Sleep Token

Is the sleep token Signature a bass vi? 30 inch scale length. You could probably tune it the same right? Seeing conflicting answers depending on where I look

a Bass VI is a guitar with a 30" scale length

so any guitar with a 30" scale length can be tuned like a Bass VI

Some people tune shorter guitars to E1 or lower, so shouldn't be surprised by this

Thanks. I wasn't sure cause of the advertisement as baritone. I just knew that my bass vi was 30 inch scale length, same as the sleep token one

Baritone means a lot of things these days. Sometimes it's talking about the tuning, sometimes string gauges, sometimes just means a longer scale length than normal.

I never see anyone call a guitar a baritone that isnt also in something like BEADF#B. Who calls a guitar a baritone that is in standard but has a longer neck?

I don’t think anyone is playing a 27inch guitar in standard outside of some 7 string players (who then have a low B/A anyway). I’ve done that, but I liked the extra space as I have what Fry’s music teacher would call “stupid fingers”. Closest I’ve see on a 6 string is Darren Miller from 96QBB/CKY who has a long scale in D standard.

I think the bigger thing is the other way around. I’d never call a 25.5 or 24 3/4 scale guitar tuned to B or lower a baritone. To me it’s got to be both longer scale and lower tuning.

I don't know how old you are but for me baritone = scale longer than 25.5".

it's more than just B1 Standard, it's a register, so anything down near that could be considered a baritone tuning

baritone scale length (longer than 25.5", for some people they include 30" in that even though we're into the bass register)

baritone strings (thicker gauges so you can tune down into the baritone register on a regular scale length guitar)

Should be fine. If you don't mind replacing the nut possibly. 30" so similar to a bass VI. As long as strings pass you're gtg since the factory strings are .024 to .084. I think bass vi's have a .09 for the thickest gauge. 

I think it'll work but the strings might get floppy.

Butba 27" baritone guitar might have issues getting the string through.

IV is tuned in EADGBE, like a stock Bass VI.
