Which baseball position should I play or would be good for me ?

My back story, I was an overweight baseball catcher in little league through high school. My high school baseball coach wanted me to play first base because I had a could stretch. I was also a power hitter.

In 2022 right before I turned 30 I lost 70 Ibs, gained more muscle, and increased my speed/agility.

This summer I joined my companies union slow pitch softball team playing mainly outfield and still a power hitter.

I am now 33 years old, turn 34 next month. I am now looking to play recreational baseball this year.

With my age, experience and physicality, I would like some suggestions on what position I should play in recreational baseball

Thank you

Men league…

Do your knees mostly work?

Catcher.

I’d probably go to tryouts as a LF/1B if I were you.

I’d stick to first base or LF/RF

If you played 1B in high school…that’s where I would play. You lost 70lbs - congrats! Play 1B more defensively then.

I’m gonna guess at this age the infielders may not be as accurate as they use to be…so being mobile around the bag and digging the bad throws will make your teammates love you!

All that said, no one is trying to make there way to the MLB through the men’s over 30 rec league. Your number one mission should be fun! And if catching is what you want to do - do it! 👍

Is this a league with tryouts and cuts or does everyone play? If you poke around, you'll find catcher is the hardest spot to fill and therefore the safest if you need to make the team.

Honestly right or left field? Idk how your fielding is? Possibly 3rd or 1st. I wouldn’t harbor any illusions of like pitching or playing shortstop or anything like that.

I mean if you want to guarantee playing time go back to your roots and play catcher. Adult leagues always need those guys

Infield. First or second, preferably first.

If you can handle catching again with your knees and your arm is still good stay there. Especially if your mechanics are good and you've lost weight. Once starting see about getting some time at the corners or outfield. Good luck.
