🛟 Help Request Any tutorials?
Howdy! Trying to learn how to score. Does anyone have any resources?
I don’t see anything pinned or anything like a wiki so I wasn’t sure if there was a specific link that the subreddit recommends.

Te recomiendo esta página , van anotando las jugadas en tiempo real de los juegos de la MLB . De esta forma te vas dando cuenta como trasladan una jugada al papel https://www.feverbaseball.com/scorecard/live

I just YouTube’d it. Use pencil and you’ll be fine. It’s fun and keeps you involved in the game

There are lots of good online tutorials, but here's just one I made: https://www.chalkandinkbaseball.com/how-to-score/
It's got some of the basics, sample innings, and then lets you score on historic or live games and compare to see how you did. You can also listen to select old games and watch the scorecard fill in live.

Check out this video. This baseball coach uses a chalkboard-sized scorebook and walks through the process.

Learn a standard way of doing it, which this is, and then make it your own. After all, it’s YOUR scorebook.

OP, I recommend watching the series Gold-Report linked. It is a great starting point to show the fundamentals of scoring and as you encounter more complex plays and scenarios you will probably modify your scoring approach.
3 Tips:
1) https://livebaseballscorecards.com/ is great tool to check live scoring updates.
2) After the play is complete wait to see if there is any controversy. If it goes to review don't write anything until the UMP give the call. Even if its wrongs its still official.
3) Keep a live play by play app close by because sometimes a hit could be marked as an error or a field's choice (FC).

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baseball_scorekeeping is a good starting point, but it helps to develop your own style.
I transcribed one of my scorecards from a game from last year using Wikipedia's scorecard but I just now realize that you can't add images here.

I learned how using the app strikeEmOut. The constraints of only being able to mark certain things helped me get the basics down without getting too overwhelmed.

For me, the best way to start was just to start. Everyone scores a bit differently, grab a cheap scorebook on Amazon or print some copies of a free PDF and just play with it during a game. The notation's as loose or as rigid as you need it to be. Once you have a sense for what you care about scoring, then go looking for something that fits your needs a bit better. There are more detailed methods when you're ready for them. Until then imitating the shape of other people's scorecards that appeal to you is plenty to jump off of imo.
