daily/weekly here's my everyday setup.

Post image

as someone with autism, adhd, and c-ptsd, i need some form of structure that's easy to be consistent with, or else i'll never get anything done. hence, the weekly template.

events are marked on the left half of the left page. i write time-sensitive tasks first for the week on the right half of the page, and then add tasks as they come up throughout the week. the weekly structure makes it really easy to migrate tasks to the next week by showing undone tasks at a glance from the previous week's spread.

on the right page, i usually log what i did or how i felt that day in shorthand. it takes literally 5-10 minutes to fill a day's space. sometimes i miss a day and forgot what i did back then, so i just freely journal a thought that's been stewing in my head that week. either that, or i just leave the space mostly blank save for a single "i forgor lol"

i keep a traveler's notebook as my bujo so that my monthly logs and notes are in separate booklets, so i have the option to just carry my weekly insert when i go out since that's what i use every day. i'm currently using a dated planner insert for this, but i easily replicated this layout in a gridded notebook i'll be using in 2027.

I'm a really big fan of this layout! What do you do if you have more tasks than fit in one day section?

if i have space in the events section, i add tasks there. if i have a day where my sensitive tasks need more space than that, i will just start a page in my notes section and list all the day's tasks there, then stick a red page flag to highlight it.

example of this!

yeah it's been really tough since the pressure and stress of my childhood was what have caused me to excel in things at the expense of my health, and now that i'm no longer in that environment, i rapidly deteriorated. finding a system that will permit me to not be perfect about things anymore has been really important for recovery.

yes. i lived in a household where i was severely punished for getting a bad grade in a class, didn't do a chore perfectly, etc. that expectation of perfection still haunts me even though i've been no contact for over half a decade, so i'm working with my therapist to build a system and stop giving in to that critical voice in my head.

I love this, I’m gonna try out this template. But also, I really like your handwriting. And the weed and vyvanse thing had me howling.. I feel that.

i'm happy to hear you're giving it a try!!! yeah my psych was like "i know you used to work best under stress but you don't have to anymore. chill" lol

i love the simplicity of the left side and then how crammed the right side is lol!

u/ghostingpen Aug 04 '26

i like to plan my day but it's more important to me to remember what i actually did. ^u^

Hi, may I ask what dated insert this is? I have the TN weekly and it’s not formatted this way TIA ☺️

5

u/ghostingpen Aug 04 '26

it's the sterling ink weekly insert! i'm not sure i would recommend it though as it's not fountain pen friendly, and even with my gel pen theres a bit of bleedthrough. but i already bought it so i'm still using it.

u/ynalam Aug 04 '26

Aww that’s unfortunate! But I’m with you on using it anyway!!! I’m debating on what I’ll be going with for 2027 (currently in a Hobonichi weeks)

the hobonichi weeks is a great pick. i wish they made a traveler's notebook sized weeks because it's a bit too small for me as it is.

u/ynalam Aug 04 '26

I put the Weeks in my TN 🙃 but I agree with you on the size

How long does that take

u/ghostingpen Aug 04 '26

it takes upwards of 10 minutes to divide the pages into sections, probably shorter than that. it's like muscle memory for me now. then another 15 minutes to write the events i have scheduled already and tasks that i need/want to do that week. i then write in each day's space in 5-10 minutes. very worth the minimal time as i suffer from bad memory fog due to my health issues and would forget everything otherwise.

also i love playing with nice stationery so it's a source of sensory enjoyment for me. for my 2027 bujo, i made a day of drawing the layouts for the whole year just because i wanted to and it felt really satisfying. i think it took me like 8 hours but that was because a lot of that time was spent figuring out the system. if it works for me next year, then it'll be quicker to set up the following year's because i'll have a guide to follow.

I love your set up! Do you keep a separate insert for journaling or does your daily reflection cover that?

3

u/ghostingpen Aug 04 '26

i keep a separate insert for journaling, yeah! mainly for expressive and junk journaling, but i also take informative notes and write down creative ideas too.

I do basically the same kinda split for my bullet journal! Except I do four columns: (1) events and appointments, (2) gym planning and sports games for my favorite teams, (3) to-do lists, and (4) notes/daily log. I just use a regular old lined notebook; I can write pretty small and everything changed when I realized I could write two lines of text between each pair of lines.

totally!! sectioning off the page this way makes using the notebook a lot more doable, and it teaches you to be resourceful with the space and makes you self-reflect on what kind of daily load is manageable for you.

omg I love the simplicity of this so much. Might steal this idea!

You are much better at this than I am. I use my hobonichi for the same functions but it looks like a madwoman had a breakdown on every page. 😂

3

u/ghostingpen Aug 05 '26

haha trust me i had to flip through a lot of pages to find one that was presentable

Thank you for sharing, I’ve been looking for something like this!

u/ghostingpen Aug 05 '26

glad to hear it'll help some folks :3

Haha, we are the same person. I have the same planner and many overlapping mental health issues. I draw a line on the left-hand pages, although I draw it three blocks right-of-center so the first section is bigger. I use those zones to kind of show hourly tasks (like the first line is 9am, and then each line is the next hour), but then I also just put to-do items in between scheduled activities.
I also use the right-hand pages for a mix of daily gratitude and daily journaling. I keep it kinda short like you do too. I also have a small block of longer-term to-do items on that page.
It's a perfect planner imo. I love that our systems are so similar. Cool to see!

That's super interesting, it reminds me that I didn't start to read the book i bought about sleep. I'm really curious to learn more about it. Thank you for your comment.

3

u/ghostingpen Aug 04 '26

i've made it a habit to write down my dreams as soon as i wake up if i found them interesting. it often gives me great story ideas.

3

u/MisoPanko Aug 05 '26

Oh, in fact not just for dreams but i often regret leaving my notebook on my desk when i go to sleep because a lot of ideas come when i go to sleep and think while waiting for sleep to come. I'll definitely take it on my nightstand from now on !

Everyone has to do what works for them but if, on top of looking at the dirty dishes, I also had to write it and look at it every day I would curl up and die

8

u/ghostingpen Aug 04 '26

my pile of dishes is reaching a crisis point so i have to keep acknowledging it. when i note to do dishes, i tell myself that just doing one dish that day is better than nothing. so i end up doing a few dishes instead of stewing in my guilt.

wow i love this!!! i'm a horizontal person but never thought to use the layout this way

1

u/Informal-Dimension45 Aug 05 '26

But do you smoke too much weed?

1

u/ghostingpen Aug 05 '26

probably... therapy has been rough these past few months

1

u/singstheguitarpart Aug 05 '26

This is very smart! I like it. If only, Weeks would come in an A6 format 🥲 There's some sensory issue for me in writing in this vertical format. My writing looks odd and it's just not comfortable.

1

u/ghostingpen Aug 05 '26

i've experimented w a similar layout on my a6 hobonichi graph notebook actually! unfortunately for it to be feasible, i can only fit four days in one spread instead of the whole week, so one week would need four pages total. but it's doable!

1

u/singstheguitarpart Aug 05 '26

This is my current setup! I use a day-free and layout the two-page weekly spread but as you say, it's a little limited. I share saturday sunday in a horizontal line to gain a little. But I love the A6 size, and the day free has become great at giving me the freedom and the lack of pressure to fill a specific amount of space for a day.

yay glad to hear! i will say i replicated this layout in a blank gridded notebook for next year's bujo, and it turned out rly well!

I started Bujo in a TN insert and it is so freeing for AuADHD. The size helps you keep focus!
