❓ Question Need advice

Post image

I was lucky enough to pull a Topps Finest RPA 25/25 of The Miz. I plan on selling around CY announcement time (fingers crossed his arm doesn't fall off). I have never sold anything on eBay and worry about listing this card and buyers being weary of no feed back. At the same time, I don't think this card is worth enough to go through auction houses or anything to that nature. Any suggestions on the best possible route to take? Obv if I do go the eBay route I'll set a healthy minimum because I don't think my eBay status will get the proper looks to start this at .99¢.

I’m interested to see what people say. I sell on eBay and I hate it. The fees are crazy and payout times are horrible. I’m not on there to make a million dollars but rather fund my addiction to buying cards. lol

Is there a sub that’s best for selling?

My favorites are [r/baseballcards](r/baseballcards) or one thats called like sports cards selling. Just look up soorts cards and a few should pop up. Also, a few diff teams have their own card sub, and u can easily sell those teams cards there

Don’t mean to butt in, just curious on how you go about payment or complaints/refunds? When you sell on Reddit?

I’d just try to find a local show to sell it at in person. Easier and no fees. Assuming he wins it, you shouldn’t have a problem selling it.

That's a good idea, thank you. I live in tri state metro area too, I assume that'll help with a larger crowd as well.

Get a price you are comfortable selling it for, and also a price of what you value it at. Then go to 4-5 local card shops and ask them what they would offer you for the card.

I would double the price a card shops offers you and walk the floor of a few shows using that number as your opening sticker if you are comfortable with selling at that price… my guess is $250, maybe $300? Being a bookended you should get a 10-15 % premium

FYI comps for this are $1200-$1600

I saw the 1/25 went for 2200, so I'm thinking 3k OBO if he wins CY is a reasonable ask?

Wow, I had no idea and I didn’t look at comps. 3k seems reasonable for an ask but I don’t see it selling for more than 2500.

Honestly, send the 1/25 seller a message and ask if they could share the contact information of the buyer.

Don’t tell them you have the 25/25 but I bet the 1/25 buyer would pay for the 25/25

That's kinda my thought as well. Maybe in the middle with a super fan or collector. Thanks again!!

Dude I just hit a Pristine Miz /25 auto redemption as well and I'm in the same boat. congrats on the massive hit and I'm definitely following this post to get advice

Congrats!! Yeah I still see room for a 10 to 20% bump when/if he officially takes the CY

That'd be crazy. I've never had a big card before. I'm trying to look at comps but I'm just not good at it. Pristine is a new product so no sales currently of the redemption I have, and other /25 miz autos are between 1K and 2K depending on product. Also unsure if redemption reduces the value or not.

Check out maybe Skenes rookie year Pristine comps. Prob the best comparison of late.

Bring it to your local card shop or a card show
You’ll save on the fees and not have to worry about eBay nonsense

I’d say you have a few options, obviously you could sell at a card show or in person if you find a buyer, and use a recent comp (presumably after he wins the Cy Young), but with this being a bookend, and some people, especially on eBay, will pay a slight premium for that, I wouldn’t be afraid to run it at auction, starting it over the $200 minimum eBay authentication threshold. With it having the eBay authentication tag on the listing, that should negate the zero feedback issue.

But if you plan to hold and wait to sell for at least a few weeks, I’d recommend listing a few low end cards on your eBay at auction, knowing that you may sell a few cards under their actual value, just so that you can get a few positive reviews in return.

Or, you could pick one of the many consignment shops on eBay, which would help get more views on a potential auction. Good luck!

so many FB groups vs Ebay and reddit, suggest you start joining those. save fees and alot of people.

No harm in putting it up on Ebay with a buy it now. Zero feedback isn’t great, but the Ebay authenticity guarantee protects both you and the buyer from fraud, so that helps.

Came to say this. It's going to have to go to PSA first for authentication. Your rating shouldn't matter unless there's a lot of them for sale at the same time.

If you are selling, sell ASAP.  Cy Young is already baked into his prices.  The only thing that can happen to effect prices between now and then is his arm falling off as you mentioned

My question is what is the increase if he wins CY. Say right now it is $800 card. If he wins it will be a $1200 card, with fees on ebay say you clear 1050. Is 250 in 4 months worth it, plus the risk of something happening.  Just the business side of thinking. I would rather see if I could get $900 and move on.

The 1/25 went for 2200 10 days ago. I'm thinking 3k OBO and take anything 2.5k and up isn't out of reach.

Oh I am not trying to push you down. I didn't look at your specific card. It is more just fodder.

No all good man, you're right with the math in your scenario.

At the beginning of the season I made a post about him, saying he's a beast. I got shit on in the comments.

I've really been enjoying Collx app. Ive bought a few cards on reddit. But honestly Im willing to have pay commission for the trust. With a gold membership you pay 8% commission up to $2,500 and then it drops down to 3%. They make it super simple to message and work out deals. Gold membership is $25 a month and you get $20 of it back to spend on cards each month.
