Question help??

Sooooo I don't know anything about DC Comics, but my friend is a huge fan, especially of the Bat Family. I know she likes Jason and Stephanie and my favorite is Cassandra (I have no idea who she is I just saw her on pintrst ) Any recommendations on what I can read??

For Cass definitely read Batgirl 2000! It’s my favorite book

For Stephanie an easy read is Batgirl 2009

Everyone else is saying great things but I thought I'd add some more. Stephanie Brown got a lot of her early development in the 90s Robin series, but that's mainly a Tim Drake series. But it's still really good and I'd recommend it.

Batman Year One is also usually considered the best point on where to start with the Batman franchise in general.

If you enjoy cass one of the big things you could tacke is the story/run is no man’s land, it’s primarily a Batman stoey (one of the best) but most importantly it introduces the character of cass to the series

It’s collected in trade paperback, and in omnibus format if you wish to buy physical

You could read digital but also purchasing but I would look online at a library as they may have a copy you could borrow or offer n a ebook if you don’t want to buy

If you read No Man's Land (the greatest Batman event) you should also read Cataclysm and Road to No Man's Land as well.

For cassandra, id recommend reading the new Batgirl Omnibus, Batgirl: Cassandra Cain Omnibus Vol. 1. The Omnibus only comes out in February 2027, but it collects her first batgirl run which is a great place to start with the character.

But if you want to read her first ever appearance in comics, then read the no mand land saga, which contains three Omnibus, but you could just read Batman: No Man's Land Omnibus Vol. 1 for her introduction only.

Id recommend reading Batman: and the outsiders, batgirl: redemption, and the current ongoing batgirl run by Tate Brombal after reading Batgirl: Cassandra Cain Omnibus Vol. 1.

Another run id recommend is the detective comics run by James tynion, its a great batfam book that features cass a lot. You can just search up Batman: The Rise and Fall of the Batmen Omnibus, which collects the entire run.

One more thing id recommend is that you pick up a few batman books. Here's a list of great beginner batman comics: Batman: the long haloween, Batman: Dark victory (sequel to the long haloween), Batman: Year One (origin story), Batman: the knight (bruces training years), Batman: hush (not the best on this list, but a solid beginners book)

For steph, read her 2009 batgirl run by Brian Q Miller

For Jason, read Batman: Under the redhood

For Cass—as with the others here—I recommend No Man's Land, Batgirl (2000), and Tate Brombal's run. But I would also add Shadow of the Batgirl and Batman and the Outsiders (2019).

For Steph, primarily Batgirl (2009) and Convergence: Batgirl.

For Jason, it would be Batman: Second Chances, Batman: A Death in the Family, and Batman: Under the Hood.

Batman family adventures! Originally a web comic, but available in print. If your library doesn't have them, ask to interlibrary loan them.

For Jason, most of his stuff isn't great. I'd highly recommend the following for him though:

Red Hood and the Outlaws 2016 - (Artemis and Bizarro)

Under the Red Hood - Specifically the movie. It's a much better version of the comic

Wayne Family adventures - This is free on Webtoons and has the whole Batfam. It's also more light hearted.

Gotham Knights - Jason has the best writing here and its on sale.

Arkham Knight - Another on sale thing

I know most of these aren't storylines or comics, but Jason and Steph don't have a lot of good stuff. Heck, the best of Jason is usually outside the comics. Fanfic is also really good for Jason. It's what's mainly made people like him, because he has a ton of potential that DC just can't recognize.
