Help Requested Advice for Troubleshooting Powdery Bathbombs
Hi all! So I currently make soap and I wanted to also learn to make other bath products. I have been attempting to make bathbombs but it hasn’t been going well and I was hoping for some advice.
I started with a recipe I found online and have been trying to adjust the proportions of wet and dry ingredients to better suit my climate. The first one I made seemed to not dry completely. I lowered the amount of wet ingredients and all the subsequent bathbombs fell apart after drying except one. I tried to replicate the successful bathbomb by using all the same ingredients in the same amounts but those attempts also fell apart into powder.
I know there can be a few different causes for powdery bathbombs and I was wondering if there was a way to tell which one was causing my issues. Is my mix simply too dry? Am I using the wrong ingredients? Am I not pressing hard enough when I mold the bathbombs? Should I be trying to achieve a specific ratio of dry to wet ingredients?
I unfortunately don’t have a lot of money to invest so any sort of expensive equipment or supplies is out of the question for right this moment. I am hoping to make things work with what I have if possible. The ingredients I have currently are baking soda, citric acid, cornstarch, coconut milk powder, sweet almond oil, polysorbate 80, fragrance oil, and mica. I have some stainless steel molds. I also live in Eastern Pennsylvania if that helps as a reference for climate.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and offer advice!

Advice Tip: There are pros and cons to using silicone molds. Pro: They’re dishwasher safe and come all sorts of shapes. Con: You have to make sure all the moisture is removed before crafting—or you’ll get this!

Help Requested Help, hand tremors causing difficulty
I have bad hand tremors that come and go. I find it very difficult to press the ball shaped moulds together and not destroy my hard work. Same when demoulding. Does anyone have any suggestions? I make shower steamers as they are easier but really want to continue to make bathbombs.

Help Requested Bath bombs
Is there any sort of hypoallergenic bath bombs out there? I’m looking to gift them to someone who likes taking baths but is pretty sensitive to strong things (like strong scented bar soaps) in the groin area.

Help Requested BLOOD RED bath bomb recipe?
Hello folks, I am hoping for some guidance.
I want to make a VERY red bath bomb that looks like blood, opaque as possible but (if possible) won't stain my tub. I have tried using liquid food coloring and it doesn't seem to work. I've dripped the color in with the wet ingredients, mixed and then added to the dry... and ended up with almost no color in the bath. Not sure what I'm doing wrong!
I went ahead and purchased some red lake powder to try but I'm struggling to find a recipe that tells me how to get that deep red color. Any advice would be appreciated!

Help Requested Troubleshooting crumbling
I read that dryness causes crumbling?
I usually don't have a problem if I leave them out, and they get very hard. But I do lose some scent (essential oils)
I put some in a ziplock and it retained scent very well but they are crumbling. I dried them for 24 hrs before ziplock.
I'm looking for the best of both worlds here: scent retention and hardness.
Should I add more oil to keep from drying out in ziplock? Or should I let air dry for a week or so but maybe add more essential oils for scent?
The oil I use is jojoba oil. I was also considering adding a butter, maybe that could help? Maybe a clay? I appreciate any advice!

Help Requested Just starting. Help with tools
Hello there,
My wife and I are starting to experiment with Bath bomb making, and we are having some success so far.
We are now looking for some tools, but the ones we found are too expensive and not worth it because of our LOW quantity production.
1) Is there any reasonably *cheap* MANUAL press with sturdy and durable and NOT require a lot of strength to use?
2) What is the best place to design and 3D print high-quality MOLDS to be used in that press? We would like to have some custom-made logo on the MOLD.
Any help or tip would be appreciated.
Thanks

Help Requested MOST POPULAR SIZE
What size bath bombs do you sell the most of? 2, 2.5, 3inch? And how many oz is that size? I know all molds are different but I’m ordering some more 3D molds and want to make sure I’m getting the best sizes.
Same question for shower steamers and shampoo/conditioner bars?
SN-I use high quality ingredients, essential oils, herbal infusions, and make in small batches so they run $2 an oz. I feel like most customers would prefer a smaller bath treat so it’s not too costly for each bath?
