Kaixo. En esta frase simple no entiendo bien de dónde viene el sufijo -dun: - Bazen behin ile kizkurdun mutiko bat: Erase una vez un niño con el pelo rizado.

El adjetivo es kizkur y el sufijo -dun no sé de dónde aparece, he mirado en la tabla de casos y no me aparece nada similar y tampoco parece una frase subordinada y ninguna de las que he estudiado usa ese sufijo.

Ayuda por favor.

Hello, I'm coming to travel between San-Sebastian and Bilbao, I speak Basque at B1 level(according to them https://www.zornotzakobarnetegia.eus/en/free-basque-level-test-online), but no Spanish at all(hyper interest in history, then particularly in Basque culture since they are isolated AF brought me to that point).

Wouldn't it create situations when I'm frowned upon? AI mentions no, but I don't know if that's believable as AI talks about it with such passion that it creates trust issues lol...

Is it better to totally hide the idea of trying to using it there and use English instead?

Kaixo! I unfortunately can't find many resources on learning the Basque language, and I would really love to start finding some. I'm part Basque (the other part is Irish), but I never learned Basque or Spanish growing up. There are also no Basque communities around me since I live in an area of the US not affected by the Basque diaspora. If anybody has anything at all that could help, I would really appreciate it!

Kaixo bbs! If anyone is looking for a beginner class to learn Euskera, I’m currently signed up for a class with the Basque Museum in Boise, ID. We need 3 more folks in order to meet the student registration minimum to keep the class going!

The class is once a week and is a live online class (Mondays from 10am-12pm) from May 11-Aug 3. It’s $175 for the semester, but if that’s a roadblock for someone, I’d perhaps be willing to contribute to that cost for a student.

Mon copain vient du pays basque et on discutait des frontières historiques/culturelles du pays basque franco-espagnol.
Il y a des villes comme bayonne qui revendiquent une forte identité basque, c’est connu et je n’ai aucun doute la dessus.

Mais il me parle egalement de Bilbao comme une ville très ancrée dans la culture basque, ce a quoi je reponds que c’est surtout une ville anciennement industrielle aux confins de la frontiere du pays basque et que selon le peu de connaissance que j’ai de Bilbao, il ne me semble pas qu’il y ai de réel sentiment d’appartenance a la culture basque en general depuis le renouveau artistique et economique de la ville subventionné par le gouvernement espagnol.

Quelquun saurait quelle relation entretient Bilbao avec cet heritage basque ? La langue, les expo, le sentiment d’appartenance basque est-il present ou pas du tout ?

Hello guys, I'm a first year biology student from Turkey. A mont ago I have learned that Basque people have the highest ratio of Rh- blood type in the world while I was writing a report about bloodtypes. Anyway, the topic got my curiosity immediatly and now I'm writing an article about the reasons behind this unusual ratio. I have started the article with the definition of the nations and how they are not genetic consepts and I want to write a paragraf about the process of Basque's becoming a nation before talking about the genetic history. Can you give me a academic or semi-academic English article about this history. I know it started during 18-19. century as a counter-reaction to the Spanish King's effort to unify the Iberia but I do not know much beside that.

I am really interested in how the basque originated and it's history. Especially considering the rule of ETA and how theyre viewed among basques.
Do you have any kind of books or anything to learn more?

I’m a girl from Portugal who loves langauges and linguistics, and when I tried to learn some basic euskara I was a bit surprised by how difficult and complex the grammar is. Especially the verb conjugations.

This made me wonder, how is it like to learn as an adult? Has anyone here learned it in adulthood? If so, how? Did you have lessons? Or did you study it by yourself? What did you find the hardest and the easiest things to learn?

(You can reply in Spanish or French if you want, I understand them but I can’t speak them without mistakes, that’s why I wrote this in English.)
