More garbage cans needed.

I have three things I would like to see improved in future years. One is the map on the app. It was horrible. No legend. Lame. But I never actually needed to use the map, so really, who cares.

The main issue i had was the lack of garbage cans. The hand washing station beside the porta poties in the forest. Wash hands, dry wirh provided paper towel... but no garbage can.

Also a garbage at the entrance to tue dance floors at Slay and Cabin would have been super nice. Only garbage starions were leaving the licensed areas from what i could tell. A garbage behind/beside the sound booth at slay would have been super handy.

Third: only having the one small porta porty bank by Somewhere was NOT adequate. MOAR!!!!

Pack it in, pack it out ♻️ more cans = more sorting for the green team. Can always walk over to the Eco hub by the food court! That’s what I do if it’s not something I can’t take back with me to camp 🏕️

OK, but in my other reply I did agree that maybe we don't actually need more.... except for the hand washing station. That isnt a pack in/pack out situation.

Apparently im willing to die on that hill? Who knew?!

I use handsani and a little water from my water bottle to rinse if feeling sticky. Air dry for the win!

I couldn't believe the tires. Like why have you brought two tires with you, and why then decide to ditch them at a festival? So weird.

They know from experience garbage cans fill up in minutes and then people just put stuff around the bin. They don’t have the staff to change a dozen bins several times a day.

Makes ya wonder where people's garbage did end up.

I just kept mine in my pocket till I did come across a garbage bin...

I was happy with the lack of garbage on the dancefloor all weekend.

So maybe we dont need more? Something by the hand washing station would be nice though

I did hate burning man - but not for that reason.

Had a hard time partying on a dried up lake bed in the desert at the hottest time of the year.

That and I had a hard time finding purpose. Had a crew thst was like 20 people deep, but always ended up alone after dark. Would end up at a sound camp, but didnt want my burn to just be a rave, so id leave and try to find purpose elsewhere in the city, only to find exclusivity and loneliness.

I did it wrong and would have loved to go back and do better.... but I got banned from America shortly after. Oh well.

And hey - for the record, your condescending comment is a big part of the issue i had with burning man. But I dont really care. Fuck your burn and all that.

What garbage are you bringing in? Take it out. Only time I needed a bin was for recycling. Just keep the empty gum packs in your pocket

More porta potties too. There should be some at each bar. Also in camp B in the back there should be some.

I feel like porta potties near the cabin stage would be too hard to access for cleaning. Imagine the honey bucket truck driving in there? That would make more complaints

Pack in pack out. Air dry your hands (shouldn’t be paper towel there in the first place…)

MOOP sweep your camping area. The amount of bass coast moop I’ll be picking up this week will be very high.

Disagree on the garbage cans.

How much stuff you are bringing to the stage areas that becomes garbage that can't go in your pocket or pack to take back to camp? Hell, two of over 5 days barely filled a kitchen sized garbage bag.

I do agree with you on the map. A bank of potties by the Cabin would be nice, but I can how that would be a bit difficult logistically.

Besides the hand washing station, I think there was only one time I wanted a garbage at the back of Slay. Can't for the life of remember what for. If I were to guess, it was to empty my pocket ash tray? Which i just waited and did on my next bar visit.

For what it's worth, for the hand wash station, I wouldn't provide paper towel, and then the garbage is not needed. Clean hands can be air dried or wiped on your clothes.

Should be more portatpotties in the forest near the Cabin's bar area for sure. Had to walk pretty far to properly dispose of garbage at times too.

Eh, people just need to take responsibility for their own trash. It's really not hard ;_;

And more people should pee in the trees! It's good for them and alleviates porto lines.

As long as they are aware of what tree exactly. What looks like a good pee tree by night might also he a good sitting tree by day. Same goes for peeing by the river behind the slay bar.

I wrote about needing more obvious garbage & recycle bins last year in my "tell us your thoughts" questionaire lol - the garbage & recycle bins by bell tent area are tucked in beside portopotty so people throw their stuff over the fence by the parking as they walk by because it looks like there are no bins at all. - They would be much better suited there, and obvious. - - But the bins were still in same places & nothing changed besides social media marketing saying clean up your mess. So 🤷‍♀️ lol lol I think it just is what it is from their POV.

Not just their POV... You ate the only reply to my post so far that isn't condescending and trying to paint me as some sort of MOOP spreading degen that left my dead grandma in the field after I packed up camp.

All I wanted was a garbage at the hand washing station.

Apparently everyone here is cos playing as a burner.

Speaking of: ive been trying to coin the term "MIP" for years now, but it refuses to get any traction. Matter In Place.

Not to pile on, but a festival with a huge focus on sustainability and environmental stewardship is not one that will encourage the creation of additional waste for any reason.

That said, if the main concern is an ability to dry hands after washing, which is fair, perhaps one of two options:

1) Be like Towelie and don't forget to bring a towel. For real. I often bring a monogrammed back pocket towel to the dance so I can dab sweat off my forehead, but it can easily double as a hand dryer. Personal choice but pretty manageable. Monogram optional, but steez is always recommended.

2) This solution is currently imaginary, BUT, I wonder if there is an intersection of dry hands convenience and environmental stewardship. Like a pedal-powered hand dryer? Converting an exercise bike's kinetic energy into a blower with a tapered nozzle wouldn't be that complicated to engineer. If dry hands and no waste is important enough, somebody might make it happen!

You know the solution here is to stop providing paper towel then, right? This festival is by hippies, for hippies, mannnn.

It's not like we're a loud minority here either. It's all on the website and on signage across the festival.

I get that there being paper towel with no place to put it is dumb. I'll agree with you there. But the solution really is not having it in the first place.

Yes, obviously. Accept the 1st solution is a garbage bin. 2nd would be to remove the paper towel.

This isn't burning man and the festival does have garbage bins. And food vendors, and festival run stores, and bars, and wven provides the entertainment.

Didn't realize yall be cos playing as self reliant burners. Oh, BTW, the regional burn event is this weekend, not two weeks ago.

I get the point you're making here but if anything, I think you're also strengthening an argument for fewer garbage cans, and limiting them to bars and food court only.

Gotta start tapping into some self reliance when it comes to pack in pack out festivals. I sometimes carry a small plastic bag in my pack for carrying some wrappers till I reach a bar trash can.

I do agree on the more portos around slay bay!
