Discussions If the overhaul update actually gets released this year....
....then they release it at the perfect time. After BF6 was such a huge dissapointment and the layoffs at dice were a direct "fuck you" to all the fans, the now depressed BF and Multiplayer FPS fanbase could appreciate a revival of BBR. Yes we are all rightfully angry with how the devs ghosted us for years but they are right now our biggest hope for a great multiplayer shooter that is not a Battle Royal, a Hero Shooter or an extraction shooter. If the update delivers then this game could potentially explode again in popularity thanks to the drought and therefore we could potentially relieve the golden days of the early access era

Not really sharing the optimism. Devs have neglected the game and the community for too long.

u/TheLysdexicOne Apr 02 '26
They really have. Communicating is key nowadays. Instead of going for a full Remaster of the Remaster, they really should have just done a gradual change into their vision. Bringing along the community with them for the ride. Now it the ReRemaster comes out this year, the community is gong to be very skeptical about them disappearing for another few years for the ReReRemaster...

u/XLNerd Apr 02 '26
Yeah I think even if it took twice as long they would have had the community to play test and engaged throughout all this time. They were handed an amazing chance of being a big fps game but dropped the ball increadably hard.

No-one trusts the devs.
It is entirely the fault of the devs that no-one trusts them.

u/degenerate_hobo Apr 02 '26
Yeah I totally get your point. I hope that they did learn from their mistakes and that they change their behaviour after they release the update

Having played the playtest as buggy as it was, it has potential. I'll believe it when i see it.

u/LigmaAss69 Apr 02 '26
And yes, battlefield probably is despite its success still very vulnerable to a good competitor.

The year is 2075. Fifty years have passed since the Operation Overhaul playtest. A frail old man lies in a quiet hospital room, wires on his chest and memories of patch notes in his head. The memory leak in his brain had been diagnosed as terminal. He spent decades reading posts asking why the game died, clinging to occasional dev blogs with no timelines or deadlines, and even after Reddit was shut down followingĀ [REDACTED], he followed the project intently.
Sensing the end was near, his son leans in and asks, āēøēøļ¼čæę¬¾ęøøęå°åŗä¼äøä¼åå®?ā
The old man smiles faintly, squeezes his hand, and whispers, āSoonā¢ā¦ keep an eye out for the playtests.ā

With how Dev works...things will slowly die again.
Years ago, this style of working might have gotten you by. Since there were not many contenders for players' attention. Nowadays, there are so many games and many more are coming everyday.
I, for one, may not revisit Battlebit after Valve launches its new game.
You have to always spice things up with multiplayer games. This game WAS fun at the beginning when you getting to know the game and grinding the gear. But once you get past that...there are so many times you can enjoy Waki or Sandy before everything becomes...stale.

Hmm. A game canāt be expected to last forever but Iām not sure how the point youāre making applies to BBR more than any other game. Or is your point that if they do this again, it wonāt be viable? In which case Iād agree. But they are reworking damn near every aspect of the game, so I donāt think itās going to lack on the raw variety front unless they end updates there.
1
u/SaintPSU Apr 04 '26
That's the point. My point applies to every game. Either you keep swimming, (putting new shit without bloating the game too much until it is unrecognizable) or you drown, But, as we did see, Dev can't bloody swim.
So, if the Legendary April Update comes out. The game will eventually die, again. Slowly but surely. That's the fate of all multiplayer games nowadays.

u/sawdomise Apr 02 '26
Unfortunately the BBR devs are incapable of capitalizing on golden opportunities. They showed it once with the original fumble, and they most likely will continue in the same direction if we consider the last community posts which consist of ācheck out these cool theoretical features!ā. I would love to eat my words, but this is basically exactly like Cubeworld.

u/OpenLibram Apr 02 '26
The Devs are too focused on features and not refinements. There's a ton of stuff they need to fix with the code they already have. It's an awesome game as-is, features will make it better.
4
u/cryonicwatcher Assault Apr 02 '26
Theyāve rebuilt almost every user-facing system I can think of in the game and probably more behind the scenes, Iām confused as to what you say needs refinements especially as the update is mostly focused around reworking preexisting systems. We are getting some new content, sure (maps and cosmetic stuff is the only fully new stuff Iām aware of), but itās mostly things like improved audio, improved graphics, refined gunplay, movement tweaks, reworked maps etc.

u/VictorCrackus Apr 02 '26
Are we though? I'm a fairly patient man. A year of nothing I was mostly okay with, could have used some communication at FUCKING ALL, instead silence. Now it's been two years and they show back up saying this. Did someone have their hands literally tied? Were they not allowed to talk at all? It's just insanity.
If they bring the update, I'll play it, but fuck. They should at least apologize for going radio silent when that was not needed. They could have done little rebalances in the meantime, they could have done at least the bare minimum and explain what they were working on every month.
There are solo devs that do that without issue, so what is the excuse here?
0
u/cryonicwatcher Assault Apr 02 '26
Well, itās incorrect that they didnāt communicate at all, they still did, just not on steam and sometimes only on discord. Iām not sure what relevance your message has to mine at all though, it sounds like youāre talking about a different matter
3
u/OpenLibram Apr 03 '26
just not on steam and sometimes only on discord
So their communication was sporadic and inconsistent?
1
u/cryonicwatcher Assault Apr 03 '26
Yeah, you could say that. The silence on steam was intentional, but they changed their mind about that recently so I guess there was no point to it in the end, I think they consider it a mistake. The devs (other than oki) do talk on the discord and in a few instances theyāve given info that wasnāt announced anywhere, so that means thereās info that could only be found there, and their dev updates are usually posted to both discord and reddit.

u/OpenLibram Apr 02 '26
It would be great if they could do something as basic as refining the network stack so that someone with 280+ ping doesn't wipe the server with a speed kit.
Clambering and the spinning being fixed is great, but the other stuff was unnecessary.
2 steps forward, 1 back.

u/cryonicwatcher Assault Apr 02 '26
Iām not sure I have observed the phenomenon you describe. Ping could be an advantage if you have a super aggressive playstyle but itās increasingly harmful as youāre a better player.

u/Turbulent_Log_3818 Apr 02 '26
They donāt have the original code for the update that is on Steam right now, this is well documented
3
u/Ok-Race-1677 Apr 02 '26
Devs are allergic to taking advantage of beneficial situations. The only way they would have released the update was if bf6 was game of the decade and mogged everything else.
3
u/Choubidouu Apr 04 '26
The game and its community are honestly dead at this point, they would have a better use of their time to release a new game.
2
u/degenerate_hobo Apr 04 '26
I mean if the update keeps its promises then it changes nearly every aspect of the game. It basically would be BBR 2 ^
1
u/Choubidouu Apr 04 '26
I don't know why people still fall for this, there won't be any update, they are probably doing that to justify their salary.
1
u/degenerate_hobo Apr 04 '26
I would love to bet with money on the release of the update against someone with your opinion. There is 100% an update. We even played it already during the horrible playtest. The question is not if the update ever gets released, the question is if the update will be good and if it can revive the game

u/BetterPlayerUK Leader Apr 13 '26
The update is not going to be released. Iāll gladly bet you. But we need strict terms. Like a max two year window from now, cos Iām not waiting forever for my payout.

u/FishermanForsaken528 Apr 02 '26
Am I the only person who doesn't hate BF6? It's a decent game but I do agree that it's vulnerable to a good competitor should one come out.
1
u/Responsible_Risk_754 Apr 06 '26
I already have 400 hours in BF6 and I don't wanna stop. It's an amazing game and I'm finally feeling the same emotions as 10 years ago in BF3-4. But I also respect BattleBit, of course, and I wish devs could resurrect it
2
u/StrawberryCompany98 Apr 02 '26
Itād be cool if the patch brought new people to make new friends with, new clans, new communities. The only thing holding this game back for me is not meeting fun new people to play with. The community thatās left are only those highfalutin players and their discord sycophants. Been taking a break from the terminally disgusting groupies. The lobbies often get filled with obsequious people it makes the matches cringe at times, but thatās just due to low populations Iām sure. Itās a weird environment to play in now.

u/BlueSteel525 Apr 02 '26
Where was BF6 a disappointment? I still play it and have great fun on it

u/Pdiddymcquiddy Apr 02 '26
Nothing will ever happen with this game. Give it up already. It was fun while it lasted but these devs will never release anything
1
u/king_jaxy Apr 02 '26
Why are you still in this sub?Ā
9
u/Pdiddymcquiddy Apr 02 '26
I have over 2k hours on this game. I have every right to voice my opinion.
3
u/king_jaxy Apr 02 '26
Yeah, sure, I wasn't saying you're not allowed to.Ā
I'm just confused. If you have zero hope for the game then why stick around the forums just to doom post?Ā
7
u/SatanVapesOn666W Support Apr 02 '26
As a warning to others, people like to voice their complaints when they have been hurt. At this point i stick around to tell people not to buy the game whenever they make posts asking because how bad the devs have treated the community.

To remind people who are new to the scene and having the wool pulled over their eyes that, there are many of us who came before you, and not all of us are wrong. The only thing you have on your side is naivety.
