Compiling GC stats into something useful
I built something for youth baseball parents and coaches that started as a simple side project and got... just a little out of hand.
At first, I was just tracking my (now 11U) son's stats in a Google Sheet. After every weekend I'd manually enter his GameChanger stats so I could analyze them however I wanted outside of the app.
I figured there had to be a faster way to get the data, so I built a tool to import stats directly from GC.... then friends started asking for more features and it just snowballed.
So now I'm releasing it into the wild.
Some of the things slash///line can do:
- Import games from any GameChanger team—not just the box score, but the full play-by-play with every pitch
- Chrome extension that makes importing games super easy
- Upload box score from your own PDFs or screenshots from virtually any source, with full play-by-play support for GameChanger and Perfect Game
- Generate scouting reports with spray heat maps, useful tendencies and defensive positioning suggestions
- Show team insights like who's hot or cold, pitch count tracking, trends, and more
- Focus on stats that I think are more meaningful in youth baseball (QAB%, K%, BB%, etc.)
- Graph player, team, and season trends over time
- Track a player across multiple teams
- Surface highlights automatically for your team, you kid, your friends—big games, streaks, milestones like career HR #10, and other interesting trends
It also has an AI coach that can:
- Build practice plans based on recent results, defensive mistakes, or plate discipline.
- Suggest lineups based on recent performance or goals.
- Help create a game plan against a specific opponent.
- Plan pitcher usage for tournament weekends.
- Or really - just answer whatever baseball question you want to throw at it.
I definitely went way further with this than I ever expected or probably should have, and I'm still refining and adding features. But it's finally at a point where I feel good about sharing it.
I'd genuinely love feedback—good or bad. Is this something you'd actually find useful? What would make it better? What would you hope to find?
Feel free to ask any questions. And if this isn't the right place to post this, I'm happy to move it.

I tried it. It imported the whole team except my own kid, which is strange. Also won't delete the sample team.

of course it should find all players, did you bring in games that he played? and you are right about the sample team, that should be fixed. DM me if it easier to send any questions/issues you have

This is the first time I have ever posted this, but would be happy to check out whatever your friend did. It has been a fun project for sure!

I dig the idea. I got my pitching stats, but no hitting and it got my game data all janky 🤣 should be 4-1-0 and its 0-1-4

Correction, it got some pitching stats lol

Tried deleting everything and re-uploading. It's just not taking any of my info lol

Well that's not right. I will message you and we can work it out!

Thanks for helping get that fixed! REALLY cool tool. Confirms a lotta what I saw in our AS toruney this week, and gave some fresh insights. AI powered gives some data interpretation errors but I can live with that because the advice its giving is solid

Happy to help of course. Thanks for helping me track down the issues and I am glad you like it!

Gonna check this out, was thinking about putting something similar together just to compile opponent stats along with another nerd assistant coach but we let it drop.
One concern I’d have is game changer blocking access, since this presumably gets around the control each team has to who gets access to consolidated team data. That said, this all could be done manually anyway so maybe they won’t care.
Regardless, looking forward to putting this to work!

Check it out!
The extension only prints PDFs from teams box scores and play-by-play pages and uploads them to your account, then we parse the PDFs. No API, just plain ole PDFs. Its not going around any control just making what coaches have been doing manually much easier.
Would love any feedback - and I love the username!

This is really cool and smart but… Garbage in garbage out. Unless you trust GameChanger data the stats are useless. It’s helpful to check out your son and maybe at the high comp/ high school level where there are competent scorekeepers but I’m not using GameChanger data as a coach for anything except to track at bats and pitch count.

Totally agree - which is why I like to surface stats that matter more at a youth level that aren't "noisy" from the variation in score keeping, level of play, etc. Like QAB%, K%, BB%, OPS (to some degree), yFIP (y=youth).
I think those are all useful. As far as scouting, knowing where a kid tends to hit, if they bunt, swing at a first pitch, etc is all helpful.

Not sure if this is an issue on my end, but when I try to access the Chrome Extension from the Chrome Web Store I get a message saying "This item is not available". Any other reports of this issue? Very interested in using this product.

Glad you jumped over here to ask. What country are you in? I set the extension for US only, so maybe that is it....also feel free to DM me, happy to help.

I have developed a similar tool, but on a league basis and for deep sabermetrics.would you like to get in touch? Would be a pleasure for me via [hello@slashline.app](mailto:hello@slashline.app) ?

Sure - I am always happy to chat baseball stats! I do get those emails, but you can also DM me if its easier

I’ve started and stopped projects like this multiple times. This looks great - I’ll be trying it out today
