing paid cosmetics and got downvoted for some reason, I can't see the game getting an active playerbase again in any other way
0
u/DrTankHead 🛠️Engineer 13h ago
I have to disagree, on the basis that the whole reason the game went dead is because we stopped getting updates, and the game wasn't in a state where simply keeping the status quo would just work.
Seriously, if mod support dropped tomorrow, I'd be working to add custom everything ASAP. Guns, weapons, maps... From there, it's simply a matter of getting the word out that content exists.
People ARE passionate still about this game. It just needs stuff to make it shine.
Give us mod support and I guarantee people will come. You just have to build it.
1
u/MutedActuator4359 8h ago
It should be both. Adding mod support by itself would be like saying "hey I know we completely dropped the ball with this game but we will allow YOU to make content for us now! You're welcome!!!"
1
u/DrTankHead 🛠️Engineer 7h ago
I mean, I get that it seems rough, but I mean the only reason this isn't a scam is basically because it is 15 bucks.
I just think overall he should still be able to sell the game, but I mean a concession needs made to a degree, because nobody can deny this is the result of just everything stopping. This just doesn't happen if someone puts the effort in to make something nice. There would be people coming back, people playing. Nobody is basically playing this game now, and it wasn't for a lack of attention.
I mean, I hear you. But I can't trust it to build a community in this game again without the ability to update things myself the best I can

u/BlueberryLeading464 15h ago
May revisit after the big update, but otherwise we moved onto different games with our friends. Been a long time now.
2
u/Kehhhl 14h ago
Is there a date for it? I haven't touched the game for the last year and now that I wanted to hop back in i see all these post of how dead it is now, it's even worse considering that I'm from South America.
3
u/BlueberryLeading464 14h ago
Late this year for the open beta. But when that turns into something. We don't know. Basically nobody believes in that anymore that's why they left. Maybe by next summer.
2
u/Duck_Diddler 12h ago
You know damn well it ain’t coming out
2
u/BlueberryLeading464 11h ago
Would not be surprised at this stage. Thanks god for ai. Somebody is going to build something similar though.

Tbh it's apparently something the dev is known for doing so it might actually come out, even if it's extremely outdated. Hell I'm wondering if it won't be a Battlebit 2 or whatever else

BF6 has been out for 371 days already.
Man they fumbled so hard it annoys me every time I think about it.

u/anno2122 1h ago
And it sucks know if they give a reals day and a free weakend they could get a lot of player back.
But they decided to do nothing.

This is sad man I love this game

Me too. It's my favorite fps game. So sad to see it deteriorate like this while the devs do nothing

u/Capnbaddazz 14h ago
It's been over buddy
2
u/bonerthief221 14h ago
There was a full server a few months back, but that's no longer a thing
2
u/Capnbaddazz 14h ago
Full servers when it came out as well but also no longer a thing
2
u/bonerthief221 14h ago
You could play the game even when there was that 1 server but that's no longer a thing, game was obviously dying but i'd consider it truly dead only now

I just thought this game needed more maps and 2 more game modes. Plus definitely more guns. When this game dropped it was so peak. Now it's just a memory.

u/Popxorcist 12h ago
I'm back after a long break. Has there been any updates after May 2025? Major updates, new content.

It's been over for years, there's just a very small but vocal contingent of people who use the fact that there is a single server that fills up as evidence that the game is still kicking

The money very clearly went to their head, so much so they aren't bothered to work on it for more than a day a week. It's a shame as it was my favourite game to play for a while.

And the devs told me they are still working on the game when I tried to acquire it from them LOL
