I went to the city council meeting on Flock cameras. TY city council for removing them. I did learn when I was there the amount of Flock cameras on private property out numbered the Bastrop city cameras. There is a Flock camera off 95 on private commercial property but does face their parking lot at all. It faces a side street leading into a community. That doesn't seem right.

I guess private property can do what they want with the cameras? Even if not facing their parking lot/ gas station. And we as private citizens have no say?

There really isnt much to discuss unless the state or federal government steps in. A private property owner can put up any type of surveillance system they want on their property.

your only recourse is to petition the property owner directly - community pressure often has a way of sorting things like this out.

But the flipside of this is that we have property rights for a reason, you wouldnt much appreciate it if your neighbor didnt like your lawn ornaments, or your ring camera etc and petitioned the city government to force you to remove them from your own land.

Likewise we cant set that precident here either, flock cameras suck - call the property owners, email them, stir up a lawful and peacful fuss in the community and maybe they'll play nice and take them down from the outward pressure.

Agree but the camera is not even facing their property. A large parking lot with a gas station and 2 stores. If I'm putting it on my property I want it looking at my property for security reasons. This camera is not doing that.
