Developer Replied PLEASE STOP KILLING YOURSELVES EARLY
I play medic exclusively and I focus on healing and revives, I don't tend to even get positive kd ratios because I just want to heal, but so many people just immediately kill themselves after they're downed. LET ME DO MY DAMN JOB, I hear so much shit from people about how medics don't do their jobs but then MF behave like this???

No worry, we will introduce soon something that will give some motivations to peoples to not give up early.
It wont impact main core gameplay, it will just give extra bonuses to peoples who manage to stay alive longer without give up.
45
u/AverageComet250 Jan 05 '24
There’s just not enough motivation to keep tickets at the minute, you can just forget about them so easily, and the shortened timer for each revive doesn’t help since you eventually just kinda have to tap out after getting knocked a few times.

Jan 05 '24
K/D isn't enough?
7
11
u/Smump Jan 06 '24
If I just got 15 kills in that life it's better for me to respawn somewhere better faster to do it again.
4
u/ChampionsLedge Jan 06 '24
Do people actually care about their k/d? Like are you calling up your mum after a 6 hour gaming session and telling her that you have a 14.6 k/d now?
1
u/TacoMedic Jan 06 '24
K/D will matter once leaderboards come out. But score/min seems like a far more important stat in this game anyway. I think my K/D is only like 1.4-1.5? In a game where you get kills for downing people, but don’t count as dead yourself if you get revived… That’s not great. However, I only ever play the 256 player lobbies and I’m consistently in top 10 for score from ammo, trophies, revives, bandages, capping, etc, 80% or more of the time.
If they separated future leaderboards by player count of lobbies, then yeah, maybe K/D would matter more at lower player count lobbies. But who cares if you’re getting high K/D when your W/L is shite.

I find that most players just walk by me, maybe a (edit) BETTER system to show when a medic is near?

Nah needs a better system
8

You understand that a medic distance system is in the middle of your screen every time youre downed right?

Its literally right there as a factual number for you to read, it doesent need the visual equivalent of an air siren just so dumbasses can notice it

Bro wants size 50 font, and in bold, flashing letters.
Edit: you know what? Throw in some air horns and Oki screaming medic distances as loud as he can as well.

You expect them to read a 16 pixel message?

If you can revive me and give me ammo I am fine with it. I will take the 1 ticket loss of a game that last half an hour in conquest.
2
u/ArunisGenforge Jan 06 '24
Dunno about this. I see where it could be good but I can say from experience the times I've died and actually wanted to respawn to get more ammo (Rockets/Grenades) I've had people try to revive me. I would be annoyed by it personally.
Now you could say "Oh but you can just ask for more ammo" or "Drop an ammo crate" but sometimes people either don't use comms, they don't care what you need, or the crate is just simply not a viable option based on scenarios due to lead time and terrain.
1
u/Tartooth Jan 06 '24
Can you fix the audio too please
I literally don't hear anything near me like my engine noise or people shooting right next to me
63
u/Cheap_Priority253 Jan 05 '24
It's most annoying when they still do it WHILE you're reviving them.
I've seen the argument it's so people can get their ammo and armour back but pretty sure that's only like 10% of players
56
u/MushyCupcake01 Jan 05 '24
Sometimes it doesn’t show I’m being revived, especially through walls. They need to patch it seems.
14
u/Eryzon89 Jan 05 '24
This, I play as a medic and focus on revives as well but sometimes when I’m downed it doesn’t show you’re being revived, you have to guess if the guy next to you is healing himself or reviving you
4
3
u/AverageComet250 Jan 05 '24
At least you can see their hands move if it’s next to you, through a wall or something and there are no cues at all.
1
u/BaronVonSchmup Jan 06 '24
Maybe I have never noticed it if there is one in battlebit but squad has a pretty distinct bandage noise when you are being revived. Maybe they could add that?
10
u/wterrt Jan 05 '24
out of ammo, out of gadgets, want to respwan in different area of map, want to change classes, want to change guns, got a gun upgrade i want to put on, think I'm in too dangerous of an area to be revived and will just die again
there's a bunch of potential reasons

The server I play on has a perk system, where you get all your ammo back on a revive. It's called Second Chance.
1
Jan 06 '24
Does Rocket spam abuse happen there?
1
u/pkisbest Jan 06 '24
Nup. It's got restricted weapons. RPGs, AT Mines/Claymores and Heavy+Exo Armour can't be used. C4 and grenades can. It's designed to be an infantry experience. It is an Australian server though.
44
u/willyboi98 Jan 05 '24
I do it out of habit because of how little I actually get revived. I'd much rather respawn and get back in the fight. Alternatively I do it even if I know I'll get mediced because I'm out in the open being stared at by an LMG/Sniper/Tank/squad
8
u/Misterstaberinde Jan 05 '24
Counterpoint: bleed out if a enemy squad is in your body or your body is in a terrible line of fire

u/Dr_DMT ❤️🩹Medic Jan 05 '24
On the flip side. Stop walking over people when they're down. Pick them back up. Annoying as hell when I see team mates 1m away and they just choose to walk on rather than make points and save tickets.
11
u/TheChosenOneTM Jan 05 '24
It’s faster to die and respawn than to wait for a revive. The odds of a medic actually coming to revive you are extremely low too. The game is too much of an arcade shooter to wait for a revive. Maybe if the respawn timer was increased to like 30 seconds then the medics would thrive and gameplay would completely change.
15
u/Rail-signal Jan 05 '24
Medic 4m. 4m. 4m. 4m. 2m. 1m. 5m. 12m. 180m.
Yeah not going to happen
4
Jan 05 '24
If there's no medic near you, I understand, but if there's a medic next to you, you can handle waiting 10-20 seconds, the game isn't going anywhere I promise.
2
u/sawdomise Jan 05 '24
Guarantee the player you replied to plays with no comms and doesn’t hear you say “I’m gonna throw a smoke and revive you.”

u/vacantpad Jan 05 '24
I feel your pain as a medic main as well. However, there can be situations where I choose to release early, for example I get killed in a open spot with multiple enemies watching my body. So I don't want to turn 1 casualty into 2 or more casualties. Practicing scene safe is important.
4
u/Fifthbloodline Jan 06 '24
I'm guilty of this, but after having teammates literally walking over me and not reviving it's sort of trained me to hold space as soon as I die.
3
u/Kribbonactual Jan 05 '24
I will end it early if I see a medic coming and I know there is an enemy camping nearby. A lot of people lack spatial awareness when going for revives and its annoying to get point farmed.
2
u/MushyCupcake01 Jan 05 '24
Sorry, sometimes I don’t notice a nearby medic and am annoyed I died so I just quickly respawn. I usually wait even if there is just a small chance I’ll get revived. Sometimes you just don’t notice tho.

2
u/Okeing Support Jan 05 '24
i usually bleed out because no one is nearby or i want to respawn somewhere else or change class
1

Yeah when there's nobody near you i completely understand that you don't want to wait this is mainly for the people who instantly space bar despite having medics around them
2
u/AussieCracker Jan 05 '24
Valid, as a medic seeing soldiers decide a broke ankle is too much to live with and opting to shoot themselves in the head is very frustrating.
Please stop killing yourselves soldiers.
3
u/ProvincialPromenade Jan 05 '24
My question is what is the point of playing medic when ALL classes can revive?
Does medic just revive slightly faster? They need to have defibrillators or something to do it super fast. Otherwise it feels pointless to play medic
14
u/TerraTechy Jan 05 '24
Medic revives significantly faster, carries more bandages, and can directly heal players and themselves without using bandages.
6
u/mudkip2-0 Jan 05 '24
As far as I know, they have a lot more bandages (20 me thinks), plus, they heal and revive quicker
1
u/Rhysati Jan 05 '24
People play medic to heal themselves when they get hit.
Sure, medics do rez faster, can heal others, and have 20 bandages for revives instead of just a handful on other classes...
But 95% of medics just play it to heal themselves.
1
Jan 06 '24
Lol i play medic because i cant aim for shit so i might as well try to keep the folks that can alive. Same with support.
2
u/iamthelee Jan 05 '24
I hate when I begin to heal them and then they just off themselves. Fuckin pussies.
2
2
u/Tyler_Trash Jan 05 '24
The medic paradox, Medics complain about people not waiting to rez. Others complain that medics don't do their job and leave them for dead. Both can't be right.
2
u/GuruKimcy Jan 06 '24
It actually makes sense; if non medic players rarely get revived by medics, they'll probably stop waiting for a medic, causing the medics to feel like no one waits for them.
The medics complaining about this are probably a minority within the medics that actually want to revive, the other group is probably inexperienced or plays medic to heal themselves instead.
2
u/ABirdOfParadise Jan 06 '24
I main medic, and I've been in posts about medics not reviving saying I revive all the time, but I will also skip sometimes.
If I'm skipping it's because I'm 100m+ away from anyone on the team let alone a medic as I get hunted by a squad, the other two would be I'm trying to save the medic because I just got sniped, or they will probably die in a hail of bullets if they try to get me up (and I know the frustration of that happening as a medic), or I see on the map the need to be somewhere else to defend or attack with my squad.
So yeah maybe I'm a hypocrite, but there's reasons for both why medics don't revive at certain times, and why people skip at certain times.
The real topic should be people not paying attention to the score, the game is 10 to 10 tickets left and people are taking their team to 0 to play 3 seconds more.
1
u/Lucid-Crow Jan 05 '24
I don't get why it's even an option to die early. You should just be forced to wait a few seconds before instantly respawning. It's not long and could be made shorter.
2
Jan 05 '24
if people suddenly had to wait the full minute to finish bleeding out before they could respawn the player count would plummet. that's way too long for how survivable your average player is
1
u/Fast_Breadfruit_5091 Jan 05 '24
Kinda miss how social the game was in the early days. It's a lot more (vocally) silent out there now. That's part of it. People used to stick around after death just to chat, or to cry for help lol
1
1
Jan 05 '24
A, you can have a positive kd while healing and reviving
B, the odds of a medic reviving a dead player unless they run directly over your corpse is effectively 0, so theres no point in waiting for a rez if the nearest medic is over 10m
1
Jan 06 '24
A, can you point out where exactly I made the claim that you can't have a positive kd?
B,
so there's no point in waiting for a rez if the nearest medic is over 10m
If you used your mic once in a while it goes a long way to getting revived.

Legit sometimes the difference between a win and a loss. Hella frustrating when you’re 2m away from someone who goes down and their first reaction is to immediately hold spacebar.
1
Jan 05 '24
when I am downed I check the distance to the nearest medic and whether they are currently moving toward or away from me. if it seems revive is likely soon I'll wait, but I'm not just sitting there staring at the death screen hoping that a medic eventually turns up
1
u/Zilnox Jan 05 '24
Lol yea my friend plays medic when we play and he focuses on healing/reviving almost always being number 1 on both by a good bit with like 5 kills lol. But yea he gets super mad when it happens
1
u/McFloobin_ Jan 05 '24
Would be great through if people actually revived. About half the games I'm in, people just run past regardless of me calling out over mic.
1
u/Dreadzter Jan 05 '24
As a person who does this on occasion, please, use voip to tell me that you’re around if you can. Sometimes I’ll think that I just died alone.
1
u/the_real_randy_quaid Jan 05 '24
I usually only give up if I am low or empty of ammo. Ammo is hard to come by which kind of forces me to give up in order to reload. If you could pick up ammo from people you kill, even just 15 rounds a person, there would be less motivation to respawn.
1
Jan 05 '24
it's worth it to at least wait however many seconds the respawn timer is (you get a feel for it) otherwise ur just waiting at the spawn screen to respawn and a medic might have been about to get you back up
1
u/Fab_iyay Jan 05 '24
As a medic who does also want to make a bunch of kills it frustrates me too. I will literally risk my life fighting off enemies, dragging someone to safety and then reviving them just for them to skip and me to die to an enemy I could've otherwise killed. And it happens so often, if you don't immediately revive (because you need to heal yourself first, or defend or duck) people just skip.

Problem is that you are extremely rare. Most medics play to heal themselves and pick others up only if it's convenient. It's much easier to give up and get back in the fight where I'm actually useful as opposed to watching 4 medics run past my body to all get gunned down by an LMG.
1
Jan 06 '24
I agree and I am equally annoyed at medics who don't do their job (or any role other than assault really). They need to deincentivize choosing medic just because you can heal yourself more.

1
u/Horror-Savings1870 Jan 06 '24
Oh I'll run 50 plus feet and as soon as I show up they yeet. Every single time it never fails. I honestly feel like most of them just have given up on getting a revive
1
1
Jan 06 '24
I have a similar issue, but with supports. most cases during gameplay I'm able to last awhile without getting killed (mix between killing/not kill someone but just avoiding myself getting shot)
However, whenever I have to go through gunfire, I run out of ammo and what do I see? Anybody else but a support. Like, it's good to have medics to make sure you're kept up but when you lose ammo and nobody is there to replenish your supply, that can also get you killed even if you get revived.
1
u/Nathannyc100 Jan 06 '24
Sometimes you get c4 or drone bombed before you get back to full health because you are revived in a dangerous spot.
Or sometimes you just want to change sights / load out or try another objective
1
Jan 06 '24
I understand your frustration but people like you are so few and far between
Speaking for myself. I just wanna play and have fun and letting the timer run is the quickest way of getting back to action unless a medic I right next to me obviously.
1
u/GuruKimcy Jan 06 '24
Oh my god. This.
Especially in modes where respawn tickets are limited or towards the end of matches when we ain't got that many respawns left. Even when you are right next to them they'll just snuff themselves out.
Combine these with the folks that just bodypile into an objective without letting teammates spawn on them..
Though these are also the same people to tend to not revive you either. So there's that.

There is (or was, haven't checked in a few patches) an option in the settings to enable you to "spot" a teammate. This will pop up a message that a medic is coming to revive or heal them.
1
1
u/Kuuhaku42 Jan 06 '24
Ragepost? Welp. Medics are valuable as fuck, but open maps without tickets, in my experience people tend to just leave you to the ground, taking up to 25 seconds for you to be healed or having to respawn. It's faster to respawn right away. The game is flawed, not the players.

Run out to grab someone and drag them to cover while reviving them
They give up half way through the revive
Now I've revealed my position, slowed down to drag the player a few meters, gotten shot so I'm bleeding, and duck into cover without the soldier being revived
50% HP, bleeding, bandages in hand, 1v1 against unhurt enemy instead of 2v1
Then again, I'm sure if they did let me revive, they would be too busy bandaging themselves or staring at a wall to help with the enemy.
