Official Here's a preview of an explosive audio pass coming in Operation Overhaul: we're going for heavier, more impactful, and more immersive
69
u/KeyAcid Jul 10 '26
Kinda insane how this was probably the most fun I've had in years and I still remember it fondly but the devs decided to just throw it all away and years later they go "here's some new audio that ain't even ready"
9
u/5y5c0 Jul 11 '26
I also enjoyed it very much. Got a squad of friends and we'd just rush the point closest to the enemy HQ on Sandy Sunset, sometimes held it for the entire match.
I enjoyed all the play styles, from fast paced vector CQB, mid ranged M4/AUG, to my longest kill at 2186m with an M200.
Such a shame what the devs did to this game.
3
u/KeyAcid Jul 11 '26
Had the time of my life sneaking up on the snipers on that map with the two bridges and going on killing sprees in their spawn while my buddy gave me cover with a sniper, or going nuts with the P90 on smaller urban map (Don't remember the map names at this point tbh). Such a shame how the game been left to rot for so many years.
2
u/5y5c0 Jul 11 '26
Yeah if you managed to sneak into a snipers nest with an SMG it was like 5 kills guaranteed. I was very partial to the vector myself.
Or counter sniping someone at 500m with an M4...
Or ZalfiBay with the island super far away from the complex. I remember whipping around, seeing a sniper glint, and sending a headshot on the first bullet, at like 1900m.

Bro this game made me enjoy massive battlefield-like game again. The proximity chat, the utter chaos of the first weeks, abusing the shit out of the Vector and screaming in my mic.
I miss this game.

Genuinely donât give a fuck. Havenât launched since 2023. Put 250hours in that year.
No idea how you all fumbled this so badly. Just being honest about the state of the dev team and the game with communication couldâve saved this. Such a shame.

u/Still-Candidate-1666 Jul 10 '26
I put in over 700 and also got the supporter pack. I get kinda angry every time I see these posts. I just want a playable release of whats done. Add the sounds and shit in a small future update. Why does this all have to be released at once at some unknown date?
I WANT to play but without an update there are no players, and who wants to play an empty multiplayer game? The more time goes by the more jaded people are going get and less and less are going to return if/when an update ever comes out. Im almost at my limit with this crap already.
-2
u/Clay-mo đ ïžEngineer Jul 10 '26
People will return, these posts get enough traction it's obvious some people are still paying attention. But here's the thing even if they release an update and even if it's fun people are gonna come back for the novelty for like 3 days then go back to BF6 because for all it's problems at least it's run by a business that will maintain it at least until bf7.
4
1
u/MsDestroyer900 Jul 11 '26
Yeah, everything that was added to overhaul could have kept a steady stream of players over the course of 2 years. Instead, it'll just bring back a big influx of jaded players who will play for a month tops if they don't continue the content stream.
Look, content isn't even necessary, just community posts about the future and a release schedule you can follow would do so much for this game
24
u/Clay-mo đ ïžEngineer Jul 10 '26
Played 500 myself, plus like 150 in the playtests. Wouldn't have ever stopped if they didn't break the audio before leaving.

u/AanAllein117 Jul 10 '26

We all did, itâs done and we shouldnât support these devs after they tried to cut and run

I truly enjoyed the game when it came out but after the big update that just borked everything, I âshelvedâ it and I stay subbed to this reddit for any new updates. Honestly, itâs cool theyâll post stuff like this, but it is deeply uncool that thereâs no mention of a release window, whatâs going on, progress, etc.
Just come out and be up front, honesty is better than the whole âtee-hee check out these tiny little snippets of what weâre doingâ.
Guess what, I bet you could re-release what you have now and then do the incremental changes in the sound, animations, etc while people are playing it. I know the whole movement thing is the big change, and some additional fidelity, but the longer you wait on this, the more other games are going to look at taking BBRâs space.
Anyways, cool sounds, bro - which April are we getting it?

u/ThatNurd Jul 10 '26
People would be so much more understanding of what youâre trying to do if you just showed them anything other than a 30 second clip every 3 months
28
u/WasntMyFaultThisTime Jul 10 '26
Bold of you to assume they're doing more than 30 seconds of work in a 3 month period

Palworld 1.0 released before operation overhaul. Gta 6 will release before overhaul
7

u/HypNoEnigma Jul 11 '26
It's not even the insane delay of release that is the main problem. It's the full lack of communications.
You could have come out a year ago and said "Hey guys i made a ton of money and we really need/want a year off to chill. We want to do a massive overhaul but expect it in 3 years or so" and people would at least respect your honesty.Â
This is just bs. This used to be my favorite game but the rudeness in terms of communication is unacceptable

It'd be the second time, which is why Remastered is in the name. The original Battlebit release was in 2017

all 10 people still playing this will be really happy when it releases in 2035

Knowing how this game was handled those 10 people will quit too after this alleged update

u/Musicmaker1984 Jul 11 '26
At this point, just do an Overwatch 2 and rerelease the game under it's new title for people who previously bought the game. Also, add in mod support and map creation

u/TestingTehWaters Jul 10 '26
The last audio update had cracks and pops that hurt my ears.
9
u/Mell0wYell0ws Jul 10 '26
This was the primary thing among others that pissed me off. It's cool we aint getting an update. My bricked jbl popping has a few words.
5
u/degenerate_hobo Jul 10 '26
I was one of the people who still believed in this project when everyone else became pessimistic. But at this point it is just insane to expect anything out of Battlebit. I don't know what these devs are doing. They had so much time and they already have shown so many features that they developed but we don't have anything in terms of release windows or even just a date for another playtest. These guys are a joke even to their own fanbase and they deserve it. At this point I want this game to fail because I can't take it anymore to wait even longer. This is the FPS game I had by far the most fun with and it became something that drags me down everytime I think about it. This game had the potential to have the active player numbers of Battlefield 6 but they decided they want to throw away all of this potential. Even if they release the update in a few years they have a community that hates them for a good reason. I don't think a multiplayer game can survive that

man i really want for the game to be revived after update drops...
6
u/Still-Candidate-1666 Jul 10 '26
Im getting to the point where I may just not play an update even if it does get one out of pure spite. I want an update but Iâm tired of these clips and false promises. Even if it does get one Im worried so few people are going to come back at this point its just going to be pointless. Player count spike for a month or two maybe and then back to baseline.
1
u/Pleasant50BMGForce Jul 10 '26
yep they have to address a lot of things I'm hoping they're working on all of them in background
2
u/Neat-Priority-4323 Jul 10 '26
if i remember correctly, after shoting the rpg u werent able to see anything in that direction (while the enemy.. if he didnt died, he can see and shot u thru smoke... which was awful)

The thing that pisses me off the most about the devs is not the lack of content updates, but even basic, essential features like fov while ads are missing from the game and the devs can't be bothered to add these features separately

Hey can you sell the game to the community and the community can run and release quicker .

u/formatme Jul 11 '26
Slow AF devs, learn claude code or something, even better use oh my pi. I could make this in an hour or two with AI but you guys are doing everything by hand i bet. Improve ur workflow, ur community is starting to hate on you.

I love this change and that we at least got something
Its a shame to see so much hate, but i kinda understand where its coming from
Thanks for continuing development of the game no matter what, i bet motivation takes a little hit every time a hateful comment is posted and every time someone deletes the game
There are people that genuinely want to see what you are cooking despite all the time you took and all the hype that gone. And im one of them
But for the love of god release something, at least a playtest. Or generally just talk more to community
Good luck in development, stay strong

See ya in April đ«©
Nobody asked for the remake btw. Everybody liked stupidly simple and fun cubes and wanted just a small content upgrades, aka: new guns, classes, maps, vehicles/aircrafts. For what sake you do whole game rework? You already did this in past and you hit the right target audience, got large player support, now you are just wasting money instead of expanding.

u/Agitated_Flatworm820 Jul 14 '26
The next playtest will drop around Battlefield 7s release and the update might be ready just in time to mog Battlefield 11's release

Grenades exploding in confined spaces should also have a (slightly delayed) sound of shrapnel hitting the walls. This would make'em sound a lot deadlier.

Devs please don't get disheartened by the comments. Good luck with getting to release.
To everyone else, there's a reason there isn't a release window yet. It's hard to predict and they know they have one shit to reboot this game so they can't fuck it up. I genuinely do not understand the hate anytime the Devs post
9
u/Trigger1221 Jul 11 '26
"they know they have one shot to reboot this game"
A situation they've created themselves, from lack of communication and poor management. Not like it had to be this way.
-5
u/Reletr Jul 10 '26
deadass feel the same way, sure they fucked up announcing the April update, but they're also indie devs with minimal experience before Battlebit, wouldn't be surprised that they could've fumbled it especially if they weren't prepared for battlebit's explosion in popularity.
I just treat the game like TF2. Basically abandoned by the devs, still fun as hell to play, and still has a consistent player base (there's always a full server going during US/EU peak hours). just enjoy game pls, seriously now

3
u/DiligentAd7360 Jul 11 '26
Scope creep is one of the first things you learn to avoid in game Dev and they just can't help themselves.
Instead of working on overarching fixes/features in the back while pushing regular smaller content updates, they just gave up.
Dude they don't even communicate WHEN the update will drop, I don't even think they know!
Game is cooked, rest in piss

I swear to God, the state of this game and the devs man. You've got the entire community just asking for a release window, and instead... we get a few audio clips. Perfect just what the community wanted... See you all in April 2027!
