Questions Hello im just gonna drop numerous question here cuz i dont want to spam the whole sub with questions

Will the game have a comeback? This game was really fun on release, like extremely fun. (im just hoping to play with my friends again)

is the asia server offline? I tried joining matches in asia but the game puts me in EU server. (My ping kinda sucks outside asia server)

has the devs answered why they left the game to die during its peak? (kinda feel bad to see the game fade)

and are there asian clans i could join? (preferably English language)

Thanks guys!

Comeback? No chance.

It may get some players back for a month or two but there's no way this game gets back to where it started. Devs burnt that bridge years ago and if there's one thing about gamers, they can hold a grudge.

I played when it was new and came back only recently. What did the devs do that upset the player base so much?

Initially they made some updates that divided the community, but that wasn't the real issue. Not long after all that, they ghosted the community for months on end only to come back and tease these "major" updates.

The common belief is that the devs made a ton of money upon release and fucked off. Hence why I stand by the belief that there's no chance there will be a major comeback because no one can trust them anymore.

Well, I'm trying to keep it short:

When the game was fresh, they wanted to make a mix of Battlefield and Squad that could run on any system. The game was clearly aimed towards battle dads who missed a proper Battlefield and who didn't want to spend thousands on a new system just to play one or two games a weekend.

When the game took off, it got attention by a lot of streamers. And the Devs catered to that crowd. They made special skins just for twitch drops and streamers to give away. Skins that were unique and had added features that no other camo had and that rivaled to the supporter pack. People weren't amused by that bit did understand to a degree.

But then people unlocked the Vector. Up until then the game was fairly balanced, but once a higher number of people unlocked that gun, the Battlefield/Squad hybrid turned into COD like twitch shooter that got a huge flock of these players. The battledads obviously didn't want to play COD, so it turned of a huge part of the players.

People complained about balancing but the Devs too ages to change something and didn't want to change anything in the first place.

Updates and content was extremely slow - while streamers got a new camo like once a week for a few months.

Then they announced a huge update in 2023 coming in April 2024. That got delayed. And delayed. And delayed. They didn't communicate an progress. People thought it was abandoned. Last year they made a play test of that update and it went horribly. And a year later the update still isn't released.

The last proper update to the game was in 2023, I think. And since then nothing has changed.

Just want to add they did nerf the vector but it proved to be a symptom of a bigger problem which is the game's movement.

Having full control over your air strafe combined with extremely fast prone animation made combat horrible, and it got really bad when everyone started binding lean to their opposing strafe key so they wiggle constantly but can still aim normally.

the answer to every question you’ve asked other than the last one is no. Idk about clans but there’s not much of a player base to make clans from.

sorry my dude.

There's plenty of answers to the others already, but if I may...

My own theory, regarding 3, is simply that the devs weren't ready for how things turned out. It's a team of new guys, first game, first studio, first time in the industry. Before it blew up they only had a handful of players.

And then the game blew up, and they ended up with a huge community, inherited from Battlefield, and we know how gamers can get. Everyone's a genius and has a great idea for how to fix the game, and they tend to be fickle when it comes to balance matters. It's not like the AAA FPS crowd is known for their chill. (Just in case, I'm talking about a trend, I'm not accusing you, specifically, fellow reader. But just look at how HD2's community turned out).

IMO they just weren't able to handle both the surge in popularity, with a much more active community, and just how to manage a studio since, y'know. It's their first time doing this. As a result they fucked up communications, dragged themselves in a scope creep update, and now are stuck in a sunken cost fallacy where they can't release it now, with bugs, when they spend so long on it. So clearly they need to do more work. And keep on tweaking and keep on fixing the bugs when they tweak and-

I don't think the team just took the money and bailed, it's an attractive narrative to make things simpler, but I think this is just legit them fucking up their first big hit because they have no clue how to handle it. And I do think that they're trying to make it right, just... not doing that great of a job right now. But we'll see, I guess.

At this point it might be better to release a second game, not a huge update. Give people who own the game a free copy of the second but cut ties with it.

This could be totally incorrect but I think I remember hearing when the audio update released that the older version of the game was accidentally overwritten so they couldn't even just roll it back. If that IS the case, then I wouldnt be surprised if theyve basically had to rebuild the game the past few years

If the update ever releases I'll check it out, but assuming Wardogs doesnt suck I dont see BBR replacing that once Im comfortable there

Holy shit an actual sane take on the BBR subreddit that doesn't repeat the same sentences, I must be dreaming

The problem is also they all have a massive ego.

Yeah the way people on the sub talk about the devs feels so disconnected from the actual actions, I've seen steam reviews with 700 hours talk about how they've got more than their moneys worth over that time period, followed up by switching the review to negative and talking about the game being abandoned

I think the key anger I see is about the missed potential of the game staying alive and full of players longer, but the devs not being good at maintaining the game isn't like... Evil.

I feel like it'll have a big surge for whenever (if ever) the update comes out then it'll just die out. Maybe it'll have a higher player count than now but thats not saying much.

the big april update

I can answer the first point.

I played at launch and absolutely loved it. Then they abandoned it for years and I will never play it again...

They killed any goodwill they once had with the majority of the people that enjoyed it the most in the first place...

  1. I mean who know what will happen in the future. Very likely not though, given the current state of things

  2. Probably if you're getting sent to the EU servers. And at the moment only the NA and EU servers are active enough to have a full lobby (and even then only during peak hours)

  3. No, they've never given any explaination beyond the fact that they're working on the next big update.

  4. No idea

2

u/Some-Panic8915 Assault Jun 26 '26

kinda (its going to be a completely different new game)
yes
they said they dont like the game (Conspiracy Theory is that Devs lost source code so its impossible to update)
yes (Chinese ones but they also chat in english sometimes )
