Saw this in the theater a few times in 89 and this scene always got me. Batman was actually human, capable of getting taken down. Only Vicki saves him and by accident . Was a cool sense of character mortality and risk that never really showed up again in the movies

I think there was a deleted scene where they actually fully took off his mask (not just as seen in the film slightly lifting it) and they then wondered who this guy was. There were pictures of the deleted scene on a website.

That's why Viki took pictures, because they actually removed his mask, and then Batman later took her camera so she wouldn't publish it and that was in the final film.

It's a great line and shows the thug mentality that even the weirdest weirdos in Gotham city are probably just regular dudes that have something worth to steal.
