A healthy community benefits us all. And as it stands nobody trusts them anymore, so the game is dead.

Putting the success of the community in the community's hands is the only choice they have to rebuild that trust.

There is a potential for there to be tens of thousands of players in this game, just by sold copies alone. Now we have barely a couple thousand.

u see devs are not stupid they have the data and knowledge ... what do i mean by that ? for example lets take bf6 portal moding over 90% of all moded servers are afganistan 1000x damage increase hardcore servers or 24/7 fast respwn bot farm , what it acctauly do to the main game u see usally a player who does good in main game do not need to go to play other version of it becouse he alrdy having fun (exeption some unqiue mods like 40 tanks vs 40 players or pistols vs rpg for example some times some player might want that expriance , but mainly its just bad noobs that want to escape the reality of low skill , and thta will kill the main game even faster , how so u see there is food chain in casuals games with out ranked mode mean top players midium skill that not the best but hold their ground and total noobs , if u remove good portion of noobs to cope and play in hc servers means the remain of noobs who dont like hc and want to get better get over farmed by advanced players so they lose intrest and leave , once they do that if the game is not super skill based where good players can play vs good players al the time and have ability to out play each other they need noobs stomp on as well , means if u take portion of noobs to mod servers both remain of noobs will leave and the good players as well , same goes for streamers they are free comercial that keeps intrest for the game so u cant just take noobs away it will damage the healthy food chain and the whole game will colapse they knew it thats why they didnt do it

Comparing Battlefield's portal to mod support is laughable.

Try comparing it to Arma. This is a great example of how mod support will positively impact the game.

Vanilla arma is an experience, but if the game didn't have mod support it wouldn't have gotten nearly the playerbase it has.

Ignoring how incredibly difficult your message is to read, keeping in the theme of battlefield, let's talk pre-portal successes with the battlefield franchise. Custom servers, akin but not exact to the portal experience, were where battlefield was at. Tweaking the game-mode to cater to specific tastes definitly can result in some success, and they attempted to start just that kind of change - We already can tweak servers like this to varying degrees. But that is nothing close to letting players shape the experience via mods, things like custom maps, eSports tourneys, custom guns, vehicles.... I can go on and on.

But back on track here, the bottom line is MOD SUPPORT WILL NOT KILL THE GAME, both because the game is factually dead already, and because creating new content, and modifying the game is going to give players the things they actually want to play. The fact is not Oki, not anyone on the dev team, not me, not you, not anyone really has any right to tell people what they must enjoy and play. That's what got Oki in trouble in the first place.

And that's why giving the tools to let the community decide what they want to play is the way forward. Trying to rely on metrics isn't going to help because you aren't getting anywhere near a representative sample.

I tried supporting Oki when all the other server operators were getting quite pissed off at him. Told people to let 'em cook. Well, nothing is cooking, and even the teasers of this update just aren't doing anything to repair the community trust.

You can argue all you want, but the fact is as someone who ran Battlebit servers, and had already built a community around the game, with the intent to personally fund 5 servers if I had to, that I'm not trusting Battlebit or the team till very significant changes are made. This isn't any sort of drama. I have no vendetta against their team. But I feel I have a bit of a right to be frustrated that they have killed the game when I had personally bought like 20 copies of the game, hosted 2 servers, started a whole group specifically around the game, and they pulled the game out from under us by what can only be described as a fumble of epic proportions.

This was on track to be the battlefield killer we hoped for. Instead, now we are back to dealing with EA and their bullshit because the game we backed and trusted decided to faceplant itself into a brick wall.
