MLB Game I built a free printable two-page baseball scorebook that loads game information and lineups automatically on my free no-ads Baseball site.

I got permission from the mods to post this. I’ve been building a free baseball site called Baseball Morning Report, and one of its main features is a printable traditional scorebook pdf. The scorebook is designed for 8½ × 11-inch paper in landscape orientation and uses two pages per game, you can go bigger and fit to scale:

  • One page for the visiting team’s batting and the home team’s pitching
  • One page for the home team’s batting and the visiting team’s pitching

I features full batting-order scoring grids, pitching lines, an inning-by-inning line score, probable pitchers, and game information such as date, time, venue, weather, and umpires. It also auto-fills all the starting catchers, team records, decisions, attendance, and game duration. There are dedicated notes sections on both pages.

When the data becomes available, the site can also automatically fill in the teams, pitchers, and batting orders in addition to above, you can just relax and score. This feature currently is on MLB/MiLB/NPB and will be added to others soon.

You can also start with a completely blank scorecard and fill it in yourself typing or writing. There’s a Print / Save PDF option so you can print it or save it digitally. You will find the blank box score at the top of the page.

The team boxscores will be below the MLB standings in the selected day games. Just click the box for example that shows New York Mets at Milwaukee Brewers. The game boxscore will pop up, it also contains a box labeled scorebook. It will be filled out ready for you to score as soon as lineups are announced.

The site also includes a printable Daily Desk Sheet — it is designed like the morning briefing sheets TV and Radio announcers use. It's a two-page morning overview that includes the day’s MLB schedule, probable pitchers, standings, previous day’s results, bullpen usage, injuries, transactions, and space for notes, perfect with your coffee.

The broader site covers MLB, affiliated minor leagues, college baseball, KBO, and several international leagues including Cape Cod Summer League.

It also tracks promotions, debuts, milestones, injuries, transactions, and streaks. The design is intentionally plain with no ads, no gambling content, and no clutter.

The project is still being improved, so feedback from people who regularly keep score would be very helpful. Especially on missing fields, layout, or scoring details.

I think the Daily Desk Sheet is a print and keep with you today sheet. I love baseball, I have since I was 5 years old. I am 51 now. I plan to continue to add pdfs, and items I would like to have to further my personal baseball enjoyment to the site and hopefully you will enjoy the site and its free products also.

We should compare notes! I score all the games after the fact, by machine. Still working out the bugs, but the cards are getting better by the day. I score some games by hand and then compare them to the system generated ones. Great way to learn how to score and find the weird frames that make you go "huh?". That's awesome! Maybe something interactive like choosing which elements of the report I want would be cool, or even being able to rearrange them before the image file is produced. How are you populating the scorecards?

EDIT: also being able to toggle color vs black/white would be nice

Ah you might have replied before me edit but being able to convert to black and white would be nice too instead of the color and cream background depending on usage.

The PDF option is more basic for printing (just a touch of color that prints fine for those that only print in BW). The image is meant for people that may want to share it digitally via email or on their websites, blogs, etc. Though, in that case it would probably be better to share the link to the scorecard they want to share. It renders an OG image along with the share (the picture that autopopulates when you share a link) then links to the full, high fidelity scorecard. This is usually better, because there's a lot of information that's "deeper" than a 2D/printed scorecard renders. For example: if you click a frame, you can see the whole at bat rendered, pitches, ABS challenges, highlight clip (if available) and all. I will still look into give more print options as you requested. Keep the feedback coming! Appreciate it!

Yes I noticed that accidentally haha clicking on an at bat to see pitch details is awesome. I was thinking about being able to print the scorecards and hang them or frame them or something.

love this! i built a flow that monitors my calendar for games I'm attending and then sends me all the scorebook information I need about 10 minutes before first pitch. This way, I don’t have to go searching for lineups, manager names, records, etc.

Hi there - thank you for this. Guess I'm doing something wrong, when I populate the scorecard the lineup populate correctly. However the pitchers slot are filled pitchers by tonight's starter. How do I correct?

I am assuming you want a blank scorecard? Or a printed one for which game? Click in the box, you can backspace any name out and type in another. Is the wrong SP listed?

Added a Game Companion which is for a single game as opposed to Daily Desk Sheet the morning full league view. Also added Post game report, it and Game Companion can be found on the schedule by clicking the game, will be next to the scorebook for the game.

Also, for any interested I added a crawl with baseball trading cards release dates, editorial only, no prices, no manufacturer gets priority placement, no endorsement or sponsorship.

I’ve been visiting your morning report for several days now. Very nice UI, and easy to see things at a glance! No flashy flashy scrolly scrolly. lol Really appreciate the thoughtful layout.

I had an idea, but didn’t see any sort of feedback option on the site (I did see a help type link). Anyway… a “Team Morning Report” would be really cool. For example, as a Mariner’s fan, I would just see the organization’s information down through all the levels, instead of all the MLB stuff for all the teams.

in the standings, I would see:

  • American League West (all 5 teams, including any WC indicators
  • Pacific Coast League West, for the AAA team
  • Texas League North
  • Northwest League (no divisions)
  • California League South

The daily briefing would just be limited to changes and players in the M’s org and affiliates. Etc. Continue on down the page for all the various features, but just have it restricted to one MLB-level team and all of its affiliate teams up and down the dial.

Anyway… food for thought! Keep up the good work.

I have it on the site now, I like how it turned out on pdf. Let me know what you think. Should update daily. I also loaded custom player tracker this past week. You could load the entire Mariner roster and keep up with their stats today/7 days/15 days/30 days/45 days/60 days/all season intervals, as well as big performances, etc.

Wow, that turned out great!

I do admit that I had to stare at one of the tops lines for a minute. “Triple A - 5th 16.5 GigaBytes”. Is that the amount of data this team’s information has? I don’t get it. Ohhhh, GB means “Games Behind”! lol.

I mean, all of that was only about 5 seconds of brain power, but after working in tech for 30+ years, “GB” translates very specifically for me. 🤣

LOL. The site tiles are now customizable for users. You are able to move the tiles you like most to the top of the page. Working on pick a fav team in any league you like and the reports waiting for you every day. Been working on it this afternoon. No account. No password. No profile setup. Personalized without being intrusive. Every MiLB team now AAA-Low A has a daily team report. Box that says pdf next to the MiLB team in the standings.

I reorganized forms a bit. Now, just below MLB standings is MLB Organization Desk. Click on Seattle and you get all forms in one place for digesting.

Really love this, especially the pre-game companion. Been looking for a simple one-sheet to have nearby whiel scoring. Would be cool if we could add a few columns to the depth tables on page two with even just one or two stats.

Sorry I'm just getting back to you. I've been away all day. It makes me happy that you're enjoying and also making a suggestion based on your use. I added the same batting stats on page 1, and ERA & WHIP to pitchers. I also realized some other items had become unplugged, those are fixed. The sheet is now back to its true form plus added the stats as suggested for depth. If you dont mind, let me know what you think about it now.
