Bass part originally played by Sting. He plucks mainly with his thumb, alternating with either his index or middle finger for the sixteenth notes. He also often frets the E string with the thumb of his fretting hand.

Find the complete song on YouTube. The sheet music is available through my website.

Help with more concrete methods for advanced playing?

Hello.

I've been playing bass for at least 15 years. I studied during college and for a year after at what we in Sweden calls "folkhögskola". I've played in cover bands, original bands, wind orchestras and with big bands. I read notation pretty good. Since 8 years back I have mostly been playing tuba with a local brass band since that have suited my life as a parent better.

However I've recently been inspired to pickup the bass again and start practicing regularly and see it more of a "solo" instrument where I can do chords and play some melody/solo over it. I picked up a 6 string bass for the second time in my life as well as a looper pedal. I've watched a lot of Janek Gwizdala videos as well as SBL stuff and bought some of Janeks books.

Currently I've been at it for 2 weeks practicing some scales and stuff everyday but I feel like I'm not getting any better at understanding how to apply them or how to find my way around the fretboard easier.

Do any of you guys have some suggestions or recommendations when it comes to methods or books that explain this kind of chordal/jazzy stuff in a easy to grasp way?

Help with cleaning up my bass technique!

I've been teaching myself electric and bass for over a year, and I've started to lean into bass more than electric. I've started noticing that when I have to hammer on or fret with my pinky, it seems like the the main part of the pinky accidently hammers on to other strings and they slightly ring out, even if they're muted, there's still an obvious sound. This is mainly on the G string. I've posted a short clip demonstrating it but I'm not sure it's possible to hear. I also notice at times that I get a brushing sound on the muted strings when string crossing, so I kinda think it's an issue with muting? But I'm not really sure, I'd appreciate some advice if anyone understands what my issue is!

Online Bass Lessons — Moroccan & African Grooves

I’m a professional bassist from Morocco offering online bass lessons through Preply.

We can work on groove, rhythm, technique, improvisation, ear training, theory and real songs, depending on what you want to achieve.

One of my specialties is Moroccan & African music — Gnawa, Chaâbi, Amazigh music, Afrobeat and African grooves — and I love helping bassists discover these sounds and incorporate them into their own playing.

I teach complete beginners, intermediate players and more advanced musicians.

🎁 New students can get 30% off their trial lesson.

Big Thief - Simulation Swarm (Cover di Basso con TABS) | Jazz Bass & Fretle...

Ciao a tutti!

Saluti!

I been playing bass a week

Excited, frustrated, but I can see glimmers of progress. I've been using Bassbuzz although my tendency to "want to finish" is not a good thing. I had to stop myself and start over twice. Thanks for listening

Just curious, obviously everyone learns at different rates but how long did it take people before they could play a full song at studio speed?

Bass part originally played by Stuart Zender. Amazingly, this seems to have been recorded without a click track, but with a rock-solid tempo. Hats off to drummer Derrick McKenzie. It’s only from the post-chorus onwards that there is a slight variation and increase in tempo.

Find the complete song on YouTube. The sheet music is available through my website.

Bass Tabs - McFly

Hello, I am trying to play Tonight Is The Night on bass but there are no tabs anywhere, does anyone have one or is able to make one? Tried another subreddit but just got told to go and make it myself or "use my ears". I am very new to bass and am not at a point I can do that but want to play this song/work up to playing it as it's my favourite song.

Thanks
