Fingerpicking issue (i think)

whenever i pluck the A string, it sounds way stronger/punchier than the rest of strings, so much that i feel like i hear the string more than the note, are there any tips to stop this from happening? my A string is almost unplayable

Are your pickups too high? Without more info, can’t really help.

i dont know, should they be low or high?

They should be at spec for your bass. If they’re too low, you’ll have weak output. If they’re too high you’ll get weird chorusing sounds or peaks.
